Kenya : Trying to sanitize Raila`s position

From: maina ndiritu

The appointment of RAO to the Ivory coast as the AU mediator was to say the least totally irresponsible, the moment RAO made known his honest opinion on the matter.. he lost the opportunity to be mediator in the crisis , but we can understand where he is coming from : the chance to be cast as chief mediator in a high profile – media saturated environment was… simply put … irresistible , in his quest to colour frame his Pan African and international profile , he chose to ignore his bias and genuine retrospection and this has cast him as a leader incapable of recognizing his own limitations and liabilities.
There is absolutely no reason or need to stress the point that RAO ought to have declined the appointment , he would have played an active role in the mediations , although he has not any record of mediation, in the sidelines , but the opportunity was too great to pass and thereby lost any pretence of self respect.

Trying to sanitize his position as probably being that of firmly helping push Gbagbo out , is stretching imaginations too far – to somehow accommodate him from this monumental miscalculation.
Or was it the AU way of embarrassing our PM since he has not missed an opportunity to critique them for inadequate action in many matters ?!!!
To top it up the man has been declared personna non grata!!!
That is extremely shameful

Good boy. you write like your name, but if only you care to understand AU and its position. For starters like you, AU was looking for a person who shared their view on the events in ICoast. They wanted a leader who was going to tell it to Gbagbo as it was, and not mince words or try to negotiate power sharing. Did you notice that RAO kept off Gbabo from the temptattion of power sharing?

Next time you can ask AU to send in Michuki if that is what will make you and your like minded KKK idiots excited.

I could not agree with you more! Even after being appointed mediator,RAO continued to portray himself as being on the side of Outtara by only talking about how Gbabgo should relinquish power and not how the crisis should be reloved!

Let us be people who focus beyond Africa and reason positively. Whichever way Gbabgo must go, we have to learn to change our reasoning to march the civility of the word today and respect democracy.

    Maina,
Though you have some point in the course of your contribution, you should congratulate RAO for being selacted by AU to be involved in the mediation process. You appear to be in the group that was praying that RAO fails.
Give the PM credit as he has the guts to tell somebody off, just like he told Gbabo off from the onset.
These are the guts that make some tribes squirm under their seats and pants when they imagine him as the next President, they know that he will not be twisted by their tricky and sungura ways of doing business. No wonder they always say[AFADHALI KALONZO],becouse the Mkamba is weak.
Just look at what he did to Nyayo when they met at Late Kirimas funeral and the senile old Moi revisted the issue of the constitution.Whereas Nyayo was attacking them in their base it took the courageous Raila to stop his stupidity whereas KIBAKI.MICHUKI and the like sweat was dripping from their backsides with embarrasment.
Give credit where it is due, kuteleza sio kuanguka.

It was obvious that Gbagbo was not ready to cooperate with RAO. A mediator should be neutral or at least perceived to be neutral. RAO was one of the first leaders to condemn what Gbagbo was orchestrating……and that was right…..but it was a mistake for the AU to pick RAO as a negotiator after that.

Gbagbo considers RAO an ally of the UN, US, EU and the Opposition in Ivory Coast whose intention is to kick him out after he clearly supported Outtara. The crisis could be solved diplomatically with another negotiator and not RAO.

RAO has other problems right now at home he urgently needs to adress and i therefore don’t consider him fit “at this moment” to help solve any external crisis.

    Otieno
