LACK of co-ordination among agro-related ministries may soon see Kenya sink deep into perpetual food crisis, donors meeting held in Nairobi has been told.
The donors, mainly Western nations, called for better communications between the Ministries of Agriculture, Livestock Development,Fisheries and Water and irrigation to ensure food production in the country improves this year.
They also asked for more transparency and accountability in the ministries.
“It has been difficult for donors to work,with the ministries- some of them created after the formation of the Grand Coalition government- to increase food production,” they said.
Swedish Ambassador Anna Brandt, who spoke on behalf of the donors, said the reported cases of corruption in maize, seed and fertiliser sectors had also raised concerns on how their funding would be utilised by the four relervant ministries.
Present at the meeting were representatives of Germany,United States, Finland, the Netherlands,European Commission and Japan.
Brandt said although ” progress has been made towards better sector coordination” by the creation of several ministerial committees and a donor groups, more efforts was needed by the donors and the ministries to ensure their priorities do not clash.
She asked the Ministry to urge Non-Governmental Organisations{NGOs} working in the same area toalign their plans with those of the govcernment.
Among the issues cited at the meeting held at the Agriculture Ministry’s headquarters at Kilimo House, Nairobi, was the implkementation of Agenbdas Two and Four,which established the coalition government after the disputed General Elections of 2007.
The tow agendas dwell on immediate measures to address the humanitarian crisis and promote reconciliation and healing as well as long-term issues on land reforms, tackling of youth unemployment and addressing impunity, transparency and accountabiliuty.
European Commision representative Eric van der Linden told the meeting that although the programmes were not well co-ordinated, the relevant ministries shouldwork together to ensure food production invreases.
Kenya’s Minister for Agriculture William Ruto saiod”The stability of the country is dependent on a comprehensive plan to deal with Agenda Four.’
There was also concerns that despite the governent’s commitment to increase the budgetary allocation to at leasy eight per cent of the budget,itmis still remains atless than five per cent.
Kenya is a signatory to the Maputo Declaration of 2004, which stipulates that the allocation to Agriculture should be at least 10 per cent of the country’s annual budget.
The Minister said the government of Kenya is also working on ways to ensure its plans are aligned to those of the donors.
Kenya is cuurently experiencing acute shortage of food grains due to unpredictable weather, prolonged drought.Nomad communities in the sdemi-arid part of the country have lost thousands mof livestopck dur to lack of green pasture and grazing field and water.
Dea ths by starvatioin have also been remoted from the Noprthern parts of the country, Ukambani in Eastern and Kajiado districts min ther South Rift. The dry North Eastern Province has been the worset hit. Traditional maize poroducing regions like Trans-Nzoi, Uasin Gishu, Trans-Mara, Kisii and Migori district, Bungoma and Busia and other places only managed to produce 40 per cent of their annual production, making the country to be a drependant onm food donations and imports from foreign sources.

Kenya is experiencing acute food shortages because corrupt MPs are busy doling out land to foreign corporations to allow them cultivate Kenyan’s land for export to their respective countries of origin for profits while able bodied hard working Kenyans are lingering in filthy slums created for them by these very unpatriotic corrupt Kenya’s elites.
Instead of giving land to hard working Kenyans to “Rudi Masambani kujenga Kenya” from bottom up, these elites are filling their pockets or receiving lethal arms to terrorize and kill fellow Africans they have condemned to slum dwelling. The bribes are routinely given by the multinational corporations in exchange for doling out Kenya’s land. What the heck!
The African MPs are the most disgusting unpatiotic human species on planet earth! Why are they so afraid of poor Kenyans while Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Paul Kagame are hatching a plot to confisticate the land in Kenya and Tanzania to releave the heavily populated Rwanda?
Why is East African Community now ainstitution when it was not during Idi Amin? Could it be because Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and Paul Kagame of Rwanda are the most effective “ALPHA MALES” for terrorizing their neighbours?
It is true Amin murdered thousands of Ugandans during his reign of terror. However, what Paul Kagame of Rwanda has done in Democratic Republic of Congo, where 1.5 millions Congolese have perished (thanks to Museveni, Kagame and Laurent Nkunda), will make Idi Amin’s artorocities look like a child play. In any case, the same foreign agents who brought Amin to power before he “went rogue” on them are now working with Paul Kagame, the current chairman of the new East African Community.
Amin was brought to power while Obote was visiting Communist China. The foreign powers who helped overthrow Obote are now very comfortable with Communist China who is now grabbing millions acres of land in Africa, paricularly in the genocide prone areas in Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. Africans are being killed or displaced from their land properties to allow Communist China and the west to cultivate African land to feed their population back home. Poor Africans are murdered or are dragged kicking and screaming to UN World Food Programs feeding camps as if this people are incapable of feeding themselves.
WAKE UP AFRICANS because you are surrounded by wolves posing in sheeps clothing!!!
DR.MILTON APOLLO OBOTE
Uganda’s president, Dr. Apollo Milton Obote was overthrown after attacking Britain over her condoning of the Unilateral Declaration of Independence, UDI in Souhern Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) by the British, Ian Smith, an act which was treasonable under the British law. If Ian Smith had been a non-Broton he could have been imprisoned for life.
This act of ommission or commission by Britain painfully hurt blacks who were dying to be free from imperialism. Dr. Obote paid for it and Uganda is burning till today with Yoweri Museveni keeping Dr. Obote’s tribesmen either in exile or in jmlitary concentration camps in northern Uganda.
The same month Ian Smith declared UDI a black man declared Anguila, then a British colony, an independent republic and with a knee-jerk reaction the same Britain sent the Royal Airfoce within 4 hours to suppress the rebellion. The action taken by Britain was apparently just in both Zimbabwe and Anguila! History will judge. Smith was a kith and kin to Britain whereas the black man in Anguila, central America, was not.
Dr. Obote then was attending Commonwealth meeting in Singapore, not China, at the time and had a heated aguement with the Brirtish Prime Minister Harold Wilson over Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) who in a spout of anger told Dr. Obote that he could see army muntiny in Uganda. Within days Dr. Obote was overthrown by Iddi Amin Dada.
We do not know whether or not the British army permanently stationed in North and South Hore in Kenya took part in the overthrow of Dr. Obote.

I just do not understand the rationale behind selling African land while poor Africans, capable of feeding themselves, are being reduced to slums or feeding camps with the help of corrupt African ruling elites. These elites are the beneficiaries of aids being peddled by foreign corporations in exchange for resources such as land.
There were many silent partners collaborating in the overthrow of Milton Obote. They were all afraid Obote would turn Uganda in to a Socialist republic.
Despite the fact that most, if not all, of these former British colonies have never been influenced by any socialist colonizers, slum dwellings, despicable poverty, under-development (no proper roads, hospitals or water treatment in major towns) have expanded exponentially. The “former colonies” are practically still under the British Commonwealth where the Queen of England still calls all the shots in all countries under her “common wealth”.
The former colonial land owners still own the pieces of large farms and do not adhere to laws of the republics in which they dwell. The ruling African elites are still incapable of protecting Africans they pretend to be governing! Land deals signed by unprepared African assuming the power from the colonial masters on the eves of independence left nasty land powers with the colonizers, sometimes for a century!
