Walalahoi,
Daniel Arap Moi retired in 2002 and went home to a very good retirement package. His retirement package is 1000 times what I may ever earn even though when he was president Treasury and his pocket were indistinguishable. Moi caused many citizens of this country personal injury and this country irreversible difficulties but we all, the magnanimous Kenyans, forgave the old man and allowed him to go home and rest. It really meant Moi should have gone home to rest – literally get off our faces. I know too that his access and eligibility to his retirement was made contingent to his disengagement from “active politics”.
Now that Moi engages in politics that is clearly active: campaigning for political candidates and against the Constitution, why should he continue to draw a retirement? Why do we continue to break our backs for people like Mzee Moi who has already subjected us to so many difficulties as individuals, institutions and even a nation. Why doesn’t Moi stay home and play with his great grandchildren. Moi please, get out of our faces.
This mzee is obsessed with power.dont you realize he likes being treated like a prezzo wherever he goes? red carpets are still being rolled up for him, bodyguards, and people lining up to greet him.Power doesnt go that easily.Moi has not yet come to the reality that he is nolonger the president of Kenya.
