Kenya: Police officer who was wrongfully dismissed 18 years ago wants his job back

By Shem Kosse

WHEN the New Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo was sworn in December last year to take over the reigns of police from the now retired Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere, he glaringly promised to revamp and accord the much discredited and loathed Kenya Police service:A new and emulative look which the country’s citizenry, can adore and revere.

The new IGP ,who competitively, scored highly in terms of marks during the interview proved it that he can really be fully in charge of the now both regular and Administration Police under one command.

To prove that he has really gotten down to task, heads have been sighted rolling and the issue of the much published police “impostor” Joshua Waiganjo has cropped up and now under thorough investigations to ascertain on how he really got into the security system, despite of the existence of the Kenya’s well oiled intelligence network, billed as one among the best, globally.

A lot still has to be done so as to help in unmasking some of the atrocities which were allegedly committed within the police service.

While the public still grappling with the issue of the fake police officer known as Waiganjo so as to ascertain the real truth about it on how he has operated within the service for close to five years unnoticed as fake one, a 46 years old man also claims that he was wrongfully dismissed from the police Service some 18 years ago after committing no crime.

Emmanuel Ochieng says the circumstance under which he and his colleague identified as Christopher Odero were shown the exit door still remain unclear to them when they were summarily dismissed from the then police force in April 1995 while another person identified as a Mr. Paul Oduor Imbaya then his fellow police constable is still working in the service and has since been promoted to an Inspector of Police despite being arrested and falsely imprisoned over their matter where they tried to investigate a case of suspected corruption at the Mombasa Port.

Ochieng who now resides in the sprawling Kibera Slums in Nairobi while doing only odd jobs at Building and Construction sites in Kitengela says what caused him and his Colleague their jobs is a case where they tried to investigate an alleged theft syndicate involving some senior police officers at the Mombasa Central Police station on April 5 1995.

The aggrieved x-police officer who gave his force number as 61797 claimed that it all started on April 6 1995 when he and his aforementioned colleague got information that a relief cargo worth thousands of shillings allegedly came out of the Mombasa Port and was later reportedly diverted into the local market by being stored at a secret ware house near shimanzi along Zanzibar Road in Mombasa.

“We were only acting on information we received and out of curiosity which we acted out of, I and my colleague known as Christopher Odero of Force number 60977 really received a baptism of fire from our fellow policemen when we tried to find out what was happening in a private warehouse belonging to a Somali businessman,” he said amid sobbing during a telephone interview with the Citizen Weekly.

He narrated on how they were immediately arrested and quickly driven out of the scene in a taxi to Mombasa Central Police Station where they were put into the police cells for two weeks while allegedly being tortured.

“After a few minutes while at the scene, we noticed a taxi coming to where we were and on approaching towards us, we realized that inside was a police inspector and a constable where we were arrested and turned into criminals being accused of demanding bribe to our astonishment ,” he added.

He says their mission at the said Private Ware house was only to demand from him a clearance documents from the port for the goods he was handling in his store, adding that the owner immediately started making phone calls via his cell phone only for a taxi carrying police officers to arrive at the scene.

According to him at the time of their arrests, another police constable a Mr. Paul Oduor Imbaya had also been arrested earlier after he too tried to carry out some investigation on the same matter being arrested at a secret store at the port being owned by a businessman of a Somali origin.

He said Oduor was arrested only to be released later under unclear circumstance after being assaulted and wrongfully confined in a police cell at the Mombasa Central Police Station.

Ochieng’ says after the incident Paul Oduor Imbaya who was then a police constable instituted a case against the then Mombasa Central Police Boss Godana Jarsa for alleged assault and wrongful confinement in 1995.

Godana Jarsa is now a retired Senior Superintendent of Police {SSP} after Serving in that Capacity in Nyanza and other regions.

He adds that the court in Mombasa later in 2004 granted him a chance to join in Oduor’s case where he sought to be reinstated to his job while claiming that he was wrongfully dismissed.

But he says what is so disturbing is the snail pace at which the case has taken nearly 18 years since the incident happened and almost ten years since the matter was taken to court.

He appeals to the Chief Justice Dr. Willy Mutunga to intervene and help him and his colleagues get justice even though it has been delayed for a long time.

Ochieng’ further send his passionate appeal to the New Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo to kindly take up this matter and order thorough investigations again so as the truth about it be known once and for all and to allow him be reinstated to his job as a police officer, adding that his colleague Imbaya is still working and has now been promoted to the rank of an Inspector of Police asking why not he was dismissed in the first place.

“Some of my colleagues whom we passed out with from Kiganjo Police Training College in 1991 like Francis Ndegwa Muhoro who also happened to be working at Kilindini Port Police at the time of the incident is now the current Director of CID and may become the Deputy Inspector General of Police if approved by Parliament but me someone somewhere insisted that I must be dismissed from my job after committing no crime at all,” he concludes.tearfully.

Kenya: Top Clergy told to stop meddling in Schools affairs.

By Shem Kosse

FOR more than two decades now, the Catholic fraternity in Kisumu Archdiocese has been led by a clergy whom many had regarded as a true reformer when he was enthroned as the Bishop and now Arch Bishop of the Arch diocese of Kisumu.

But somewhere along the way, those Principals and Head Teachers who have been managing the Secondary Schools which are sponsored by the Catholic Church under the said Archdiocese have not been a happy lot as they claim that there has been constant interference by Arch Bishop Zachaeus Okoth of the said Arch Diocese ranging from threats of transfers if not sacking when interdiction can not do.

Some of the head teachers and the Principals who are in these catholic sponsored but government institutions who seems to be not towing to the Arch Bishop’s line are either transferred under unclear circumstances or get demotion to some lesser schools within or outside the region.

A Principal in one of the schools within the region who spoke to the legion of journalists on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal claimed that he was transferred to another school simply because he was not a ‘catholic adherent’ and could not head a high school which the church sponsors at what ever cost.

He claims the Arch Bishop literally told him to his face that he would not allow him to head such a school unless “he is one of them”.

A similar scenario was also witnessed in the year 2005, when the then Kisumu Boys High School Principal John Awiti was abruptly transferred to ST. Mary’s Yala high School under the alleged influence of the archbishop Okoth simply because Awiti is a staunch Catholic and no one could head the institution unless a catholic fellow.

Efforts by the then students at Kisumu Boys High Schools who vehemently protested the move to transfer their beloved Principal fell on deaf ears as nothing changed despite their protests.

Previously, in the year 2004, Kisumu Boys under the watchdog of Principal Awiti managed to produce a top Student in Nyanza region when the KCSE Results were announced with the boy being number 12 nationally and this was seen as his major achievement hence making the students to protest at his abrupt transfer the year that followed, 2005.

And recently, the Arch Bishop alleged and constant interference in the running of the Government instituitions which are sponsored by his Catholic Church eminently came to the fore when he insisted that the now interdicted Principal of Bolo Girls Secondary School Rose Mbati Olela stayed put in school despite being transferred to another school within the same region.

Bolo Secondary school is a government institution which is situated in Arch Bishop’s village of Bolo in Nyakach District but sponsored by the Catholic Church.

The immediate former Principal Rose Mbati is said to be a sister in law of the Arch Bishop Okoth having been married to his Younger brother,r Ambrose Olela Awuor.

Before the Principal was interdicted, a team led by the Kisumu County Education Staffing Officer Gladys Toywa made two unsuccessful attempts on diverse dates of September 7 and 12 this year respectively to take over the school with an aim of handing it over to the new Principal Joyce Omondi who was moved from Bishop Okoth Girls Miranga where she was a Deputy Principal.

The Staffing officer, only managed after her third attempt on September 24 where the Deputy Principal Madam Rebecca Omany oversaw the handling over of the school on behalf of the then Principal who was claiming to be sick and could not do the official handing over having given the same reasons on both the first and the second visits, by the Staffing Officer.

But what followed after the handing over at the school was very perturbing as a new turn of events emerged where a section of the locals who are related to the Principal Rose Mbati got agitated and threatened the Deputy Principal for allegedly handing over the school without what they termed as proper procedures.

One such person who has been identified as John Onyango Awuor who is a brother in- law of the Rose Olela and a brother to Arch Bishop Okoth who allegedly issued threats to the Deputy Principal after the handing over ceremony.

There are now claims that the new Principal has been served with a letter from Arch Bishop Okoth instructing her not to set foot in the school and only wants her Sister in- law back at the school as the Principal.

Sources further unmasked that the out going Principal Rose Mbati was last week brought back to the school under unclear circumstances despite the handing over.

Kisumu County Director of Education in charge of Teachers Management has since interdicted the Principal for her alleged failure to honour the transfer.

Among other accusation revolves around the immediate former Principal Rose Mbati being investigated by the Ethics and Anti- Corruption Commission {EACC} on allegations of misappropriation of school funds.

In a letter dated June 4, 2012 which we have obtained a copy read in part: “The Ethic and Anti- Corruption Commission {EACC} is carrying out investigations into allegation of misappropriation/embezzlement of school funds,”

The letter continues “To facilitate our investigation we request that you provide us with the following original documents relating to the purchase of maize and beans by Our Lady of Lourdes- Bolo Girls Secondary School for the year 2012 and 2012″

Board of Governors Minutes authorizing the procurement, Advertisement to tenders, Letters of appointment for tender opening, evaluation and award committees are some of the documents the EACC requires from the interdicted principal.

The area County Director of Education in charge of Teachers Management Beatrice Agala confirmed that the Principal has duly been interdicted pending investigations on her alleged refusal to go on a transfer.

Meanwhile, Panic has gripped Bolo Girls Secondary School in Nyakach District of Kisumu County after the school’s Deputy Principal has raised an alarm fearing for her life.

The Deputy Principal Rebecca Omany of Our Lady of Lourdes Bolo Girls Secondary School said unknown suspected criminals got their way into the school on the night of September 24 and tried to attack her while asleep with her two children at their house within the school.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu after she managed to escape the ordeal last week, Madam Omany said what is puzzling is the manner in which the attackers behaved during the incident and how the police have tried to handle the matter.

She claimed that her predicament begun earlier in that material day when a new Principal came over to take up the management of the school with the help of the new Kisumu County Staffing Officer Gladys Toywa after the Principal Rose Mbati Olela had been transferred to another school.

Omany claimed that the new Principal came to take over the school within the help of the County Staffing officer after three attempts to do so failed, adding that her boss was adamant to hand over while claiming that she needed more time to prepare for the process.

“ I was just instructed by the Kisumu County Staffing Officer to oversee the process of handing over the school to the new Principal who came over for the third time of September 24, this year after my boss did not comply with them on the issue and I feel nothing wrong I did concerning the matter,” she said.

Reports indicated that , the outgoing Principal was present at the school at the time of the handing over ceremony but did not show up for the process while claiming that she was too sick to hand over the school to her successor.

Immediately after the process on the same day, a brother in-law of the now interdicted Principal reportedly issued some threats to the store keeper who is also the school’s messengers while asking him why the Deputy Principal agreed to hand over the school without the knowledge of its Board of Governors and the Archbishop of the Church which has sponsored the school.

Sources told the battery of scribes that the Brother in-law even threatened that he would see where the new Principal and her Deputy would spend a night while at the school.

Reports have it that after the handing over process the new Principal went back to Kisumu for some good preparations before settling fully but the deputy remained in the school.

According to Omany, It was at around 10:00 pm when the suspected thugs threw stones at her house followed by a big one which almost hit them had it been that they were all asleep.

“ I just escaped death by a whisker after the suspected thugs threw a huge stone which fell on my bed after the first two they also threw made me awake with my two children who I was with at the time of the frightening incident,’’ she added.

She immediately informed her new boss by calling her cell phone who in turn informed the nearby Parish Priest of the incident before sending a villager whom she also telephoned to report the incident to Sondu/Miriu Police station.

Omany stated that things were not all that easy as the police were too reluctant to help her on the matter while adding that an officer retorted that they could not handle such matter because of those who have vested interest in the school.

KENYA: RACE FOR THE NEW KISUMU CENTRAL SEAT HEATS UP

By Shem Kosse

The youthful Ugenya parliamentary aspirant, who accorded lands minister James Orengo alongside other contestants of Ugenya parliamentary seat in the ODM preliminaries in the run up to 2007 general elections, has thrown his hat into the ring, of the newly created Kisumu central constituency seat, by the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Steve Mwanga, who was mercilessly shortchanged in the ODM primaries in favour of Orengo, having trounced all his opponents, is fully set to cause ripples with his candidature once again.

His renowned and well oiled campaign strategy that shook not only entire Ugenya by then, but also amazed the luo populace at large, is likely to ignite sharp reaction across the political divide and more so to those who have voiced their interest, for the same seat.

Kisumu Central, has consequently, purely, remained a cosmopolitan constituency having been hived off the former larger constituency, Kisumu town west, which is currently under flagship of Olago Aluoch, largely seen as the man to beat courtesy of his stellar performance , as the incumbent Mp.

And the natives, hailing from greater Kisumu sub clans of korando, kogony, karateng, Kanyawegi among others who have been perennially championing clans’ kisumo town marwa! kisumo kendgi! Politics have been confined to their cocoon of the other newly created constituency, Kisumu west.

These are some of the factors, coupled with his financial muscle, Mwanga the accountant by profession and business magnate, appears to be cashing in on to bag the coveted seat: “This is electioneering period and there is no any seat which is a preserve for an individual!” he thundered.

Adding that most of the Kisumu residents were instrumental during his campaign trail that saw him emerging the victor, only for his nomination certificate to be handed over undeservingly to Orengo who despite being reputable democrat, received it religiously, to the chagrin of his admirers across the political spectrum.

The flamboyant Mwanga ,will have to burn midnight oil battling it out with other front runners who are Kisumu based business moguls, Abdul Omar and Philip Anayo. Not left out in the tight race to parliament is also the close confidant to former bulky area Mp Ken Nyagudi who is a topnotch legal expert, Mr. Ken Pundo, and a university don who is lecturing in one of the leading institution, Mrs Farida Ahmed Salim.

Nyagudi too is covertly massing campaign paraphernalia to give a stab once more to the National House: “For now am replenishing myself and whoever wants to rule me out to do so at his own peril…am not an amateur in politics and I’ll blow the whistle at the opportune time” he said, confidenlty.

Kenya’s endless extrajudicial killings, atrocities, decried by the Diaspora.

By Shem Kosse

A Kenyan escapee based in Canada, who is a renowned scholar cum human rights activist, has taken a swipe at the Kenyan government over the intermittent extrajudicial killings, atrocities, among other injustices, being visited on the innocent citizenry.

Speaking to this journalist, professor Cornel Omondi, who fled to Canada for fear of his life after providing earth-shaking information to the United Nations special Rappoteur Prof Philip Alston that saw them being, allegedly, the targets, of Kenyan police harassments and killings, said that he is amazed on the government’ laxity to curb the vice which continues to traumatize humanity.

Prof Alston’s move to investigate crimes against humanity in Kenya was prompted by the concern of the international community and a ten days investigation was carried out by the UN to ascertain the truth.

The university don, chronicled aftermath events of the Kenya’s 2007 botched elections that sparked the nationwide unrest and what took place on 21st February 2009 during the visit of Alston and his team to the lakeside city of kisumu which culminated to his escape.

Prior to his escape to Canada, Wasonga, who owns a MBA degree with emphasis in business from Lincoln University in the United States, was corporate training manager and training workshop (continuing education) facilitator with Learnex and Longsight Management Services, respectively, in Nairobi.

As a patriotic Kenyan, human rights activist, and someone against all forms of injustice and crimes against humanity, his problem with the government began way back after the Kenyan post-election upheavals of December 2007 -early 2008, which claimed many innocent lives.

The cause for these post-election skirmishes was over the disputed elections results in which ODM party alleged that elections were rigged in favour of their main rival party called PNU (Party of National Unity). PNU is the party headed by the president of Kenya, Hon. Mwai Kibaki. The declaration by the electoral commission of Kenya that PNU party had won the election, ignited violence.

“The violence found me at my home village, Kisian near Kisumu city; everyone had to vote where you had acquired your voting card and I remember on January 02, 2008 while demonstrations were still on but had declined a bit, especially around Kisumu, as I was driving my car towards the city at around 9:00 a.m. I met police patrolling at a small trading center, Bandani, near Kisumu airport on my way to the city of Kisumu. They flagged me down and ordered to get out of the car.” recalls the don.

The menacing police officers searched the car and released him to proceed on with the journey. And after covering approximately half a kilometre stretch, met another group of marauding policemen who pointed guns at him to stop.

“I obeyed and they told me to step out of the car, meanwhile talking and saying I was one of those sponsoring the violence ….. within seconds a police van came and I was bundled like a bag of beans into it. They took me to Kisumu police station, leaving my car behind.”, he says.

“I went through rigorous interview process with accusations that I am one of those sponsoring violence. I asked why do they accuse me, and they said that because the nature of my car suggests that I have lots of money and those with money are the ones sponsoring the riots and are also refusing to accept election results.I was detained for about five hours and later released. I then asked if I could be dropped back where I left my car, but I was told that there was no car, so I had to go by foot because there were still no public transports due to the fear of continuing violence.” he adds.

Continuing,: “Shockingly, when I returned to that place, I found that my car had been burnt to ashes, and onlookers told me that the police were responsible in setting my car in flames. A brand new Isuzu 4×4 double cabin that I had just acquired just vanished like that. I then returned to the police station in Kisumu, again by foot, to report the matter. It seemed like it was a crime to accuse police. They harassed me saying that, with numerous riots going on, how can I accuse the police for that act, but I told them that the nearby residents witnessed the act.”

The policemen never took a statement and told him that they will communicate to him when they are done with “investigations”. And he has since taken up the matter with the Commissioner of the police, a detrimental move that he largely attributes to his status of: narrow escape from Kenya, to Canada.

While the violence was still raging and claiming many innocent lives, a team led by Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary General, intervened. They came and held a series of meetings that ultimately culminated into amicable resolution between the two rival’s parties, ODM and PNU.

It resulted into the coalition government, which is a power sharing agreement. In this power sharing deal the two parties are expected to consult one another over key issues and or decisions. Unfortunately, this is not often the case.

Because the president hails from the PNU party, and the Prime Minister is from the ODM party, the President often makes certain decisions without consulting the Prime Minister. A group of faction from the ODM have always felt betrayed and therefore not pleased with the PNU behaviour in the coalition government.

And in the recent past, the incumbent president, unilaterally, appointed a team of Anti-Corruption Commission and judicial officials without consulting his key principal partner, the premier. This was immediately disputed by the legislature and other relevant authorities and consequently the appointments were revoked, by the president.

And due to humiliation caused to the president, he has secretly deployed the police namely, the “police death squads” to secretly hunt for those in the ODM party, alleged Wasonga who is also a staunchest supporter of ODM party.

On March 5, 2009 two prominent human right activists, namely Kamau Kingara and Paul Oulu, were brutally murdered around Nairobi. The duo was working for a famous organization called Oscar foundation. This organization provides free legal aid services to the financially crippled. The act was well planned and executed by the state agents, he further alleged.

This, he said, led to the commissioning of Prof. Philip Alston, the UN Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, arbitrary or summary executions, to visit Kenya to investigate the grave allegations. He came to Kenya and conducted investigations from February 16 to February 25, 2009.

He held several interviews, with Wasonga being one of the participants in one of the interviews, held at the Imperial Hotel, kisumu.Noteworthy, a one a Mr. Edy Ochan’g, who was among the interviewees at the meeting with Professor Alston has since fled to the USA in fear for his life and claimed refugee assistance in the USA. Ochang is currently working for Christian Democratic Movement of Kenya (CDMK), Humanitarian and Crisis Division’ International office, Canada.

Back to the fateful and brutal murder of the two civil society activits, namely Kamau and Paul, after the news of their death, demonstration by public and college students ensued. The demonstration was actually against the president because the nature of their deaths was quickly linked to the police death squad. Contradictory statements were made from some governments officials over the death of the pair. The official president’s spokesperson and the Prime Minister had different views over the death of the two.

“Unfortunately, being a lecturer (professor) and supporter of Oscar foundation a day after the demonstration I was approached by a car after I had just alighted at the bus stage from a public transport at Dagoreti Corner where I lived, walking towards my house, a white sedan car with three people in it appeared pointed a gun at me and ordered me to get into the car, i seated between two guys as one drove the car”

“I was driven towards a nearby small town called Karen, with a gun pointed in my stomach to stay silent. We passed Karen and headed towards another town called Ngong Hills. I knew that this was the end of me because this is a well known area for executions. I was ransacked and serverely tortured saying that they were aware that I was one of the ODM supporters who is constantly criticising the government, especially the president” he says of the Kenyan police unprofessional way of extracting information, physically.

Many prominent people and politicians have been murdered at this place. The late fiery politician Hon. J. M. Kariuki, being one of the victims.

As a concerned citizen and human rights activist, Wasonga, alongside other civil society bodies, have been exerting pressure, especially through the foreign embassies, on the government to prosecute the perpetrators of the post-election chaos in the ICC and resettle those who were internally displaced during the post polls violence.

The academician whose family too has been forced to flee to Swaziland for their safety due to alleged continual harassments by the state-driven security operatives, appears undeterred on his pursuit to exert pressure on the Kenyan government: “the Kenya government must walk the talks on reforms to the letter as envisaged in the Koffi Annan’ Agendas for the reforms or else brace fully for the wind of change which is akin to the one currently sweeping across Islamic Arabic world” he hinted, sounding perturbed by continued extrajudicial killings and atrocities reportedly hitting the cross section of the media and internet, globally.

Kenya: Defrauded Kisumu Asian tycoon blames lands ministry.

By Shem Kosse

Kisumu-based business magnate of Asian descent has accused the ministry of lands for failure to curb rampant fraudulent land deals in the lakeside city of Kisumu. Not even the recent move by the Kenya Anti Corruption Commission (KACC) to widen its wings to Kisumu seems to help matters, he adds.

Flanked by fellow businessmen who have previously fallen prey to this conning cartel,Mr A.B Singh claimed that he was recently defrauded of his land parcel number 329 measuring approximately 0.1287 hectares, situated in Kisumu’ Tom mboya estate.

Allocated to him in 1979 1st September by the government as the lessor for the lease period of 99 years and awarded certificate over the same, Singh said that the property had again been reallocated illegally to a new lessee a Mr. Henry Masilwa Asava by fraudsters going by the name Kostiony Kipruto Tinderet and Kiprotich Korir.

He says he was informed by neighbours while at work that there are strange faces in his compound with tools of work, inspecting it.

“I rushed to the scene and found him (Asava) carrying new plan for construction. Alongside him were workers” said the stunned Singh while flapping the receipts indicating he has never defaulted to pay rates.

The duo fraudsters whose identities are still scanty to date “acquired” the property in 1st January 1997 and later disposed it off to the unsuspected buyer, Asava. Consequently, the title deed was issued on 9th April 2010; this is according to the documents availed to this writer.

And what is baffling is that the swindling cartel did not pay the fees due to the government, council or any other relevant authorities but ended up bagging the title deed purportedly signed by the land registrar a Mr. Nyaberi and with the district land officer a Mr. Obiero, issuing the consent. Aggrieved Singh has now moved and slapped a caution, on the land.

Kisumu city and its environ is currently awash with the phantom sale of lands with some lawyers who are either privy to or just feigning ignorance over this culture of impunity-since they are part and chief beneficiary of the syndicate. They preside over the transaction, by drafting the “sale agreements” of such “properties” which are neither here nor there.

And by the time of going to the press, other cases akin to this were reportedly being booked at the Kisumu’ central police station by widowed women and orphaned children, impeccably orchestrated by this merciless cartel.

Kenya: Kisumu woman reigns terror, smashes car over illicit affair

By Shem Kosse

Residents of the lakeside city of Kisumu were treated to a free broad day light drama cum shock when a jilted woman, rained a hail of stones to her husband’s new model sleek Subaru legacy packed outside Kisumu hotel, over an alleged ex-marital love affair.

The woman who was breathing and spitting fire and appeared to be acting on a tip off after mounting a well oiled intelligence network, caused a traffic snarl up along the busy jomo Kenyatta highway daring any one to close in on her claiming that she is the one who bought the vehicle and the husband is ‘’misusing’’ it.

It all started when her hawk eyed informants phoned her that her elderly “libidinous” husband who is a renowned insurance expert in town was spotted chauffeuring a lady saloonist that all along has been rumoured to her was the main cause of her latest budgetary and conjugal deficit, in the house.

Still unsatisfied with the state of the vehicle that she had heavily pelted with stones and coupled with the fact that she could not access where the two new found love birds were having there “good time”, the heavily bodied woman reached her hand bag and fished out two well sharpened Somali swords and literally knifed the tires, deflating them instantly.

The two new swords seemed to have been purchased purposely for implementing the terror mission.

Not even a contingent of a full combat gear of a local private security firm tasked with the provision of security of the hotel could deter her insurgency to the lawfully and properly packed “innocent” silvery Subaru of KAN series:

“this is the cell phone number of that prostitute! Call him now and tell him am damaging my car!” ranted and raved the woman to one of the security guards as onlookers were watching helplessly the unfolding ugly scenario, of the love triangle.

“He is an embarrassment to the family! And yet have sired big children with him” she thundered further over the duo’ blossomed love affair, while wreathing her way out of the stunned crowd.

Panting and sweating heavily, she bordered the motorcycle and sped off in an alarming speed leaving the vehicle at the mercy of the sweltering heat with the “wazee” club lying inside it defenselessly-a weapon a husband would have used to clobber his “errant” wife and defend himself and his brandy sweetheart, successfully.

And in a bid to stamp her authority and greatness, the woman toughie whose attire was covered with blood as a result of the cuts she sustained from the spillover glasses of the vehicle’ windscreens, turned at the scene walking with her head high and chest forward to witness the vehicle being towed.

And aftermath, she inspected the scene of the “accident” to ensure no any “valuable” car parts remained.

“We don’t want a repeat of post election skirmishes that saw the youths who were divided on tribal line being used to cause chaos……this the right time to avert it” he focused.

Olwero signed off by urging the kalenjin and kikuyu youths in the expansive rift valley province to advocate for peace and unity in the re-born Kenya and not to be divided by the perceived political alliance pitying Prime Minister Raila Odinga and his deputy, Uhuru Kenyatta.

KENYA: RAILA’S ALLY TO LAUNCH “YES” CAMPAIGN IN KISUMU

By Shem Kosse

Youthful Kisumu based business magnate and prime minister’ long term political ally is to launch a massive and vigorous campaign in the lakeside city of Kisumu and it’s environ to drum up support for the proposed draft constitution, soon.

Abdul Omar, who was instrumental for the ODM campaigns in the run up to 2007 elections, said that Kenyans have waited for two decades for the new constitutional dispensation and its realization is long overdue.

And that those who are opposed to it are harbouring self interest at the expense of the national good. Speaking during the fund raiser in aid of the youths in Kisumu, the pragmatic Abdul added that the draft constitution is over 90 percent good and that the contentious parts can be amended aftermath:

“Let us adopt the constitution as it is ….. the constitution is not static but dynamic world over and therefore subject to amendments” said Abdul on the divisive clauses of the draft.

To ensure that the draft sails through in the referendum, he told the youth – being the majority of the voters – to cash in on the ongoing registration of voters exercise to register in large numbers and cast their vote for the “YES” side in the offing plebiscite.

Abdul, who is associated with numerous youth development projects in Kisumu town and has voiced his interest to vie for Kisumu town west parliamentary seat in the come general elections, moved the crowd to stitches when he cautioned the youth to desist from the culture of handouts popularly known as GONYWA,as a yardstick for measuring good people.

“You always want to reap what didn’t sow and you are ever ready to receive it religiously as if it is your basic right” he said to the laughter of the jubilant crowd.

A total of 600,000 shillings was realized with Abdul, in addition to his financial contribution, donated several bags of cements, iron sheets among other building materials.

The fund raiser was attended by PM son Fidel Odinga and the former chairman of the outlawed sect, Maina Njenga.

Cheered throughout his speech, charismatic Abdul revealed, in the sidelines of the meeting that he has lined up several projects for the youth and is rolling out one before the end of the year.

Asked what he will do for the constituency if elected as an MP, he said that with the existence of CDF funds, he will make proper use of it by employing professionals and also consultants to advice further.

For this will make it a downhill task, to engage directly with the people on the ground to know what their needs are-directly and indirectly.

Prime Minister’s Daughter in Property Dispute with a Kisumu Asian Tycoon

By Shem Kosse

One of the daughters of Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Rosemary Adhiambo
Odinga, is embroiled in a serious property tussle with a wealthy Kisumu asian tycoon, Karim Surani.

At the centre of the controversy is a hotel, operating under the flagship, New Rozy Lodge, which is home to over 20 rooms, and said to be worth millions of shillings.

Early this week, marauding youths alleged to have been hired, and working
under instructions from the PM’s daughter, stormed the hotel, situated in the heart of the lake side city, and clobbered guests with crude weapons, ejecting some of the unsuspecting guests from bed, culminating in scores of injuries.

Sources who talked to this writer confided how the goons, numbering about 50,
unleashed their anger on the hotel caretaker, Mr. David Onjiri, who was punched and whipped severally ,when he questioned the legitimacy of the barbaric operation.

According to documents within our possession, the property belongs to the late
Alice Akoth Okongo and her husband Hezbon Onyuro, but they rented it out to Nazir Surani, who in the long run developed an interest to buy it, but the duo seemed to have contravened the initial agreements, thus impacting negatively on the purchase.

In one of the letters written by Nazir Surani’s advocate, Mitchell JB Menezes, ref 156/4456/m, dated 9/9/09, read, “our client paid monies towards purchase of the above cited property. The vender ,Alice Okonyo who is the registered owner, did not perform her part of the agreement. As such our client lodged a caution against the property, claiming purchaser’s interests”.

It’s imperative and instructive to note that Nazir handed the business to his brother Karim, who in the course of running the business, realized some interference, which made him to do a property search and realized that a new owner had emerged by the name of Miss Rosemary Adhiambo Odinga, title No.7/148.

Sensing danger, Karim moved to court and got two orders, dated 2nd/12/2009,
barring Rosemary Odinga from interfering, and another barring Alice Okongo and Hesbon Onyuro for the same, in a tribunal case No. 73/2009 and 58/2008, in Kisumu High court.

All the court process have been ignored by Rosemary Adhiambo Odinga and
her agents, and fencing is being done to pave way for demolition and a new construction.
