Nyanza Provincial Commisioner Francis Mutie has told boda boda and motorcyclists operating within Kisumu’s Central Business District ,that the issue between them and the municipality will be resolved amicably after meeting with Kisumu Mayor Sam Okello.

Mutie also further said that henceforth the council should implement any by law in collaboration with the provincial administration.

Earlier hundreds of cyclists operating in Kisumu town poured into the streets paralyzing transport along major streets protesting against the council’s levy fee.

The cyclists marched through the streets up to the council offices where they were dispersed.

Police officers led by Kisumu East District Commissioner Mabeya Mogaka had difficult time driving away the protesting cyclists outside the town centre.

The cyclists are demanding that the council shelved the levying of motor cyclists and the bodaboda cyclists scheduled to start next month.

Mutie also said that the town must be well planned in terms of transport noting that there is need to incorporate transport providers in future plans.

The council last week issued a notice that motorcyclists will pay Sh. 500 monthly while the bicycles cyclists will pay Sh. 300.

Ends.
