Kenya: VISIBILITY

From: odhiambo okecth

I agree.

We must ever remain in the driving seat setting the agenda and moving the masses in a manner that will help change our mindsets. We must be the agents of the change that we need.

We have started a Clean up Nairobi Initiative that will take place every month on the 3rd Saturday. I would like VVM and all willing friends to come on board and help play some crucial role. We must be agents of change with a mission and some vision.

We must not remain forever skeptics who believe that nothing good can come out of the Council. Or that because we pay taxes, it must remain their responsibility. I want to believe that this Initiative gives us the opportunity to remain with the issues as we set the agenda for our people and we will be making our demands for service delivery as well.

As the Chair to the CCNSET, I am listening to all constructive engagement. And we are tabulating those concerns and raising them with the relevant organs of government.

I am in the middle of a bigger plan for 22nd October 2010 for Nairobi. It will be massive and already, one arm of Government has pledges Kshs 2,000,000.00 for the event. We are still reaching out to other institutions, so if you do not hear much from my end, never get worried. I am around staying with the issues on the ground.

I will be inviting your support with these issues. But I will not mind when my own colleagues from VVM or elsewhere start shooting in my direction. It could be friendly fire, but friendly fire also kills. But I want to believe that we are in this process to help change the mindsets as we help Kenyans to stay with the issues governance and leadership. In the process, we will help fight against corruption and demand for service delivery.

It is not easy, and it is not for the faint hearted. It is for all of us to join hands and help the government agencies tasked with various mandates. Our voice and support will energize their collective will and together, we will rise Kenya from the brink of the precipice and help mould her into the kind of a Country that we want.

Let us watch out for 22nd October 2010, it will be the culmination of events that shall have started on the 18th October 2010, but whose ingredients are in the works right now.

Be our guest.

On a clear day, it is said, i can see forever.
It is all about visibility, being visible, being VVM!

There is no alternative, we as a team have raised the expectations. we have lead the people into the desert. There is to turning back, even if we wanted to there is no room to turn BACK!Forward ever, to the destination, dreamt of 47 yrs ago.

We must remain luminous, more visible than ever. Two ways to remain visible:i) with our issues
ii) when others have no issues.

We must strike with decisiveness whenever persons with absence of issues strike the wrong political cord, and when situations against the aspirations of our people come to be.
Let cause things to happen, let us compose the songs for our people.

Let us us cherish democracy like we cherished our childhood cherubim.
Selflessly we can.

Chacha.
