……
Five MPs from Kisii community yesterday have accused the Grand Coalition Government of ignoring the community even after voting for ODM and PNU flag bearers in the last year’s elections. The MPS, among them Cabinet minister Prof Sam Ongeri, said in the next general election, the community would not support presidential candidates who ditch it after attaining the top posts.
ODM treasurer Omingo Magara, Dr James Gesami, Dr Robert Monda and Walter Nyambati said the community was politically short charged by both parties for failing to get their rightful portion of Government posts. Magara, Gesami and Monda who spoke in Kisii town before leaving for Naivasha after receiving Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Martha Karua who had taken her presidential campaign to Gusiiland for the first time.
Ongeri, the Education minister, told Karua during a meeting at Nyankongo Primary School in Kitutu Chache constituency they could not support leaders from other communities who in the past had used the community as a ladder of climbing to presidency.
Kisii mayor Samuel Nyangeso said the community could field a presidential candidate in the next elections with Prof Sam Ongeri as the torch bearer.
Karua said she would not be cowed to drop her ambition to succeed President Kibaki in 2012. She dismissed those claiming she had launched early campaigns, saying she doe not a bell. Karua said in the past regime, presidential candidates were forced on voters.
She said the time to declare her candidature was now and challenged those opposed to her bid to tell her when the right time to seek the top seat was. Karua was speaking in Kisii yesterday during a home coming party for the mayor where she was the chief guest. She asked Kenyans to work together as a nation to overcome future post-election crisis.

TRIBAL POLITICAL BALKANISATION
I do understand the painful feelings of the Gusii people with regards to what their MPs feel was shortchanging in the Grand Coalition. But any mature Kenyan should have understood the fact that PNU is bent on benefiting only one community, GEMA. This fact could not have been missed by such illustrious thinker-professors like Sam Ongeri.
The task of any peace-loving Kenyan should be to unite aqgainst the corrupt forces and improve the lot of Kenyans. This will never be achieved by ganging up as a tribe. The cabal that are the enemies(politically and economically) are well known by honest Kenyans. We must join hands to remove them from the positions they are using to exploit us. This cannot me done if we think of ourselves as a tribe.
We should shed offour tribal leaning if we we are to achieve this lofty end.
DR.ODIDA OKUTHE.
Who are the beneficiaries of this “Government of National Unity†other than the the President, the Prime Minister, the slick willies who forced them to talk to one another and calm the poor Kenyans who voted for them and elites now struggling to hoodwink wanainchii to vote for them again in 2012.
These people are self serving and do not give sh..t that over 1000 poor Kenyans lost their lives , over 350,000 of them were displaces and millions shillings property damage was borne by countless.
They are busy on their self serving endevours trying to hatch tribal distablisation plots and are not concentrating on the interests of people they expect to vote for them in 2012. To them, the poor Kenyans and the horrendous difficulties facing them are merely tools to be used to fight their opponents and win. As long as foreign aids is pouring to help them rule Kenyans with iron fists, all is well.

whereas I agree with the Gusii MPS coming together to talk as a people, i read with a lot of concern their intention to tribally balkanize so as to make a stab at the presidency in 2012 by supporting one of their own. It is unfortunate that they have started the tribal talk when the wounds inflicted by the tribal leaning have not healed.I wonder when our MPS would see light and stop polluting the peoples minds with such cheap tribal talk. Everybody legible as provided by the constitution to vie for presidency should go a head and declare intention, but should not use his or her tribe as aspring board. Our former presidents had used tribal cards in the past and endangered our people. I urge fellow kenyans to shun tribesmen who aspire to use their tribes to get leadership positions. Our tribe should be Kenya. If need be let change the country;s name to united republic of kenya to assist emphasize need for togetherness. If we allow our mps to take us astray this time again, then we should prepare to live with what we recently saw -post poll violence and its bitter destructive aftermath.
