Power sharing the new craze in Africa??

Shared power?

On Sunday, Ravalomanana’s allies called for a return to real-politik and said Ravalomanana could share power with Rajoelina under an interim authority.
“We are absolutely prepared to divide the powers of the executive body,” said Raharinaivo Andrianantoandro, spokesman for Ravalomanana’s political party.

The Standard.

First it was Kenya with the stolen elections, then Zimbabwe with the stage managed elections, then now Madagascar with the popular uprising. After all these, comes the talk of power sharing.

Is this good for Africa’s nascent democaries? What then becomes of universal suffrage?

It is unfortunate that the power to elect desirable leaders is being taken away from the common man by either election fraudsters or coup plotters. Whichever the scenario, Africa must refuse this arrangement of losers to elections, election thieves or coup plotters usurping the power of the vote from the common man.

I have argued here before that the AU is a clueless body with very clueless Heads of State who will involve themselves in “negotiating” with common thieves to give them a chance to lead Nations of Africa!!

What a shame!!

“Power Sharing” is the new popular career path for those Africans being used to loot African natural resources and “Global Elders” is the key word used to describe these smooth African operators embedded with the western governments and their corporations!!

Like many, I have a vested interest in Kenya due to the fact that I was born and raised in that beautiful country. I have a mother, siblings and tons of breathing roots planted there.

I am appalled to learn that the fate of Kenyans are being decided by power brokers and other organizations with interests that totally disregard the plights and dire conditions in which 99.9% of poor Kenyans live.

The problem I have is briefly described in the Ghana Business News posted in the link below with the heading “Obama backs Kofi Annan over Kenya trials”.

    http://ghanabusinessnews.com/2009/06/14/obama-backs-kofi-annan-over-kenya-trials/

I do not have any quarrel with any investigation that would get to the bottom of both pre and post election facts and events that led to the deaths of about 1500 poor Kenyans, displacement of over 300,000 and millions shillings of property damage in the aftermath of 2007 Kenyan election!

The US President Barack Obama’s administration has placed its trust in the former UN Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan, who is also called a “Global Elder”. Mr. Annan negotiated the current “Power Sharing” government in Kenya, which is serving no Kenyan’s interest other than the elites forced running it and those of foreign powers who gave Kofi Annan the matching order to intervene and create it.

Kofi Annan!!!?? This is the same soft spoken “gentleman” who had the power to stop the 1994 Rwandan genocide and chose to stand by while 800,000 Africans were butchered using machetes shipped from China and other munitions which came from or passed through Egypt. At that defining moment, Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, an Egyptian from North Africa, was the UN Secretary General! Mr. Kofi Annan, an African from Ghana, was the UN under Secretary General in charge of UN Peace Keeping Operations!

The two Africans, Kofi and Boutros Boutros-Ghali, were at the UN switch buttons when the Rwandan genocide started and continued unimpeded. The western governments on whose behalf Mr. Annan is now issuing threats to Kenya’s “power sharing” government evacuated their citizens from Rwanda because they knew what was about to take place. The poor Rwandese were left behind doomed! If the UN Secretary General and the UN under Secretary in charge of UN Peace Keeping Force were unable to fight like hell to prevent a catastrophic event like the Rwanda genocide, of what importance is Kofi Annan now that he is out of power?
Mr. Annan is one of the “Global Elders” representing Africa. I wonder who elected these “elders” and what their roles in Africa are. Or are these “elders” merely earning very high living standards using the misery indexes engulfing the 99.9% poor Africans?

Repeat, the Kenya’s 2007 elections’ violence took the lives of about 1500 poor Kenyans and left over 300, 000 others homeless! The question Kenyans must ask themselves is, “What investigation has Kofi Annan carried out in Kenya that has led him to conclude that the people whose names he holds as bargain chips were the real trouble makers?”
If Annan and his western backers are certain that the names they have at their disposal are the real ring leaders, how come they were unable to unearth who actually rigged the 2007 Kenya’s general elections?

The rigging of the elections gave rise to the turmoil that caused death, displacement, and destruction. Annan and those supporting him must investigate both, the people involved in the rigging of the election s and those responsible for the deaths and destruction that followed. Otherwise, any artificial cherry picking of events will never resolve tribalism in Kenya and the evils associated with it. Kofi Annan ought to know this unless he has put himself in a pedestal from where he is passing judgments on the rest of poor Africans.

Kenyans, who are sick and tired of being bullied into tribal warfare by the ruling elites, must not allow Kofi Annan and his western friends to employ the tactics of intimidation which favors one tribe against another while corruption and impunity are being swept under the rugs. There are poor Kenyans in jails right now and many of them did not cause the 2007 elections turmoil. Should the bullying tactics being employed by Mr. Annan and his western backers succeed in fulfilling their objectives, it is possible the individuals being threatened will be absolved from the crimes they allegedly committed and the young people in jails would pay the prize.

Any patriotic “African Elder” must find an African solution to Africa’s massive underdevelopment, corruption, and resources motivated genocide instead of regurgitating what is been dictated by the foreign governments and corporations. Lucrative career paths which only benefit these so called “African Elders” and their promoters do not serve Africa’s interest. Africans have interests too that must be served!

It seems like these western handpicked African “Global Elders” function like the former African colonial chiefs. Through these well educated elites, a continuous colonization of African is managed with very dire consequences to the poor Africans. These elders are providing “plausible deniability” to the real power brokers who are calling the shots behind the scenes. The African elders are well paid for their shameless dedications and loyalties to their bosses.

Without these unpatriotic characters, the resources rich Africa would have realized some signs of development instead of poverty, disease, genocide, foreign panhandling and massive slums springing everywhere! Inside these slums are found 99.9% of African population without running water or sewage system! Inside these slums are poor Africans, kraaled and subjected warrantless police and military raids. The poor Africans have become the threats warranting expensive military expenditures by ruling African elites!! Most Africa’s debt to the west is spent on used military equipments and bribes paid to the elites! Kraaled Africans in filthy refugee camps are providing employment to foreign aids workers and profit to western farmers with distribution contracts with UN World Food Program.

Africa’s land is on sale to foreign farmers to feed Africans kraaled in slums and refugee camps!!
