In a scale of 1-10,how do you rate your listening skills? By the way, do you know that much of our sufferings come as a result of not listening? How so?

Let me start by telling you how my silliness/stubbornness of not listening almost caused my life yesterday!

1. I did not listen to my wife when she told me to lie down and lift my leg up. I thought I knew better than a trained nurse. Later on, I came to understand how dangerous it was.

2.Instead of staying booth, I decided to go to the bank-a very stupid decision indeed!

3. I defied the Doctors order and drove myself to the hospital!

Oh I regretted when I was made to understand how dangerous my decisions had been!

But do we have any Biblical examples?

1.Adam and Eve chose to listen to the serpent instead of God. That is how we got into this mess!
2.Abraham, a friend of God listened to his wife, Sarah, instead of God. Yes, Ishmael was born, but with what outcome?
3.Egypt was destroyed because Pharaoh chose not to listen to God’s warnings!

What about our time?

1.Do you listen?
2.Husbands hardly listen to their wives.
3.Some wives would rather listen to someone else other than their husbands.
4.Some employees have been fired for not listening!
5.A lot of kids in many homes and schools have hard time listening

But the saddest of all, is:

That the good Lord has given us warning after warning in His sure word.
We know exactly what awaits this world.We even know the cost of not listening. But in spite of all that, we still don’t listen. God have mercy!By the time things make sense to us,it’s forever too late!

And the big question is: For how long should we continue with our stubbornness!

I really feel bad that I would have contributed to my own death. To avoid such silly mistake from happening again, I have re-told my mind to discipline itself and learn to listen. How about you my friend?
