Kenya: ODM Expelling MPs shows Old Kanu tactics are back

Hi people

Now am getting convinced that ODM is more worse than KANU the old party of Baba na Mama
The Midiwo of today have the courage to expel MPs.

If ODM is serious it ought to have started with Hon William Ruto, who campaigned for UDM during the Omingo Magara by election which saw Magara fail to retain his seat.

Why go for the supporting cast, of Isaac Ruto and Duales.

During KANU days any leader who went against the party rules was punished in several ways recall of loans or handed trumped up charges.

So ODM has just emulated the same behavior and it will be very tricky for ODM come 2012 to convince certain voters that they expelled their leaders due to misconducts.

You are blind to the fact that todays political landscape is far much better than the KANU days.Nowadays one can criticize his or her party,a development which was not posiibly during the KANU era.But ca

To begin with, there was no legal standing on which the Orange Democratic Movement could use to specifically oust Mr. Ruto (with regards to your assertion that Mr. Ruto ought to have been expelled from ODM). Mr. Ruto had ‘campaigned’ for the UDM candidate, but he had not advocated for the formation or sustenance of any other political party then.

Secondly, the times back then were quite trying for the Premier (who thought that he could tame the lost kids), only to find out that they were a gone case. What they are attempting to do now is not stictly adhering to the law, but it is specifically mechanized to be a punitive tool, as well as decreasing the opposition the ODM is facing at Parliamentary Committee levels.

Politics is a game of steering what is best for oneself, and I doubt if you would act otherwise were you in Mr. Odinga’s shoe. I am not an ODM diehard by-the-way, I am just heavily disappointed with the perception that only Central Kenya will always lead Kenya (not to mention the plethora of corruption besieging these Central Kenya leaders).

ODM PARTY LOVES DEMOCRACY. I respect your opinion about ODMs conduct in regard to critics from within the party. But i beg to differ by highlightng some facts as far as disciplinary action is concerned, starting from the KANU ERA wheN Kenya used to be ONE PARTY STATE. KANU was the only political party and those where real and imagined critics or those who were undermining the party from within were expelled from the party and this was used to silence the would be critics since KANU was the only political party and William Ruto was a KANU member during that era.But after the repeal of the SECTION 2A Kenya once again became a multiparty state, parties were formed and people Kibaki,Shikuku,Matibu… ,left KANU to form and join these parties. The same should apply to Ruto and his brigade, they are free to leave ,but campaigning for UDM while you are still in ODM is unfair and unlawfull even at the party level.Let them campaign for UDM from within UDM.Any social grouping has its own rules and regarding members conduct and ODM as a party is not any different.

Paul Chila, you are on point on that issue. Matter of factly, the love of democracy does not replace the requirement of order and unity within the party. If I can quote Jesus, ‘a house which is divided will not stand’. ODM is simply expelling the rebel members in order to forment a united stand for the coming elections. Whichever way you look at it, that act by ODM is not a disgrace to democracy.

though,we have seen some public differences among ODM LEADERS but i want to remind our nation that our premier is always an indipendent candidate he can form another party or lay stong strategies for the party.
