Friends, it is that time of the year when TV ads all scream fathers day sales, the shopkeepes are going to cut down prices of whatever they sell in an effort to entice shoppers to go buy whatever it is they sell in the name of buying a father some gift. Cards have been printed with very touchy messages on them aimed at making daddy feel so special and loved, thanking them for the big and small things they have done for us and others who are more able or for those who have time, they will throw small and big parties in honour of daddy which is very good and acceptable. However, one thing worries me so much, the question of who is a father? Could someone help me understand the meaning of a father? What qualifies one to be a father? Is it by virtue of being able to sire children? Remember even a mad man on the street can easily do that? Animals do the same are they fathers? Sperm donors donate to and babies are formed do they qualify to be fathers? Rapes in some cases have led to pregnancies and children have been born, are those rapists fathers?
Please I only need someone to explain what makes one a father.
Thanks.
David
