Dear Friends,
Can you make a difference in the world?
Those were the questions posed by Dr Manu Chandaria and Dr Hyun Moon at the close of the Global Peace Convention 2010 and International Young Leaders Summit 2010 at the KICC Nairobi this evening.
It was real busy and fun at the same time today.
Earlier in the morning, we at the Global Peace Commission had teamed up with Kibara Youth Consortium, the Administration Police, the Kenya Forestry Services and the public to plant trees netx to Nairobi River just by the Zinduka Africa in Nairobi West.
I was impressed by the resolve of the people in making a difference by the way they turned out in their thousands for the exercise. We planted 1,000 trees in a record one minute.
The trees were ably provided by the Kenya Forestry Services whose Director was officially at hand to make the presentations and lead in the tree planting exercise. The Administration Police Contingent were also at hand to help in planting trees.
We were ably hosted by Zinduka Africa.
The Global Peace Convention 2010 and the International Young Leaders Summit 2010 comes to an end tomorrow 20th November 2010 with a Festival at Nyayo National Stadium from noon. The Guest of Honour will be the Rt Hon Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of the Great Republic of Kenya.
In their closing remarks, the speakers extolled the example of Kenya having risen within the shortest of times from the brink of ruin in 2008 to the broad road towards progress, national healing and development. Sir James Mancham, the former President of Seychelles gave the history of Kenya right from before Independence and how he was there at Independence to witness our great moment to a standing ovation.
He urged Kenyans to be the leading light towards promoting Global Peace to the rest of the world.
Dr Moon was at peace with himself. Rarely do people with vision live to see the fruits before their own eyes. He was impressed by the Global unity expressed by a record 40 Nations attendance of the Convention in Nairobi.
Now, can we surely make a difference and live the dream of the Global Peace Festival Foundation?
Peace and blessings,

subject PM failed us
Dear Friends,
Leadership is all about commitment and nothing else.
Today, the Rt Hon Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya has failed us by failing to honour his invitation to preside over the Global Peace Festival at Nyayo National Stadium.
His side kick by the name Ceaser Asiyo was at the stadium and called to advice that there were no people and that it was not worth the PMs time to be with us. Yet, we were almost 5,000 people in the Stadium. To Asiyo, we the 5,000 people were stones; not worth the Prime Ministers time.
This is very disappointing for a man who need national leadership. People like Asiyo are spoiling for the PM. Here is a child of privilege who knows nothing being used to usarp roles that is best left to professionals.
Here is a child of privilege whose association to the PM is best based on historical ties the PM has with his family, not what he knows and feels about the country.
When the President made a commitement to open the Global Peace Convention 2010, he did not send his team to spy on us. He came.
When the Hon Vice President made a commitment to open the International Young Leaders Summit 2010, he did not send his team to spy on us. He came.
Then the PM sends Ceaser Asiyo to spy on us and based on Asiyo’s advice, he fails to turn up for an international event at his own backyard. I am not now amused at the recent inconsistent leadership exhibited from the Prime Minister.
With such people around you, you must make the kind of mistakes he is making in public.
This is very disappointing and it is a clear pointer to the kind of leadership that we are faced with.
I am very disappointed.
Peace and blessings,
