Re: A look @ Moses again!

Writing to the Corinthian believers, the Apostle Paul said, “Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.” (1 Corinthians 10:6.)

Although I have written before on this man of God, I still feel that there is still much more that we can learn from his strenght/weakness!

1.Although Pharaoh planned to kill Moses as an infant, the good Lord worked out things in such away that Moses was brought up and protected by the same person who wanted to kill him.

2.Besides sparing his life,God made it possible for Moses to be brought up by his own mother who taught him the things of God.

3.Even though Moses understood the plan of God and knew without any doubt of God’s power to save his people, Moses not only took things into his own hands, but also went a head of God by killing an Egyptian as a way of revenge. In this way, Moses became an enemy to himself!

4.God in His great mercy undertook to train Moses further by assigning him the work of dealing with the sheep for another 40 years.

5.Moses faced opposition from his own brother and sister who questioned God’s wisdom in choosing Moses alone as a leader. They did not understand why God chose Moses and not them. They even made a big deal of his marriage to a foreigner. At one time, God punished them by allowing leprosy to fall on Miriam. When they cried for help, God did another interesting thing by asking His servant Moses to pray for Miriam!

6.Besides opposition from his siblings, Moses faced all kinds of opposition from the people he was leading. The good Lord who knows all His children better than they know themselves, from time to time punished those who were opposing His man servant. The book of Numbers tells us that at one time, the land opened and the trouble causers were swallowed alive!

7.Although Numbers 12:3 describes Moses as “the meekest man on earth.” he made another silly mistake by hitting the rock twice. Due to this
un-becoming behavior, Moses was not allowed into the earthly Canaan. Here is a lesson for all of us. God will never accept any excuse for sin. Blaming family members, fellow church members or any other will not do. Each one of us will have to give an account on his own.

8.God who knew Moses and how repentent he was, took him to a better place-where God dwells!

To learn more about this man of God, read the book of Exodus and Numbers.

Blessings.
