Fw: Memeorial Service for the late Emmanauel Aguer in Komarock

“Oketch Odhiambo”
Date: Friday, September 18, 2009, 9:17 AM

A memorial Service led by Bishop Ezekiel was conducted in memory of the late Emmanuel Aguer Ater in Komarock Phase 2 this afternoon.

The service was attended by HE Majok Guandong, the Ambassador of Sudan to Kenya, HE John Andragu Duku, Head of Mission, Government of Southern Sudan, Mr. Jervasio O Okot, the Information and Publication Officer, Government of Southern Sudan Nairobi Liaison Office, Mr. Odhiambo T Oketch representing the People of Kenya, and more so, the Right Hon Prime Minister Raila A Odinga, who has stood firmly with us through this trying moment, and many brothers and sisters from the Southern Sudan living in Kenya.

I was accompanied by the officials of the Komarock Youth Secretariat.

In my speech on behalf of the People of Kenya, and on behalf of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya, and on behalf of the Provincial Administration Embakasi District, and on behalf of all the absent local leadership, I converyed our heartfelt messages of condolences to Mr and Mrs Ater Aguer Ater, HE the Ambassador, HE the Head of Mission and to the people of Southern Sudan and Sudan in general.

I assured the family that the Government of Kenya is taking this matter very seriously and all efforts are being done to track done the killers. We are leaving in hard times where criminals are living with us, walking with us, and it must become our responsibility as citizens to help fight crime.

I noted that crime is all over the world, but we must not put efforts in place because insecurity is an issue all over. We must remain vigilant at all times. I assured the family of Ater that all Kenyans share in his loss because a child is never born to the parents alone. A child is born to the entire community and as such, his loss is our loss.

In memory of Emmanuel, I invited the Ambassador and the Head of Mission to join us on 3rd October 2009 to help clean Komarock Canal, an invitation which they accepted. I also made a proposal for the envisaged Arboretum at the Canal to be named Emmanuel Memorial Park in memory of this gallant son of Africa.

This will be officially communicated to the Prime Minister and the Mayor of Nairobi.

Mr Duku thanked the Prime Minister for having called him immediately the report was made, more so, his emotional and material support to the family. He said this was a sign of true brotherhood and as such, the loss of Aguer must not be viewed as conflict between our two countries. This is a criminal act that must be viewed as such.

He passed the message of condolences from the Council of Ministers in Southern Sudan to the family. The council was chaired by HE President Salva Kir. They all shared in the loss of Emmanuel.

He also said that a Primary School is going to be built in Twic County in memory of Emmanuel and it will be named after him.

Mr. Guandong praised the long standing relations between Kenya and Sudan and thank the Government of Kenya for having hosted the people of Southern Sudan for the last 20 years. He passed his messages of condolence to the family and thanked Kenyans for their comfort all along.

Lets all stand up and be strong in Memory of this son of the soil.

Peace and goodwill to all mankind.

Dear MoveOn member,

The Lion is at rest.

Senator Teddy Kennedy passed away last night and our movement lost a hero. His leadership, his vision, and his passion will never be forgotten.

As we grieve, we must honor his memory and re-dedicate ourselves to his fight. Right now, let’s listen to his words. Below is a powerful video that lots of MoveOn members are passing around this morning.

Tonight, please light a candle in your window to memorialize him.

Tomorrow, as Senator Kennedy said, “…the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.”

Tomorrow, let’s re-commit ourselves to achieving the thing that mattered most to him: Quality, affordable health care for every single American.

Thank you for all you do.

The Auburn Police Division is investigating a Thursday morning accident involving two tractor trailer trucks that left one driver dead and another with life threatening injuries, according to Auburn Police Division Assistant Chief Tommy Dawson.

At 3:15 a.m., Auburn police responded to an accident on Interstate 85 near the 57 mile marker where they found a tractor trailer stopped on the shoulder of the southbound lanes that had been struck by a second tractor-trailer traveling in the same direction.

Timothy N. Muraguri, 42, of Acworth, Ga., outside the rig at the time of the collision, was killed instantly according to Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning. Muraguri was pronounced dead at the scene at 4:30 a.m. of blunt force injuries.

The female driver of the second tractor-trailer, whose name has not been released, was transported to East Alabama Medical Center and later to UAB Hospital in Birmingham with critical injuries. She was listed in critical but stable condition.

Muraguri’s truck had broken down and he had pulled to the side of the interstate but was unable to get his truck completely out of the roadway when another southbound tractor-trailer struck his semi from behind while he was partially in the roadway, killing him according to a coroner’s report.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the incident, according to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris in a statement.

The accident closed down the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 and caused traffic to be diverted until 9:30 a.m.

Fellow Family,

I wish I had words that could make our pain less. It’s with heartfelt sorrow that I have received this message concerning the demise of our dear brother, Robinson Awuor. To Robinson’s family and to our dear Arlington Community; let’s pray and keep together in this time of sadness and loss. It’s been a tough battle and worse moments may still await us, but earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.

The bond we had with him in his suffering and the memories & love we share, will forever remain in our hearts.

In sorrow & with love.

TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON

By Magaga Alot

On this day we should all spare a thought for Michael Jackson. He is not the one who pulled down the Berlin Wall and solved all the problems of mankind. He is not the one who was sent to redeem all mankind of its sins. But he rode the crest of a wave of human civilization. That today we are all dropped down and feel so devastated by the benumbing sounds of the tolling bells of his passing, it is not at the passing of a Saint, but at the sad, very sad, passing of a young man who started young, blazed the trail of a unique popular culture and entertainment, and died when he was still young and looking forward to doing more.

For those of the 1970’s generation that were privy to his début into his meteoric entertainment and musical career, it was not as if they just had to dance. They would have danced just the same but not to such good music and dance that only Michael Jackson provided. Back then, there was no one greater than him. For a long time there was never to be; and there will not be another like him for a long time to come. He strode the world stage like a colossus.

In its genre, Michael Jackson’s is a legacy unbeaten in the history of mankind. He had his lows and downs and moments of serious issues, some simply silly or just weird, that would find their way into the courts of law and extensive publicity in the media of communications. On the same balance sheet, however, he also reached dizzying heights of achievement, re-inventing, so to speak, the razzmatazz and touching so many around the world with his inspirational music and message.

When he sang “Don’t stop till you get enough”, there were those who might have taken the cue to indulge a vanity and pursuit of human greed and debauchery to the end. Yet there were others, inspired by the same lyrics and thrills, determined to reach out with human compassion and devotion to create a new world social and economic order.

The world is still what it is today, riddled with vice of all kinds and weighed down with a huge deficit of, so to speak, “the milk of human compassion”. This was not for Michael Jackson’s lack of trying, nor for that matter, necessarily the widely perceived incorrigibility of the human race. His plaintive plea in “I’ll be there”, not to mention such blockbusters as “We are the World” and “Black or White”, were intended to be so uplifting of mankind and indeed they were.

But as with life being what it is, Michael Jackson did not win them all. He won some and he lost some. I think the thrust of his message was to bring out the virtue of being and doing the best in all of us to become Number One. On account of this, many people and Barack Obama have become Number One in their various fields and stations of calling. Simply the Best and Great of All Time, that’s what Michael Jackson was and will always be remembered.

I A M D I S A P P O I N T E D & S A D D E N E D .

People,

Sometimes, people do crazy things that were unexpected. Sometimes they crazily don’t do what is expected. This causes disappointment to those who relate to them at a distance, (the public) and those who know such people well (the confidantes).

It will be in perfect honor to Michael Jackson, and great for us his fans, if he was given a state funeral.

I am disappointed that Barack Obama, or congress has not even thought of offering Michael Jackson a state funeral. Personally, I reached out to Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Barbara Boxer about this, and their answer was that there was no precedent to go by. I insisted that this would be a first and that, with the Democrats being the majority, especially today since they just gained a filibuster proof majority, they preferred not to pus the envelope.

It appears that state funerals in the US are only for sitting or retired presidents. This is despite the description of the term. A state funeral is a public funeral ceremony held to honour heads of state or other important people of national significance. They usually include much pomp and ceremony. Generally, they are held to involve the general public in the mourning process after the family of the deceased give consent.
Michael Jackson was not just important enough, and was of little significance to Americans. Perhaps his body should be handed over to the United Nations, for a global or international coalition funeral.

I am disappointed and saddened, that the King of Pop, was taken to the LA Coroner’s Office in a van instead of a hearse.

I am disappointed, but will feel consoled to learn if Michaels family turned down a state funeral offer, or if he wanted a private funeral in his will. The British were smart to give Diana a princess burial even when she no longer was. Otherwise the world would not have forgiven them.

Interestingly, my 10th great grandfather, Ragem informs me that Michael Jackson had sought to know his roots and had asked for DNA testing and matching. It is reported that the researchers he hired determined that his closest match was with a small nilotic tribe settled in on the shores of lake Victoria in East Africa! Hey Obama and Raila, if US cannot do a state funeral, lets send him to Nyalgunga, because his clan might just be Umira Kager or Aoro Wango before the Portugese scattered us all over the world.

Which reminds me of my second disappointment. Raila was advised to put more energy on constitution change rather than this PEV thing. Ocampo will net fish from either side despite his name telling that he too might be from the shores of the lake we know. There are certain things that are not worth fighting for.

I wish Obama, Pelosi, Boxer and Raila would look at the man or the woman on the mirror, nd tell them the change their ways about certain things, like smoking.

Which Song Is our Favourite Why? Obama, Ask Congress To Give Him A State Funeral.

Jacksonians,

Mine is THE GIRL IS MINE. Indeed, one weekend, I accompanied a friend for burial in Lelechwett. There, in the little shopping center, a beautiful PYT was the shopkeeper. She was dark, my complexion. As if by design, Michael Jackson’s THAT DARK GIRL IS MINE was playing on the transistor radio. She was shy, and had a pretty smile. I like her, fell in love and later asked for Cheruto’s hand in marriage. It has been great. Perhaps Michael Jackson played a role in getting us together. Whether you believe this or not, his song certainly did, and we still hold hands when this song plays.

Michael Jackson, you rocked the world. My 10th great grandfather, Ragem say you still will! Rest in peace Wacho Jacko.

DEATH OF A PIONEER LUO AGRICULTURALIST AND EDUCATIONALIST AGED 92

WHEN THE FINAL CURTAIN FELL ON PIONEER AGRICULTURALIST AND EDUCATIONIST IN LUO-NYANZA MZEE ABSALOM OUYA NYANJONG WHO DIED AT THE AGE OF 92 YEARS.

Writes Leo Odera Omolo in Kisumu.

Death has occurred of Mzee Absalom Ouya Nyanjong’, a pioneer agriculturist and educationist in Nyanza province, who passed away on Wednesday this week at the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu City.

Mzee Ouya was born in 1917 at Nduru in Kabonyo sub-clan of the larger Jo-Kano clan of the Luo community. He received his education at the Maseno CMS Missionary School in the early 1930s and later served as the first African Agricultural Officer in the entire Nyanza Province during the colonial era.

Among his schoolmate at Maseno was the late Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, who was later to become one of the leading African nationalists in Kenya who had championed the struggle for political independence. Jaramogi also become the first Vice President of the Republic of Kenya at the independence in 1963.

Mzee Ouya is survived by several widows. He is credited for having ensure that all his children numbering dozens received good education. And now the young Ouyas are well spread in all corner o the world. One of his sons Mr Lumumba .Ouya a lawyer by training is the Town Clerk of LondianI Town Council in the Rift Valley Province.another lawyer Mr. Alphonce Ouya is currently working in Johannesburg in the Republic of South Africa, while other young Ouyas are found in the United King Dom and the united States.

After serving in the colonial era, Mzee Ouya retired and moved to Muhoroni Settlement area where he bought a large scale sugar cane farm, and established business enterprises in Muhoroni town. Owing to his training in agriculture, Mzee Ouya became an adviser to the Ministry of Lands and Settlement and helped in settling thousands of new settlers in the muhoroni,Koru,Fort-Tennan and Chemelil settlement scheme. He also helped the new farmers established several primary farmers cooperative societies and later Kisumu District Farmers Co-Operative union.
.
Despite of his advancing age, Mzee Oouya was a credited organizer and mobilizer who organized many Harambee self help projects. e contributed generously toward those projects.

In his latr years, Mzee Ouya had dedicated his life to Christianity and single handedly contributed a colossal amount of money for the construction of the ultra modern Odienya CCA Church in Kaboyo Nduru.

A very resourceful man Mzee Ouya’s generosity was well extended to other unfortunate families paying school fees for children from poor families, and tirelessly advising parents to educated their children, always telling the parents that better education was the key note to the realization of development and good life.
