Kenya: Omtatah and Cyprian exchange blows on Citizen TV

From: Osman Kiboma

Its a great moment, hilarious comedy debate umpired by Citizen TV anchor Juli Gichuru. A one hour debate yielded nothing but an exchange of blows between a re-known, one time self chained combatant civil activist Okiya Omtatah and a self declared Human Right Activist Cyprian Nyamwamu. As my learned friend Wanyri Kihoro witnesses, the two heavy weight boxed one another clause after clause on the proposed constitution.

The point of differences were mainly on 1. Land, 2. Kadhi courts 3. Judiciary 4. Notable flaws on the Katiba including ommissions committed by the CoE.

O.K

I watched the live discussion and was shocked by the behaviour of Omtatah. He is too combative; he lacks sobriety that should characterise such debates-remove O from his name and it sounds mtata. At one point I sympathised with July-Omtatah at times hardly listened to her interventions. I have a feeling that he also has very little respect for women.

One needed not be a “learned fellow” to see the deep wealth of understanding of Katiba that Omtata possesed.

Cyprian wants every one to diagonise everything through his skewed glasses.

Cyprian was unsettled every time Omtata brought things to light to the extent of appointing himself the anchor.

Cyprian’s hypocrisy was littered allover with false humility in pushing katiba views down peoples throat which Julie bought most of the time.

I don’t buy the fallacy that displaying one’s intellectual prowes which your opponents dislike amounts to disrespect to women.
