I just returned home after 4 long hours at one of my elders home to welcome his dear mother and maternal aunt to his dear wife. On arrival,
I found that they were taking a nap after 22 hours of traveling that included three stops.
When they woke up,we had a wonderful conversation, one that reminded me of the joy and gladness that the saved will have as they gather from the four corners of the world never to part again.
What impressed me most, is what has always impressed me whenever I carry a conversation with our parents. Here it’s!
1.Their strong faith in the living God.
2.Their joy to know that their children are active in the church
3.Their satisfaction to know that their children are returning to God that which belongs to Him
4.Their excitement to know that their children have friends in diaspora
5.Their happiness to see a pastor come to welcome them
Over and over again, they repeated the above points.
From childhood, you and I have been taught the ways of the Lord. As we became of age, we were supposed to check to make sure that that which we were taught is nothing but the truth.
Since coming here, some of us have remained faithful to “thus saith the Lord.” To you I say, thank you and keep it up.
But my concern is for those who since coming out here, they have forgoten that which they were taught. To you, please know that the prayers of your parents continue to ascend to the throne of grace. They will never rest until they know that all is well with your faith. Oh the faith of our parents! How I yearn for it!
My question is: What exactly happened. There was a time when you were such a God fearing individual. Where did you miss the mark? How long will you continue hurting your parents, those who love you and the good Lord. I appeal to you to turn around and head home. As Mathew asks “What will it benefit a man if he gains the whole world but lose his own soul?” Mathew 16:26! Ever taken time to ponder that!
Just a thought
