KCA STATEMENT: NOV 5TH, 2008

KENYANS ABROAD CONGRATULATE SENATOR BARACK OBAMA, 44th PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:

The Kenyan Community Abroad (KCA), a Washington DC-based non-profit organization of Kenyans living in the USA and other locations both within and outside of Kenya, congratulates Senator Barack Obama on his historic election to the office of President of the United States of America.

We also extend our congratulations to the Vice President-Elect, Senator Joe Biden, to Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, and indeed to the citizens of United States of America at this great moment in the history of your country and the world.

American citizens have made it known in decisive and unambiguous terms that they have faith in President-Elect Obama to be their leader at a very challenging time for the country and the world.

Owing to Obama’s Kenyan roots, Kenyans at home and in the Diaspora have particularly enjoyed the attention our country has generated globally. KCA sees this spotlight as an important opportunity and challenge for Kenyans to demonstrate to ourselves and the rest of the world that, like the Americans, we will overcome the divisions and challenges that almost destroyed our country earlier in the year, and embrace each other as one people.

We note with admiration the way elections are carried out in United States, including the electoral system, the campaigns, the candidates, the manner in which issues are addressed, and how American citizens have conducted themselves throughout the process. This is especially instructive for Kenyans, given the post-election violence and socio-political discord that gripped our own country during late 2007 and early 2008.

KCA members, and indeed all Kenyans abroad, find great lessons in this election that we can borrow to give hope to our country again, just like Barack Obama and the American people have brought hope back to America, and indeed to the world.

Congratulations again to President-Elect Obama and to all American citizens! You have taken us to the mountaintop, and we have all seen a brighter day on the other side. Now we know that, together, we can make dreams come true…yes, we can!

You are going to learn through the hard way………I hope, it is not too late for Kibaki to ceede power and let Raila and ODM have their rightful win to Raila could enjoy the Presidency of Kenya and ODM enjoy their rightful struggle and win…..  All facts prove Kibaki stole election and PNU enthroned themselves strategically to hold important postings to satisfy their selfishness, that is what is important for the world to know who they truely are.  This Kikuyu culture must change as long as they still want to remain and belong to Kenya.

EAC EARNS KUDOS FROM GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS

– Diplomats review performance, praise “increasingly dynamic and achieving” East African Community –

By Leo Odera Omolo

: The Annual Meeting of the EAC Partnership Fund was held in Arusha on 3 November 2008. The meeting was chaired by the Secretary General of the East African Community, Amb Juma Mwapachu. It was attended by senior officials of EAC and the representatives of Belgium ,
Finland ,
France , Federal Republic of Germany,
Ireland , Japan ,
Norway ,
Sweden , Canada ,
Republic of Korea ,
United Kingdom ,
European Commission and the World Bank, SIDA, GTZ, DFID and CIDA who are participating in the EAC Partnership Fund. The meeting reviewed the performance of the EAC Partnership Fund since its commencement of operations in July 2006.

The EAC Partnership Fund was established in 2006 to rationalize the use, and improve the co-ordination and accounting of the development partners’ resources earmarked for support of the East African Community’s priority programmes. Since the establishment of the Fund, the identification of the programmes, the implementation and accounting of projects has benefited from the application of clear guidelines apportioning roles and responsibilities to the development partners on the one hand and the East African Community on the other.

Secretary General satisfied at performance of Partnership Fund

Addressing the opening session of the Meeting the Secretary General of the East African Community, Amb. Juma Mwapachu said the review was necessary to enable the parties of the Partnership Fund to have a clearer appreciation of the impact, achievements and any shortcomings of the Fund. He said the review of the Fund’s performance would lead to a mutual understanding on how to improve the Fund’s systems and operations and renew commitment to the EAC development partnership.

The Secretary General noted that with the initial disbursement of contributions amounting to 645,000 USD to start off the Fund in FY 2007/08, the resources of the Fund rose to USD 1.9 million during the same Financial Year when the development partners increased their contributions.

The main activities and projects that were supported during this first phase of the implementation of the Fund included the ongoing negotiations of the Protocol on the EAC Common Market , various activities of Fast Tracking the integration of Rwanda and Burundi, Capacity Building for the EAC Secretariat ; and support to key Studies and consultancies. The expenditure rate of 93.6% was realized during that Financial Year.

The Secretary General expressed satisfaction at the performance of the Fund; and thanked the development partners for their sustained robust support of the Fund. He said that partly on account of the good expenditure performance, but also due to the demands of the expanding regional programme, the development partners had been willing to increase their contributions to the Fund. In the current 2008/09 FY, the development partners have committed USD 7.7 million under the Partnership Fund.

Apart from the Partnership Fund programmes, the development partners are supporting various projects and programmes outside the Partnership Fund, in particular, the EAC programmes under the 10th EDF (European Development Fund), covering Infrastructure Programmes; Political Integration; Natural Resources Development and Food Security; as well as projects under the Regional Integration Support Programme (RISP) which would focus on the consolidation of the EAC Customs Union; conclusion of negotiations and implementation of the EAC Common Market Protocol; the EPA implementation and monitoring; laying the foundation for the formation of EAC Monetary Union; enhancing Private-Public-Partnership ; and Institutional development of the EAC Secretariat , Organs and Institutions.

EAC-development partners relations based on mutual benefit, respect and trust

Among the highlights of the ongoing development partners’ resources mobilization and utilization in the immediate past period have been: the support by Germany to the EAC Headquarters construction with a grant of 14 million Euros, in addition to the various supports through the GTZ programme and contribution to the Partnership Fund; the support by the World Bank to the Lake Victoria Basin Commission of USD 200,000 ; and the support by SIDA to the regional HIV-AIDS Programme of Swedish Kronor 27,500,000 for five years.

Also on stream are Finland’s commitment of 1.5 million Euros out of which 1 million Euros has been deposited in the Partnership Fund Account; Denmark’s disbursement of USD 1.5 million, not to mention Germany, Norway and Sweden for their contributions in the past two years; the EU support in various programmes under RISP, Regional Information Technology Support Programme ( RICTSP ) and Conflict Prevention, Management and Resolution (CPMR) ; the commitment of support by DFID for various programmes that is at an advanced stage of conclusion; and the arrival of New Members, with Belgium and France set to sign their MOUs with EAC; while the governments of Holland and Ireland are in the process of finalizing documentations for joining the Partnership Fund.

The Secretary General said the EAC development partnership has been carefully nurtured over the years between the EAC and its development partners and has reached a high point of maturity. He said that the evolution of fruitful and mutually beneficial relationship between EAC and its development partners has been deliberate within the context of the common pursuit of a principled economic partnership of mutual concern, mutual benefit, mutual trust and mutual respect.

He said the EAC was committed to strengthening the coordination and harmonization mechanism of the Partnership Fund and that, to this extent, every close attention would be paid to strengthening the EAC Projects Implementation Unit with a view to increasing its capacity to monitor, implement and effectively report on the supported projects and programmes.

EU Head of Delegation lauds increasingly visible, efficient EAC

Speaking on behalf of the development partners, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Tanzania , Ambassador Tim Clarke commended the EAC for its increasingly dynamic posture. He said the EAC was becoming more visible, efficient and effective and its value and impact was being felt and widely appreciated by the people. He said the increased contributions to the Partnership Fund as well as growth in the membership of the Fund was indicative of the recognition of the importance and great potential of the Partnership Fund as a key contributor to the realization of EAC’s development objectives.

Amb. Clarke said the EAC had entered a definitive phase of deepening integration with the ongoing negotiations of the Common Market and the EPAs, the process of the Tripartite – EAC, SADC and COMESA – Arrangement; and the overall enlargement of the Community with the integration of Rwanda and Burundi . He said these developments had generated great interest, lively debate and discourse in the regional media about the EAC which demonstrated health y interest in EAC affairs and growing popular appreciation of the importance of the regional organization.

VANILA IS TO BE INTRODUCED AS NEW HIGHLY VALUED CASH CROP IN WESTERN AND NYANZA PROVINCES OF KENYA .

Agro-Business Feature By Leo Odera Omolo

A locally incorporated enterprise is working on a tentative programme to introduce the highly valued Vanila as a new cash crop for commercial farming and production in the suburb and rural areas around Kenya ¢s Lake Victoria region.

Mabwa Enterprise Limited is working in collaboration with other agricultural service providing companies on a very tentative programme in the interior part of the country around Lake Victoria .
This private company is headed by a former Kenyan career diplomat Dr. Kipkorir Rana.

The company is also collaborating with the Maseno University , which is expected to provide the training of farmers{tot}, and research and analysis for the commercial growing and production of high quality products.

Mabwa Enterprise Limited in collaboration with other service providing companies will provide the agro-business service such as inputs, seedlings, training of farmers, professional and monitoring services as well as marketing

According Dr. Rana, the project is aimed at wealth creation through enterprise development, and employment opportunities for the jobless hundreds of Kenyan youth in both the suburban and rural areas of Lake Victoria region around the Kisumu City .

Primarily the project is targeting 355 small scale farmers and 23 curers{industrialists} to build the foundation of an enterprising Vanila industry in the lake region.

Vanila is a high value crop that has to be introduced under highly skilled labor and management. The crop from the family of orchids, classified as Vanila plantolia was first cultivated by Totonic people who inhabit the Mazantla Valley on the Gulf Coast of Mexico in the present day state of Veracruz . Its cured fruit{Vanila Beans} are the second most expensive spice in the world market after Saffron.

Vanila has a potential of becoming a major cash crop in the Coastal and Lake Victoria regions of Kenya and the entire eastern African region surpassing all the economic and commercial value of other crops such as tea, coffee and cut-flowers in foreign exchange earnings.

Vanila grow as a vine, climbing on existing trees and if left alone can grow upwards as high as possible producing few flowers. On the farm, workers periodically fold of the high [parts of the plant downwards to make it accessible. The downward growth of the plant also greatly stimulates flowering.

For along time {nearly 300 years}, Mexico held a virtual monopoly over the production and sale of the crop because its flowers can only be naturally pollinated by a specific Melipone bee species found only in Mexico .

But in 1819, French entrepreneurs shipped the first Vanila seedlings to the Indian Ocean islands of Reunion and Mauritius . And with the discovery of a simple and efficient artificial pollination method by a 12 year old African slave named Edmond Albius from Reunion Island , the prospects for commercial production of Vanila become a reality in tropical Africa .

This method is knowledge based and labor intensive. By the year 1998, Madagascar , Reunion and the Comoros Islands produced 80 per cent of the world¢s total production of estimated at 200 metric tons.

The main use for Vanila and its by-products is for flavoring food, drinks, soaps, ointment, perfumes, and incenses. This, according to an expert, is done by adding Vanila extract or cured Vanila pods. In the liquid preparation, natural Vanila gives a brown or yellow colours to preparation, depending on the concentration.

Vanila is also used extensively in baking and dairy products such as milk. yoghurts, and ice creams, and deserts, chocolate, cookies, pancake and soft cheeses. Vanila flavored also available in liquors, soda beverages, tea and coffee.

Vanila is grown commercially in many tropical regions of the world for domestic consumption and exports. a steadily rising prices

In 2006, Madagascar produced 6,200 metric tons of Vanila, which was an average of 59 per cent of the globe production. Other top producers are Indonesia [2399 tons],the People¢s Republic of China {1,000 tons}, Mexico {306 tons}, Uganda {195 tons}, Kenya and other producers only produced 8 tons of cured Vanila during he same period.

The production of this highly valued cash crops has never satisfied the world increasing demand. But with increased Chinese and Indian middle class consumers, the world is likely to see steadily rising prices.

Presently, though Vanila prices are on the lower side. .A kilo of green Vanila is fetching USD 57 while that which is cured is priced between USD 25 and UASD 250 based on quality .As prized commodity that is also affected by the vagaries of weather. The crop has its boom and in 2003 prices had shot up reaching the peak of USD 550 per a kilo.

.As an environmentally friendly, the Vanila project in Kisumu and its environs is a private sector initiative, therefore its introduction in the lake region as a cash crop is expected to have a profound and positive economic impact on the region that for many years had relied on sugar cane farming and fishing as its economic mainstay.

The company, which is behind the Vanila introduction project envisions that a one acre plantation costing less than one million Kenyan shillings on a piece of land belonging to a farmer. The Vanila vine takes three years before producing green beans or pods.

Those initial production during the third year is only 50 per cent level at one kilo per vine. From the fourth year, the vine produces about 2 kilos of green Vanila ever year and thereafter.

Consequently for this important project to succeed, there is a need to provide a financial package to local farmers that can caters for financial costs in addition to operational costs during the first three years of a possible seven year loan..

Experts projections is that for a farmer to plant an acre of Vanila, such a farmer would need approximately Kshs 700,000 and an additional Kshs 350 million as maintenance and operational cost during the second and third year, the amount which will be beneficial to the financing partners in the long run gaining valuable incomes.

Each Vanila farmer, according to the project¢s study is expected to clear the loan repayment in full amount of loan taken plus interests and other financial charges totallin Kshs 44,423.. A three years starters loan for each curer and industrialist of Vanila will need a financial backing of Kshs 7 million, that will realize a Kshs 1.9 muillion in accrued interests.

The financial costs are calculated at 14 per cent per annum. The prices of green Vanila could flactuates at time, but expected not to fall below Kshs 300 per kilo

As that of cured at USD 50 per kg depending on the exchange rates of the dollar.

.The financiers partners will earn Kshs 157.9 million from the expected farm loans and Kshs 45,086,046 from the curing factories and more from trade financing.

As a community service project, and to ensure the success of the project the promoting excellence in production, the Mabwa Enterprise Limitd has requested its financial partners to provide Maseno University with a grant of Kshs 10.8 million in financing the project. Such collaboration in the community between farmers and entrepreneurs, the financing institute, and Maseno University is expected to create and the most lucrative industry Kisumu City and its environs that at the end of ten years will generate income of Kshs 689,217,235 for the 355 collaborating farmers and an estimated average of Kshs 747,500,000 for the 23 curers-industrialists.

The grant aid of Kshs 10.8 for Maseno University is expected to be utilized towards the development of an approximately 10 acres of Vanilla plantation with 8,000 vanila vines and 10,000 atrophic plants with equal number of banana and other crops will initiate university a community outreach program that will promote real, lasting development. The funds will also assist the university in capacity building, creating a prototype curing factory, and laboratory facilities

.Sea side beach land and low altitude lake region are the ideal situation for vanilla plantations to flourish as they do in Madagascar , Comoros and in the Mukono area of Uganda .

The most suitable climate for vanilla is hot and humid weather with the soil slightly sandy with clay and river silts. Organic farming methods that are combined with high quality production and supervision carried out by trained farmers can sustain this new industry in Kenya .

Like most commercially successful agricultural crops such as sugar, coffee and tea, the vanilla crop takes approximately 2 to 3 years to produce its first substantial crop/ Thereafter. a vanilla plant produces approximately 2 kilos of green vanilla every six months. And in order to sustain the venture to its frustration, the farmers and entrepreneurs will require development finance and soft loans.

Farmers in the region have welcomed the new venture with enthusiasm as its plantation will extend into several districts around the Lake Victoria froim Busia and Bungom,a in Western Province to all the districts surroundings the lake in Nyanza Province.

THE FISH HARVEST IN LAKE VICTORIA HAS DECLINED BY 29 PER CENT FORCING THE CLOSING DOWN OFM DOZENS OF PROCESSING PLANTS.

Business Feature By Leo Odera Omolo

RESEARCHERS and experts have reported that fish catches from Lake Victoria, which is jointly owned by Kenya , Tanzania and Uganda which fetches about USD 300 million annually, have dropped by as much as 29 per cent since 2005.

According to a report by the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization an Inter-Governmental Organization parastatal of the East Africa Community, leading the drop was the delicious tilapia whose catch fall by 29 per cent followed by the most highly prized Nile at 20 per cent.

Tilapia’s drop was partly responsible for the closure of 10 fisheries processing factories, leaving only 25 factories, which are now producing g way below capacity, according to surveys presented at an East African Community fisheries meeting held in the Ugandan capital, Kampala last week.

The catches of the other species like dagaa {Omena} remained relatively stable at around 600,000 tons although with mild fluctuations, but contributed 60 per cent of the overall catches.

“It is evident that the stocks of the major commercial fish species are under intense fishing pressure and biomass in declining sharply,” observed a Tanzanian researcher Robert Kayanda who noted in a paper presented at the regional meeting in Kampala .

Fishermen makes a major contribution to the economies of the countries around the lake, with the beach value of catch now exceeding USD 350 million per annum, while total export earnings of Nile perch were about USD 310 million in 2007.

“The qualitative changes in fishing methods appear to be driven by declining Nile perch and catches and could lead to further depletion of these fisheries,” experts said during last week’s regional fisheries meeting for the East African Community fisheries sector.

The International market for Nile perch- currently standing at 300,000 tons-has led to a scramble for fisheries resources..

In 1999, Kenya had 38,340 fishermen, 11,515 fish craft and 143 registered landing beaches. Uganda had nearly 35,000 fishermen while Tanzania had 120,000 fishermen operating in Lake Victoria .

The mean standing stocks of Nile perch estimated from acoustic survey declined from 1.2 million to 0.55 million tons between 1999-2001 and 2005-2006 while distribution indicated higher densities in the northern and south eastern quadrants of the lake. The pelagics [dagaa}and Haplochrominus} show an increasing trend in bniomass from o.8 million to 1.5 million tons over the same period.

The recent surveys indicated that Nile perch and tilapia are being over fished on the Tanzania side where it is estimated that six million hooks{out of total 10 million}have been deployed to catch the two fish species.

Research shows that hooks in the form of the long line makes up the most important gear used for catching Nile perch as they are cheap.

“In addition, the Nile perch hook fishery uses live bait whose main source is still the wild stocks in the lake and its basin. This suppressed the recovery of these species, causing a negative impact on the lakes biodiversity ,”researcher Mr. D.Chitamwebwa said ,”.

Currently, the annual production of Lake Victoria is estimated to be one million, with about 30 per cent of the catches being Nile perch.

From 2000 to 2003 lake wide coordinated biomass formal surveys were conducted as well as catch assessment from 2005 to 2008.

He surveys noted that there has been a 25 per cent increase in long beach seines and an eightfold increase of monofilament nets between 2006 and 2008

In September 2007, the fisheries management committee of the EAC considered the declines of the Nile perch a regional crisis and organized a meeting with industrial fish procession in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi two months later.

At the Nairobi meeting, Kenya agreed to the implementation of a proposed self policing of industrial fish processors.

Congratulations to President Barrack Obama

As was expected, the people of the United States of America did not disappoint.

They came one by one and voted for Senator Barack Obama in all their numbers so convincingly that Senator McCain did not waste time conceding defeat.

This election has been historic in many senses. First, the people of the USA have effectively put to rest the question of race and just like Martin Luther King Jr said, they have judged a candidate not by the colour of his skin, but rather, the content of character.

The people of USA have proved to the world once again that democracy knows no colour, democracy only knows the will of the people. Congratulations.

The American elections were fought on two fronts; the economy and national security. President Obama put up a case that won the hearts and convinced most people that he was equal to the job. This is just like it should be.

In Kenya, we must learn not to fear loosing elections, for such fears can be as destructive as we witnessed in January of this year. We must learn to respect the will of the people by putting up credible issues on the campaign platform.

Once that is done, the best man should be let to win.

This effectively calls for a few changes in Kenya. With President Obama in White House, can we expect greater support to strengthen our institutions of governance. This must start with a complete overhaul of the Judiciary where we must seek all the support to remove the political Judges who are agents of state impunity.

This class of Judges are used by the state to foster oppression and maintain the status quo with regard to all corruption cases. These Judges will subjugate the course of justice as their oil the forces of corruption with impunity.

Secondly, we must be helped to create a new independent electoral body. The farce that we have in place is time tested and proven empty. We must have laws in place that guarantee the independence of the electoral body so that they do not cow-tow to the whims of the president at any time.

Thirdly, the government of Kenya must immediately open Western Kenya. It is gratifying to note that the road to Kogelo is being made now and that Kenya Power & Lighting Company is at this moment installing power to Mama Sarah’s home. This is not enough.

Provision of electric power should not have waited the election of President Obama. It should have been a priority earlier. Same with the road. It is sad that the road linking Nairobi to Western Kenya has for a long time been in ruins. We expect the government to build and maintain a good road link across Western Kenya.

Lastly, the government must think about tourism for the Western circuit. This must come with a good airpot in Kisumu, good beaches devoid of hyasinth, good hotels in the region and all such things that promote tourism.

All is not lost. It is just the beginning for change we can all believe in. Congratulations to the American people for electing one such capable son of the World [Wuod Oganda].

There is one thing that I have learnt from the Obama campaigns; the power of mass mobilization.

At KCDN, as we approach 5th December 2008, can we mobilize as many friends as possible to be of help to our cause?

I want to believe that we will all be happy sharing the joy of
Christmas and New Year festivities with our families in the full
knowledge that we have equally brought happiness to some child who
otherwise could have had no access to the tools needed for going to
school.

As we celebrate with Barrack Obama on the expected landslide win in the
US elections today, let us spare a moment in reflection, about that
Child who needs to go to school courtesy of Free Primary Education as
offered by the Government of Kenya, but misses on text books, exercise
books, stationery, and does not have a school bag, shoes nor uniform.

Together, we can make it happen. Let us unite in our diversity for the

I’m the Chief Financial Officer for Barack Obama’s campaign. I track the donations coming in and the expenses going out.

I asked for the opportunity to write to you directly so that I could try to explain what’s happening right now.

This weekend the McCain campaign said they would outspend us by $10 million in the final days.
This is on top of recent news that, as of October 15th, our opponents
had $20 million more in the bank than our campaign and the DNC combined.

We knew the McCain campaign was saving its resources for a last-minute
blitz, and now we know just how much they’ll pour into it.

No matter what, we need to match what our opponents are spending in the
final stretch. We can’t slow down between now and Election Day.

If you give today — any amount — you could be one of 5 first-time
donors who will have a front row seat for the big Election Night event
in Chicago with Barack.

Make a donation of $5 or more right now:

There’s no doubt about it, supporters like you have fundamentally
changed how presidential campaigns are funded. You drive this campaign.

That’s why Barack wants you to be there on Election Night as the results come in.

If you’re selected, we’ll fly you and a guest in and put you up in a
hotel. You’ll go backstage at the big event and — no matter what
happens — you’ll have a front row seat to history as we celebrate the
supporters who got us over the finish line.

Any donation counts — whatever you can afford. Make a donation of $5
or more before midnight Sunday and you could have a front row seat to
history on Election Night:

https://donate.barackobama.com/frontrow

These last 2 days, we have to redouble our efforts. And we’re counting on you more than ever before.

Let’s make this happen.

Thanks,
MM

Marianne Markowitz
Chief Financial Officer
Obama for America

P.S. — If you can’t make a donation, you can help get us across the finish line by volunteering to help get out the vote:

Black people aren’t the only ones worried about embarrassing themselves if Obama wins.

Here are a few pointers for white people.

1. Don’t personally congratulate all your black friends.

Black people are not a sports team, and Obama did not win the Super Bowl.

2. Don’t declare that you “never thought you’d see the day.”

You never thought you’d see the day?

3. Don’t start crossing the street in order to walk next to a black person.

President Obama is glad you support racial reconciliation, but he takes a hard line against jaywalking.

4. Don’t name drop “Dr. King.”

If you absolutely must make some comment about how this is a victory for civil rights, pick a marginally less obvious figurehead.

5. Don’t use the phrase “white people” in any way that suggests it doesn’t include you.

Contrary to popular belief, having voted for Obama does not make you even “semi-down .” Sorry if there was any confusion there.

Re: As the world waits for November 4th, 2008!

Watching the daily news, listening to what has become a daily conversations, reading the papers, and watching and reading the daily analysis of the election by the pundits makes one believe that the election bar in the United States of America has been raised very high and the disappointment will no doubt be felt in some quarters for many years to come!

It seems very obvious that all eyes will be in the mighty and powerful United states of America, where her citizens will do their part in going into the polls to chose the next President and some other leaders.

While I am not a politician as such, I have keenly watched and faithfully followed this election. My prayers and thoughts are with all the candidates as they try to fulfill their dreams!

Whether anyone likes it or not, there are going to be some winners and losers! While the winners will celebrate, the losers will feel the pain for some time.

Does anyone know who the winner will be! No, not a single human being but God, who alone knows the end from the beginning. He alone knows what’s good for this great Nation and who among the candidates will contribute to the growth of His kingdom here on earth! And because of that, I go to bed tonight knowing without any doubt that the good Lord has already anointed someone!

From what I have been hearing, it seems like quite a number are going to be very disappointed. To all, I would like to offer the following suggestions!

1. Know that whatever happens, God is still the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

2. Whoever aspires to be the leader must learn to be a follower!

3.The world and all the things that have always being of a great concern will sure come to an end.

4.The one disappointment that I seem to care about more than all the other disappointments, is when the son of man returns to take His children home only to find my name missing.

So even as we prepare for the outcome of the United states election, let us not forget to prepare for His second coming!

Like always, I will make that my number one priority! How about you dear one!

What are you looking forward to today/ this week?

Hi, Fellow YP’s,

I’m trying to get in the habit, of first thing in the morning, thinking of at least three things that i’m looking forward to in the day, or for the week. I’m finding it helps me to be a happier person.

This week i’m looking forward to:

1. Obama Victory.

2. Anticipating a positive reply to some proposals i made last week.

3. Having a REALLY GOOD next weekend. My salary arrived today.

What are you looking forward to today or this week?

Re: To hell with your – Who is Barack Obama Wilson Ngibuini

Hey!

What’s being “Muslim” got to do with leadership anyway…i don’t ge it!! When Colin Powell was endorsing Obama! He was concerned about some people in the Mcain Camp referring to Obama, as a Muslim and this is what he said [Colin Powel], “He’s always been a Christian. But the really right answer is, what if he is? Is there something wrong with being a Muslim in this country? The answer’s no, that’s not America,” Powell said. “Is there something wrong with some 7-year-old Muslim-American kid believing that he or she could be president?”

Think about it!!!

Very interesting and something that should be considered in your choice.

If you do not ever forward anything else, please forward this to all your contacts…this is very scarey to think of what lies ahead of us here in our own United States…better heed this and
pray about it and share it. We checked this out on “snopes.com “. It is factual. Check for yourself.
Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii , to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr.,a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel , Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHIEST from Wichita, Kansas .Obama’s parents met at the University of Hawaii .When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya . His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.?

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocate to Indonesia . Obama att ended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta . He also spent two years in a Catholic school. Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, “He was once a Muslim, but
that he also attended Catholic school.”Obama’s political handlers are attempting to make it
appear that he is not a radical. Obama’s introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this
influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son’s education.Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama’s mother,Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Obama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta .Wahabism is the RADICAL teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world. Since
it is politically expedient to be a CHRISTIAN when seeking major public office in the United States , Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to
downplay his Muslim background. ALSO, keep in mind that when he was sworn into office he
DID NOT use the Holy Bible, but instead the Koran. Barack Hussein Obama will NOT recite the Pledge of Allegience nor will he show any reverence for our flag. While others place their hands over their hearts, Obama turns his back to the flag and slouches. Let us all remain alert concerning Obama’s expected presidential candidacy. The Muslims have said they plan on destroying the US from the inside out, what better way to start than at the highest level – through the President of the United States , one of their own!!!! Please forward to everyone you know. Would you want this man leading our country?…… NOT ME!!!

Dear Friends of Bidiiafrika:

As a 7th generation African American who enjoys participating in this listserv, let me assure you that this time WILL be different. Senator Barack Obama WILL win the presidential election tomorrow night. I have been a longtime supporter of Obama (June 2007), having followed his political rise since 2003. I was also a very active campaign worker in the winning election of Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick’s victory in 2006. It was virtually the SAME campaign, just run within my state. Deval Patrick is the first black governor of Massachusetts and a friend of mine. He and Barack Obama are friends…and the same people who ran Patrick’s campaign are running Obama’s campaign! It’s the same grassroots campaign, just run on a bigger scale across the US.

The hate letter that Wilson has forwarded is the fear factor being generated by the Republican party and their operatives to cause concern among white voters not to support Obama. Too many factors are causing many voters to ignore hate mail like this and support Obama.

America is going to change for the better under an Obama administration. It will take time, but change is coming to America.

God Bless America. God Bless Barack Obama and his family. God Bless the good people of America, Kenya, and all the people of this planet.

Warmly,
Carole

Thanx Carol Thomas,

Thank you so much for telling wilson Wambugu Ngibuini off. Yes, he is mean black heart tribalist full of hate scandalous evil mind against anything relatated to Luo. He is a Kikuyu, brother to Lawyer Gikandi Ngibuini practicing in Mombasa who stand acusing fingers for misusing the legal bar to KANU advantage, swindled and blackmailed clients who for various reasons are ignorant of the law and for many years have participated underground and thrived with those who planned to kill and manipulate for political advantage from people of different tribes in Mombasa on behalf for KANU and Cohorts so to stay in business and in the circle of friends – who equally tried in many occasions to vie for Parliamentary seat in Mombasa and lost.

They are racially rejects whose times are limited (the clock is ticking in their quarters giving them butterflies in their stomach) and are not respected amongst the good people and the local Citizenry of the Community in Mombasa.

Shame on Wilson Wambugu Ngibuini, and shame on you with your HATEFUL Kikuyu Agenda.

Yes, its too late Mr. Wilson Wambugu Ngibuini, Obama is going to win and win BIG.

I just spoke with Carol who is an America in the campaign trail for Obama, who believes, like many others in Obamas’ principles for CHANGE, and you can do nothing about it. You cannot beat it. Pole Sana!!!!!

I am glad Carol told you on your face, you think this is KENYAs CHEAP POLITICS.

Anyway, I don’t wat to waste my time writing so much to some semi-illitrate goon. You can go to hell if you wish..we don’t give a hoot. Obama is winning and your stupidity cannot and will never stand on his way. He is way more intelligent than your thick head can understand. Simply shut your stinking mouth..keep quiet if you have nothing better to wrire about.

Useless miserable thing! Free advice: go back to school and become something better than ‘technical support’.

Who is this Wilson Wambugu?.

Wilson you should seek understanding like a thirsty man lost in the desert seeks water-with fearful determination, because you really need it. True sophistication can only be attained by mixing natural talent with appropriate amounts of education, experience, and culture. Wilson I have failed completely to understand your point you wrote about Obama.

Wilson are you STUPID or you were just born DAMN?. If you were born damn and you failed to get the right type of knowledge then I will just have to blame the type of government in which you grew up, that government commited a very big crime. Do not just say you are from Kenya for heavenly sake. Kenya is already having a nobel prize winner. If you were born in the USA then you can just see what the republicans have do to you, I think you should talk to your lawyer about what type of knowledge the republicans have instilled into your small skull. Sorry brother you have wasted my time for nothing,

Hello Team,

I am at a lose of words seeing such an urgly exchange from home boys and girls. Ladies and gentlemen, let us not waste time on a misinformed friend and I use that lightly in the event Wambugu is listening. Please the likes of you make us wonder why we still share a forum. WATCH TOMORROW and brother Obama will be president. You can continue wondering. And even if he does not win, I am proud to be a son of an African man just like brother Obama.

I am happy to see the world recognise one of our own for the highest place in the world and while we wait for God to return his glory, we can share the glory He gives us in the man Obama.

God’s love and Grace to you all and stop the unnecessary fights.

One of you.

Congratulations to the people of Zambia for electing Mr Rupia Banda as their new President in an election that went rather smoothly.

It is gratifying to note that Mr Michael Sata was leading until VP Kalonzo Musyoka arrived as head of the Kenyan delegation to witness the swearing in ceremony that was to follow after the results were declared.

The President with universal appeal

The people of America will have voted for Migosi Barrack Obama to be the next President of the United States of America by this time tomorrow.

As they do this, the people of the world are all in agreement that Barrack Obama be the next President of the USA.

Kenya has not been left behind in her support for Senator Obama. Led by our PM, most of the cabinet ministers, assistant ministers, members of parliament and ordinary folk are all rooting for an Obama victory. I know President Kibaki will lend his support before the cock crows three times!

Kenya has alot to benefit from an Obama presidency and we must all join our brothers and sisters in the US to help put an end to all the racial barriers that tend to pull all progressive people backwards.

Time has come for the world to be united in the new search for new world order. The new world order that came with President George Bush has almost led America to the dogs.

With a supplus of over 8 trillion US dollars when President Clinton left office, the 8 years of George Bush has brought misery to most Americans and the entire world.

Time has come for Americans to act decisively so that a new world order is created under the command of the indifatiguable Barack Obama. With support from the whole world, Americans cannot afford to add George Bush four more years.

As for Kenyans, the US election is a lesson for us on how to do it. Let us embrace the culture of friendship as we electioneer.

KCDN: FPE-community support initiative!

Dear Good people,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to a noble Christmas season charity activity whose effect will last long past the Christmas season and that gives you the opportunity to put a smile on the faces of school children from poor households in Nairobi’s Eastlands by a gift of school text book(s).

With the introduction of free primary education (FPE) in Kenya, many children from poor families who were headed for the jails of illiteracy are now joyful struggling to learn how to read and write. FPE is keeping the children’s dream of becoming a president, a doctor, a pilot, a teacher, an engineer among others. However, these children’s joy is often disrupted because their parents cannot afford to buy school text books and writing materials; and the situation is worse for orphaned children.

Several non-government community based initiatives are grappling with the challenges of lack of school text books and writing materials to ensure that “no child is left behind” in the FPE. Komarock Community Development Network (KCDN) is one such “FPE-Community Support Initiative” working in the Eastlands of Nairobi City.
The initiative is currently working with an average of 250 school children who are in great need of support. We invite you to donate old or new text books from the list given below. You will find a copy of email pasted (and highlighted) below for more information.

FYI: KCDN is a community based member organization of Bunge la Mwananchi social movement. KCDN is a sterling example of community initiatives for building sustainable future communities. For more information on how you can be involved ( where to send your gift, how to MPESA, how to send money with WESTERN MONEY Transfer or which bank to wire your donation) please use these contacts:

Dear Friends,

I really want to extend my appreciation, on behalf of The Network [KCDN], for the positiveness that you have shown towards supporting the 250 children in this Initiative.

We have an ambitious programme, but we do believe that together, we can make it happen. This is why I want to appeal to each one of us to invite 2 more friends to join us in this effort.

That contribution that we will make, will help a needy child to have some uniform, some books, some shoes and have stationery. That contribution that you will make will bring light to the face of that child.

That contribution you make will empower our drive at The Network to be of more help to the needy cases.

As we thank the following people, let us have this list of friends grow by each one of us inviting a friend to this initiative;
1] Mr Jairus K’Onyiego
2] Mr Sammy Korir

*** Mr Okumba Miruka lost her Mum on Wednesday at 1pm. Funeral arrangements are ongoing and we will post the burial details shortly.

As we come to the end of the month, the month that will see a lot of activity at our KCDN offices as we prepare for 5th of December 2008 when we will give these items out to the children, we want to make a special appeal for financial support.

We want to pay our monthly rent, our monthly bills for electricity and water, and we will engage 10 volunteers to help with the volume of work in preparation for 5th Decemeber. We will make several phone calls, and also pick whatsoever support that we can get from willing friends. Our budget for all this is Kshs 153,000.00.

This hence is a special appeal to help with mobilization at our office. If you are willing to help us on this, you can send your financial support to me directly via Western Union Money Transfer, Mpesa your support through tel 0724 365 557 , or direcly wire your support to KCDN Account at Barclays Bank of Kenya, Haile Sellassie Avenue Branch, Branch Number; 082. We will acknowledge all the financial support that we receive and kindly invite 2 more friends to join us.

CHECK OUT OUR NEW WEBSITE

As the company that opened up the market for Kenyan artists in North America, we feel that it is time to take it a notch higher. We started off with doing U.S. tours for Kenyan artists for the Kenyan market back in 2000 with Redykyulass and then followed with Redsan, Dj Adrian, Gidigidi Majimaji amd more. We now feel that it is time for us to get Kenyan entertainment into the mainstream American market. Check out   WWW.KE411.COM  and view the Africa Day at the Mall of America photos under the galleries section-we plan to do similar events in the future. The new Kilimanjaro Entertainment website will not only feature Kenyan artists alongside internationally recognized artists but will also provide an avenue for them to sell their music worldwide. The new website will feature the following:

-Weekly, Kenyan,  African and reggae entertainment news
-Videos of the week
-Music reviews
-Concerts, tours  and event s updates
-Interviews with artists and other celebrities
-Marketplace (with ability to sample music before buying), DVD’s and gifts (coming Nov. 10th) and more
