Orengo vows he will not relent on anti-graft war

Sunday Standard Reporter

Lands minister James Orengo went public on the controversial sale of Grand Regency because of fear the Cabinet could not be counted on to deal with corruption.

Interviewed yesterday, Orengo said the leak came from junior officers who were concerned about the flurry of activity at the Lands office on the day the transfer of the hotel was finally made.

Even now, he revealed, there were “vibes’ that “some people in government” were complaining about him being difficult while the sale was a ‘government project’. He argued the sale of the hotel was, “conceived outside the Cabinet”, and needed to be dealt with as such. “When I got the information on June 26, I immediately went public because there had been denials that there was a sale. The Finance minister denied there was even an intended sale; then I hear that the sale has taken place and property transferred.”

Orengo said he immediately ordered the Commissioner of Lands to give him an explanation by July 1 on why the minister was kept in the dark as the land was being transferred.

On June 30, the minister ordered that there be a caveat on the land, reasoning that that the law gives the Registrar powers to recall titles in cases of fraud.

Even as the President remained silent on the matter, and with a Cabinet meeting cancelled last week, Orengo said the transfer of the hotel was “void from the start and a nullity.”

“Waiting for Cabinet to meet would look like we wanted to manage the information for the benefit of a clique. Statements had been made that were deliberately misleading. “Responsibility, including collective responsibility, are not meant to undermine the rule of law,” the minister said.

The Ugenya MP, despite being a Cabinet minister, said the fact that a select group tried to sell public property secretly meant the war against corruption was not over and he would not relent.

“This is a typical me. I would not want to compromise ideas I hold dear and always fought for. At any time we encounter these shady deals, we will counter them, and deal with them without compromise,” the minister vowed.

Dear My fellow Country People.

What we see happening in Kenya is pathetic. Hon. Kimunyas case is a total shame to Kenya. It make we Kenya Voters to look like real primitive.

This is a third case I am seeing happening in Kenya in less than Two Year and all coming from the same tribe and it is assumed to be right.

First was during Refaradum when Orange won and Banana lead by Kikuyu refused to accept defeate.

Second was National election where ODM won and Kikuyu led PNU refused to cede.

Third Kimunya a Kikuyu minister found guilty of misuse of Public Office was by Vote of no Confidence asked by Parliament to step down and resign to pave way for investigation, stubornly and adamantly refused, boasting that he will not resign or step down.

I am not being Tribalistic but it is clear here that Kikuyu leaders are setting a presidence which supports corruption by instiling fear in Kenyans.

This should not be accepted as Hon. Orengo puts. We have 43 Tribes in Kenya and we should not be cowed by one tribe’s malice. Kimunya should be arrested and be imprisoned together with all his cronies.

SUGAR IMPORT BAN WELCOMED BY FARMERS; FUEL COST PUSHES TAZARA RAILWAY;

BAN ON SUGAR IMPORT MOST WELCOMED BY SUGARCANE FARMERS BUT GRAFT STLL HURT THE INDUSTRY.

By Leo Odera Omolo

THE stern measure taken by the government in conceling the licenses of sugar importers and exporters has been hailed as a bold and appropriate step in the right direction aimed at resuscitating the hailing sugar industry.

Farmers in the Nyanza Sugar Belt have also appealed to the Minister for Agriculture William Ruto to instruct the Kenya Sugar Board to establish one Central Procurement Board that will handle all the procurement matters for the  public owned Sugar companies

Public owned Sugar companies are Nzoia, Muhoroni, Miwani, Chemelil and SONY sugar Company Limited based at Awendo in Rongo district.

This measure, according to the stakeholders, will minimize corruption and massivelooting of the resources in the various factories. It will also bring to an end the various scams involving procurement related businesses.

Sugarcane farmers wanted the business of procurement of machineries and spares fracture every other heavy earth moving machinery to be placed under one board appointed by the KSB.

Millions of shillings are known to have been lost by factories by rogue CEO’s working in cohort within scrupulous suppliers. These people, according to a source in the industry have been minting millions of shillings especially during the annual maintenance of the cane crushing mills. In some cases, the already purchase spares are known to being recycled after being hidden, repainted and re-sold to the same factories it was stolen as a new one.

Expansions of the cane crushing machines is another area which is full of deceitful business transactions in the sugar industry. It is used as conduit for siphoning money from the sugar factories by unpatriotic CEOs and their accomplices.

The Ministry has also been challenged  to launch a thorough investigation to claims and allegations that a top manager working in cohort with some unscrupulous traders in Kisii town were recently allegedly suspected to have been involved in the scam of printing gunny bags and packaging packets of SONY sugar Company, This cartel is said to have used the SONY packaging materials and the illegally printed packets and bug for the purpose of re=packaging counterfeit sugar, These people are alleged to have been using such materials in packaging White Sugar obtained from foreign sources[r the consignments on transist to other African countries.
A source within the Awendo based factory indicated that the alleged scam had already been reported to the government and the Kenya Revenue Authority for investigations..

The dreadful rumors goes that a popular store in Kisii town is alleged to have been involved in the scam which also involved the illegal printing of the same packaging materials, which suspected to have been filled with imported sugar on transit destined to other African countries.

The scam involved taking of documents and the printing of packaging materials without the knowledge nor the authority of the company. And now the farmers want the top officials who us alleged to have been involved in the scam  removed from the services of the management of the Company.

KSB is also advised to device the new way of ensuring the department of weight and measures in the Ministry of Trade and Commerce makes regular inspection of weight bridges attached to the sugar factories. where farmers are allegedly being fleeced of millions of shillings through rackets in which the factories are using defective weighbridges.

Rumors persist that some factories are fleecing  farmers by way of cheating through faulty weigh and measures. The load of 8 tones or raw cane at times end up recording only 4 tonnes or that his cane weighed only 6 tones. In this way farmers are known to be losing millions of shillings to the corrupt factory bosses, who are minting millions of shillings by using defective weight bridges. Such scam was reportedly discovered in SONY sugar Company some years ago. But the situation was only rectified after the cane out growers had already lost close to 200 millions to unpatriotic traders who had hatched the scam.

In this kind of scam, some collaborating farmers had their harvested cane given extra tones of cane which was stolen from unsuspecting farmers and the clerks at the weight bridges shared the loot with the locals and few accomplices.wheeler-dealers . Some unsuspecting people earned more money than the amount they were expecting to be paid by the company, but they later got rude shock when they were confronted by thieving clerks demanding for their share of the loot.

HIGH FUEL COST PUSHES TAZARA RAILWAY CHARGES UP BY 30 PER CENT.

By Leo Odera Omolo.

REPORTS emerging from Dar es Salaam say the Tanzania-Zambia Railway Authority (Tazara) has announced to its customers the  decision to adjust upwards the current tariffs.

The upward increase in passenger and parcels rates was to be implemented from July 1st 2008 with travelers being asked to re-confirm their booking for exact fares to avoid any disappointment.

Fares on both the Tanzara Express and Ordinary passenger trains have gone up by 30 % while parcels and luggage rates on the same trains have gone up by 30%.

Passengers traveling from Dar es Salaam to Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia using Tazara Express on first class will now pay Tshs. 72,600 (USD 72) while previously the fare was Tshs. 60,500 (USD 60).

Travelers to Makambuko ( Iringa) from Dar es Salaam used to pay Tshs. 24,200 (USD 24) but they will now pay Tshs. 29,000(USD 29).

The Tazara railway (previously christened UHURU railway line. It was constructed with Chinese funding during the UDI government of rebellious white settlers in the then Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe.) At the time of UDI government headed by the white Prime minister, the late Ian Smith, it was meant to assist the landlocked Zambia to export its copper and other farm products.

It crosses through Makambuko, Mbeya and Tunduma on the border of Tanzania and Zambia to the final station at Kapiri Mposhi in Zambia.

The railway provides services mainly on one line that runs from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania to Kambrili in Zambia.

Managing Director of Tazara Mr. Clement Subulwa Mwinga was recently quoted as saying that the upward fare adjustment was normal and in line with the company policy through which they have an annual review of the corporation’s tariffs.

He said the rates were still competitive despite the high operational costs that the Company has been experiencing. The increase, he added, was meant to sustain services provided above cost especially the wage bill, which he said was as a big domestic cost that they had to factor in.

According to the MD, the current high global fuel prices had partly led to the increase in fares considering that Tazara trains use Diesel which is currently selling at USD 143m per barrel.

In addition, Mr. Mwiya said, the weakening of the American Dollar has impacted negatively on Tazara’s operations. The corporation is currently rehabilitating 18 main locomotives, doing track maintenance and improving equipment with support from its annual budget in order to offer quality and efficient service.

“we operate with both the dollar and shilling and the exchange rate has fallen since last year from Tshs. 1,270 (USD 1.27) to Tshs. 1,150 (USD 1.15). Since the wages bill is in local currency, we need more dollars to keep up with current expenditure,” said the MD.

He further revealed that Tazara was also upgrading its facilities at a cost of USD 10 million to improve customer service.

Big announcement

Obama for America

Dear Readers,

I wanted you to be the first to hear the news.

At the Democratic National Convention next month, we’re going to kick off the general election with an event that opens up the political process the same way we’ve opened it up throughout this campaign.

Barack has made it clear that this is your convention, not his.

On Thursday, August 28th, he’s scheduled to formally accept the Democratic nomination in a speech at the convention hall in front of the assembled delegates.

Instead, Barack will leave the convention hall and join more than 75,000 people for a huge, free, open-air event where he will deliver his acceptance speech to the American people.

It’s going to be an amazing event, and Barack would like you to join him. Free tickets will become available as the date approaches, but we’ve reserved a special place for a few of the people who brought us this far and who continue to drive this campaign.

If you make a donation of $5 or more between now and midnight on July 31st, you could be one of 10 supporters chosen to fly to Denver and spend two days and nights at the convention, meet Barack backstage, and watch his acceptance speech in person.  Each of the ten supporters who are selected will be able to bring one guest to join them.

Make a donation now and you could have a front row seat to history:

https://donate.barackobama.com/openconvention

We’ll follow up with more details on this and other convention activities as we get closer, but please take a moment and pass this note to someone you know who might like to be there.

It will be an event you’ll never forget.

Thank you,

David

Re: No Amnesty for killers – Kibaki

Dear Odhiambo and all,

The height of arrogance has once again been exercised here with Kimunya’s refusal to go home and instead vowing to die instead of vacating the Ministy of Finance. We as Name and Shame Corruption Networks (NASCON) Campaign held a press conference last week and gave the President 7 days to sack Kimunya’s. That is elapsing today and therefore action kicks off tommorow at the Treasury at 9.00am. You have been requested to dress in sports and if you belong to any organisation, put on the organisations Tshirt or Polo Tshirt to signify that we do not belong to a tribe but we are Kenyans (show of diversity). I have attached a statement that we released to the Press. Lets come in large numbers and exert the pressure for action to be taken againast him and any other person implicated in this scandal.

        Nyabuto,

I do agree with you; no sound-minded leader can condone violent crimes whether in Kenya, Rwanda or elsewhere. Evil is evil and especially so when it is violently displayed as we saw in January. If they don’t get some form of discipline or get punished then they would start preparing for a repeat of same come 2012 elections which are not far away and unless their choice wins. It is something we have never seen in Kenyan history.

But, why must we engage in selective justice where we leave the real culprits, and we go after the petty culprits? What happens to the real thieves who put Kenya in that mess? Do we pretend that we do not know them?

If we must go that way, then, we must stop this nonsense of Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation.

We will then invite a free for all.

        We shall have achieved nothing.

On this one, I am with the president.

I would add a small variation: let investigations determine who is and who is not culpable. And perhaps (and a BIG perhaps) then one can consider amnesty.

If we ever hope to build a nation in which laws are respected, we shouldn’t circumvent the legal process. Doing so (and blanket amnesty would do that) would be sending the wrong message: that you can do what you want (including murdering your neighbours, touching their houses, etc.) and get away with it.

As well the government should charge the marauding policemen that shot and killed innocent people. That was justice would be seen to be done. Targeting one group while leaving out the other wouldn’t be in the interest of justice.

                  Kibaki seals amnesty debate

                  Published on June 2, 2008, 12:00 am

                  By Alex Ndegwa

President Kibaki appeared to seal the fate of hundreds of post-election violence suspects with the declaration that they will face the law.

While the edict could end debate on an issue that could as well divide his Cabinet down the middle, with anti-amnesty ministers ranged against a pro-amnesty group comprising mostly Rift Valley ODM MPs and Prime Minister Raila Odinga, it is still bound to have far reaching political ramifications in future.

President Kibaki arrives at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, on Sunday, for Madaraka Day celebrations.

Kibaki ordered that those who committed criminal acts during the political crisis earlier this year be punished. He also directed the police to conclude investigation on cases, saying those who engaged in criminal activities will face the full force of the law. The President announced his stand on the issue for the first time only minutes after Raila had said the Government would find a solution to the problem.

Saying society should not spare those who unleashed mayhem, Kibaki observed: “As a society, we should reject those who incite others to violence. We should not spare them or those who recruit the gangs that cause mayhem.

“Once investigations are complete, those found to be innocent will be released without undue delay. But those who committed murder of innocent citizens, engaged in reckless destruction of property or rape should not expect any mercy.”

He revisited the issue in his off-the-cuff address in Kiswahili.

“Mtu hawezi kuleta fujo na kuchokoza jirani yake halafu aachiliwe hivyo hivyo. Hiyo hatuwezi. Hakuna mtu mwenye akili timamu atapenda hivyo (Nobody should be allowed to harm his or her neighbour and expect to go Scot-free. Nobody can reason that way)” said the President.12,000 in custody

The Head of State was speaking on Sunday at Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi, where he led the nation in marking the 45th Madaraka Day celebrations.

Those present were First Lady Lucy Kibaki Vice President Mr Kalonzo Musyoka, Prime Minister Mr Raila Odinga, Deputy Prime Minister Mr Musalia Mudavadi, Speaker of the National Assembly Mr Kenneth Marende, Chief Justice Mr Evans Gicheru and other Cabinet ministers.
The President issued the directive a day after Police Commissioner Maj-Gen Hussein Ali said 12,000 cases were reported during the post-election chaos, of which 103 were capital offences involving 137 suspects now in remand.

Another 550 suspects were being sought over 260 other capital offences.
The police boss ruled out release of the suspects saying: “We do not know of any ‘youth’. We are talking of criminals.”

Premier Pipe Band entertain guests at the Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, during Madaraka Day celebration.

Sharp differences have emerged in the Cabinet over the call for blanket amnesty for youths arrested following the violence that rocked the country in January after the December 30 announcement of disputed results of the presidential election. More than 1,000 people were killed and an additional 350,000 others uprooted from their homes during the two-month mayhem.

On February 28, President Kibaki and Raila signed a power-sharing deal that saw the ODM leader named premier, bringing the violence to an end and hauling the country out of its worst political crisis since Independence.

The controversial call for blanket amnesty for youths arrested during the violence seems to be the biggest issue that could split the Cabinet and threaten the fledgling Grand Coalition Government.
While ODM ministers have demanded the unconditional release of their supporters, their PNU colleagues insist perpetrators of violence should answer for their crimes.Youths or criminals
Raila told a lawyers’ forum on Thursday that the youths should be released unconditionally “because they committed no crime.”
“Is it a crime to fight for your democratic rights? Is it a crime to stand and say that last year’s elections were rigged?” posed the Prime Minister.

On the same day, Internal Security minister, Prof George Saitoti, said those linked to the violence should be prosecuted to promote peace and to discourage impunity. He ordered police to speed up investigations and prosecutions of the remaining cases, and particularly those linked to capital and other serious offences.

Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister, Ms Martha Karua, has maintained that the law must be allowed to take its course.
The number of youths in custody has been difficult to ascertain, with police saying only 137 were in remand, while some leaders, including Agriculture minister Mr William Ruto saying the figure runs into thousands.

Vice-President Mr Kalonzo Musyoka underscored the importance of national unity.

“This is the time for reconciliation. We should ensure that never again in the history of the country will one Kenyan rise up against another,” the VP said.

Yesterday, the President moved to quell the divisive debate on amnesty and assured that those absolved of any offences would be let free.
“The Grand Coalition Government is in place and working well,” Kibaki said.

Findings of the Commission of inquiry into post-election violence and the Kriegler Commission on the Review of the Electoral process would be implemented to decisively deal with the problem of ethnicity and impunity.

Kibaki toasted to the success of Operation Rudi Nyumbani saying since the Internal Displaced Persons’ resettlement exercise was launched three weeks ago, more than 178,000 people had returned to their homes.

“There are however over 40,000 Kenyans still living in camps in Nakuru and Eldoret. The resettlement programme is therefore continuing until all those who were forced to flee their homes and farms return to continue with their normal lives,” said the President.

He added: “I am aware that resettlement of the displaced persons is only the first step. As leaders and as communities, we have an obligation to promote peaceful co-existence among Kenyans.”

In his 25-minute address, Kibaki dwelt on another teething problem — the spiraling costs of fuel and food prices —saying he was aware wananchi felt the burden of high prices of basic commodities and services.

He sketched out a raft of measures lined up by his Government to cushion ordinary Kenyans from the rising cost of living occasioned by the spiraling price of oil in the international market.

To reduce the adverse impact of the high international oil prices on the national economy, the Government would expand the market share of the National Oil Corporation to boost its effectiveness in stabilising fuel prices in the local market.

In addition, it would ensure the Kenya shilling remains stable. Kibaki acknowledged the post-election violence coupled with failed rains in parts of the country had worsened the problem locally.
To deal with the looming food crisis, Kibaki said, the Government would import three million bags of maize in the next two months to supplement local supplies.

As a short-term measure, the Government would also increase funding for the expansion of the Strategic Grain Reserve from four to eight million bags in the next two years.

Cheaper farm inputs, such as low-cost fertiliser supplied by the National Cereals and Produce Board, would help lower the cost of production.

The President also said the first business for the Grand Coalition Government would be to put in place a five-year development plan gleaned out of the PNU, ODM and ODM-Kenya party manifestos.
The Government, he said, was ready for next week’s launch of the five-year plan and Vision 2030 that would serve as a springboard to a 10 per cent economic growth by the year 2012.

The President reaffirmed his commitment to tackling unemployment and ensuring access to education to empower Kenyans.

“We want to build a caring nation which reaches out to those who are weak and disadvantaged, ” he said.

On the thorny issue of land reforms, Kibaki said there should be no ambiguity on the security of land rights for landowners and that the sanctity of title deeds, leaseholds and letters of allotment would be respected.

“In this regard those who have leaseholds or letters of allotment that have expired should proceed to renew them in the normal way. There should be no reason for panic,” said the President.

Raila echoed the President’s sentiments to forge a united Kenya where all Kenyans would have a fair share of the national cake.
“Our country’s population has grown and there are so many mouths to feed. We need to expand the ugali,” Raila said amid wild cheers.

KENYA: DEPRESSED TEA INDUSTRY IS MAKING MARGINAL RECOVERY AFTER PLITICAL UPHEAVALS

By Leo Odera Omolo.

AFTER suffering its deepest drop in production ever, Kenya¢s tea industry has recovered marginally to the onset of the long rains.

The industry was hit the hardest following post election violence that sent hundreds of thousands of its manual workers away from their places of work.

In areas of North and South Rift Valley Province where most of the large scale tea plantations are located some of the factories are still running at halt their daily production capacity due to acute shortage of labour.

On the national trading, the Tea Board of Kenya has reported that the April harvest was only 27.4 million kg compared with the 16.9 million kg registered in March and 24 million kg recorded in February.

Despite the improvement, output for the month under review was still 10% lower compared with the 30.6 million kg registered during the same month last year, due to depressed and poorly distributed rainfall in most parts of the country, the TPK says in a new report just released.

As a result of depressed rainfall in April and prolonged dry weather conditions experienced during the January- March season, cumulative production for the period dropped by 30 per cent from 139.3 million kg registered during the same period last year to only 98.1 million kg, the lowest recorded in the history of the tea industry sub-sector of the economy in Kenya.

During the month, some 25.5 million kg was offered for sale at the Mombasa Auctions at a 45 per cent increase compared with 17.6 million kg offered in March and 9 percent higher than the 23.3 million kg offered in April 2007.

Also reportedly improved was the average unit price for tea, which stood at price for tea, which stood at USD. 2.23 recorded in March this year and USD 1.65 recorded last year.

As a result of increased auction supplies, the volume of tea exported in April increased by 48 % to 33.2 million kg from 23.8 million kg recorded in march and 18 % compared with 29.8 million kg recorded in April last year. Buyers were reported to be purchasing more as reports emerged that Kenya was producing less tea.

During the period under review, Kenya-made tea was exported to 35 market destinations world-wide compared with 31 destinations during the same period last year.

Egypt was the leading export destination, having imported 13.6 million kg, which accounted for the 39 percent of the total export volume. Other key markets include the UK, which imported 4.5 million kg, Sudan 3.3 million kg, Pakistan 3.5 million kg and Afghanistan (2 million kg).

The markets accounted for 77 per cent of total export volume and the rest accounted for 23 per cent.

Among the five traditional markets for Kenyan tea, Egypt registered the highest growth of 65 % compared with the same period last year. Sudan and UK registered a growth of 63 percent and 43 per cent respectively.

Among the non-traditional markets, Nigeria recorded the highest growth of 615 per cent. Other non-traditional markets that recorded significant growth were the Netherlands (324 %); Poland (214 %); Turkey (212 %) and Oman (179 %).

Major markets that registered decline in tea export volumes compared with the same, period last year were Puerto Rico (85 %); Saudi Arabia (68 %); Afghanistan (46 % ); US ( 48 % ); Ireland ( 46 % ); Pakistan ( 41 % ); and Russia ( 32 $% ).

The drop I export to these destinations was occasioned by reduced demand, particularly within the lower-end market segment, due to increased prices. However, this drop is seasonal and demand is expected to rise soon following increased supplies occasioned by the recovery of the industry from the effects of drought, said TBK managing director Cicily Kariuki.

Local consumption rose to 1.5 million kg an increase of 34 % compared with 1.1 million kg recorded in March and 6 % compared 1.4 million kg recorded in April 2007. Local consumption for the period of January- April 2008 stood at 5 million kg, 4 % lower compared to 5.1 million kg recorded during the same period in 2007.

The drop in local tea consumption was attributed to shift in preference towards cold beverages during the first three months of the year owing hot weather conditions. To address the issue of depressed local tea consumption in the long-term, the industry is now repositioning tea as both an indoor and outdoor drink which can be taken any time, hot or cold besides having refreshing, natural and healthy attributes a more being led by Kenya tea packers with their recent introduction of bottle Ready-to-Drink tea in the local market.

End.

MINISTER REFUTES CLAIMS

CABINET MINISTER REFUTES CLAIMS
Public Service Minister Dalmas Otieno Anyango has strongly denied claims in a section of the press which linked one of his sons to a multi-million scandal with some powerful clique from mount Kenya region.

In a statement to the press, the bitter cabinet minister challenged those with evidence to come out in the open. He was reacting to a statement in one of the newspapers depicting his son to be operating in a company under the flagship – Green Fuels Ltd which is allegedly associated with the beleagured Finance Minister Amos Kimunya and the late Alex Mureithi.

“I dare anyone with tangible proof to come forward that my son is the Managing Director of the said company which was allegedly given sixty thousand hectares of TARDA land, to plant jathropa (Bio-fuel) he thundered.”

The late Alex Mureithi was the chairman of TARDA and at the same time Director of Green Fuels Ltd which according to the story was a clear conflict of interest.

MIWANI FARM SALE SAGA CONTINUED AS LOCAL PEOPLE VOWED TO STOP IT

KANO PEOPLE VOWED TO STOP THE SALE OF MIWANI FARM IN PIECE-MEAL AT ALL COST.

By Leo Odera Omolo .

The alleged fraudulent sale of Miwani Sugar Mill’s property to a cartel of wealthy Asians businessmen and farmers at a throw away price at the alleged stage-managed public auction last year took a new dimension when the people Kano sub-clan vowed to derail the sale at all costs.

The Jo-Kano people consist of a major Luo sub-clans, which lays claims that the land on which Miwani Sugar Company is standing on was their ancestral land and now vowed to derail the attempt at selling it to a new group of India businessmen and farmers in the area.

.The community alleged that the land was seized by force from their forefathers by the British colonialists in around 1920 and given to the white Australian pioneer sugar farmer who first established Miwani Sugar Mills in 1927 for free.

The government of Kenya now owns Miwani as the sole proprietor. But the government, the Kano community says, is free to sale the facility to a new investor, but such a deal must covered all its assets which include the sugar crushing mills, distillery and the 10,000 acres neuclus estate .

Moreover the 99 years lease has since expired, and if the government cannot find a new investor to resuscitate the facility, which is currently under the official receivership, then it could allow the community to repossess the land and distribute it to its original owners. It should revert to the sub-clans of Jo-Kano people for re-distribution to the landless people in the region.

The issue concerning the alleged secret auctioning of the 10,000 acres nucleus estate farm featured prominently during the burial of Mzee Opiko Aloo 89 years old a prominent elder who was highly respected by the entire. residents of the Kano plains in Nyando district.

The burial which was attended by thousands of mourners took place at Mzee Aloo’s homestead, which is located next to Onjiko Secondary School near the junction of Kisumu-Kisii and Kisumu-Kericho Road.

Mzee Walter Kitoto Adell, the chairman of Riwruok Dongo Kano Manyien (RIDOKAM) in an electrifying speech told the attentive mourners that the people of Kano plain were the blessed among members of the vast Luo community because the area is endowed with a abundance natural resources.

Mzee Adell cited the four Sugar manufacturing factories of Miwani, Kibos, Chemelil and Muhoroni sugar Company saying that all are situated on the land which belonged to Jokano people. He charged that all four industries, however, were only benefiting people from outside the Kano community in terms of employment, tendering for supplies and contracts. As well as sub=contracts.

Touching on the alleged sale of the 10,000 acres, Miwani Sugar Mills farm by alleged phantom creditor in a court case which is shrouded with questionable proceedings, Mzee Adell said that the land on which Miwani property stands on was an ancestral land of the Kano people which was given to the Company on 99 year lease at the opening of the 20th century. The lease has since expired. And it should revert to the original owners.

Anybody interested or who had legal claim on Miwani Sugar Company can only sell the factory, but not the land, which is exclusively a community property of the Kano people. He demanded that if the government which now own 100 per cent shares in Miwani is unable to sell the facility to suitable new investor then the land should revert to its former individual owners.

“there is nowhere the Kano people would allow any transaction of this land, and the community has no quarrel with the government if it hands over the entire Miwani facility to a new investor who in turn will be able to offer job opportunities to the local people. This good gesture would be very much welcomed by the community. But the Kano people will not allow low and see their prime land being taken over by outsiders on fictitious claims.

The sale of Miwani sugar Company under suspicious circumstances had recently elicited legal tuzzles in court between the joint official receivers=managers, Kenya Sugar Board and a ghost creditor, who had filed a suit in court demanding that Miwani paid Ksh 28 million owed to him by the Company for consultancy services rendered by the plaintiff in 1987.

A high court judge Mr. Justice John Mwera annulled the alleged sale in an 18 pages historical judgment and gave the plaintiff 21 days to appeal.

It later emerged that the court case was filed by pseudo businessman who allegedly had acted on behalf of cartel of business tycoons and sugarcane farmers of Indian origins who had conspired and hatched a secret plan to have the 10,000 neuclus farm given to them at a silver plate The conspirators had used all the tricks in the books including bribery, gagging the local scribes, compromising court officials, lawyers and the rest to act in their favors. But the trick backfired when the High Court Judge at Kisumu made the mailstone judgment annulling the sale of estate farm and at the same time suspending the new title deed of the farm, which had already been changed in a suspici.

Also in attendance at the burial of Mzee Opiko Aloo was the former Nyanza P.C. Peter Raburu, the former commissioner of Police, Phillemon Abong’o, the former Deputy Commissioner of Co-operatives, Henry Agimba, former Karachuonyo MP, Dr. Paul Adhu Awiti, a Maseno University lecturer Dr. M.O.T. Agodo, a prominent businessman and land valuer Ojowi Bengo, retired senior Administrative secretary with Kisumu municipality Mr. Adera Owiny, a former KSB director for Muhoron and a farmer/cum=businessman Samuel Bonyoi and John Ngere and the co-ordinator of RIDOKAM Justin Odiko.

The community vowed to pressure the government to sell Miwani only when the facility remain intact for the mutual benefit of all Kenyans and the local community to new and credible investors, and not to allow the company to be sold in a piece-meal at the whims of a cartel of Asian land grabbers who are hell-bend in sabotaging the government effort to off-load its shares in the facility.

The sentiments expressed by Mzee Adell were unanimously approved by the mourners. Some people in the crowd were heard shouting that if the government had no more interested then it should allow the Wananchi to go and settled on the land instead of it getting stolen by Asian land grabbers. A public meeting in which the Miwani issue will be deliberated has been called for Ahero multipurpose Centre on July 26, 2008 and all local politicians, civic leaders and MPs have been invited to attend and take a firm stand on Miwani saga.

End.

Re:Secrets of success-Part 1, 2;

Do you care for success? Have you ever wondered how your friends, colleagues, neighbors, family and more importantly your self can succeed in this world, and make it to the home for the saints!

In the next several posts, I will share with you what I have found out in the sure word of God. At the very onset, I must point out that our success in this adventure will depend on 4 factors, namely:

1.Our finding time to begin and continue with the search.
2.Our willingness to learn from those who have succeeded.
3.Our humility to trust and exercise faith in the Lord of the universe and our commitment to follow not the teachings of men, but “thus said the Lord.”
4.Our willingness to do away with the status quo mentality, and instead accept to look at things from a different perspective while at the same time avoiding negative attitude such as, “can anything good come out of Nazareth.”

To begin with, we’ll need to hear from one, who alone claims to have all that it takes to be successful.

Proverbs 8:15-18 By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just, by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth. I love those who love me ,and those who seek me find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.

1 Samuel 2:30 “Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: ‘ I promised that your house and your father’s house would minister before me forever. But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.”

Mathew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well

Genesis 18:14 Is anything too hard for the Lord?

James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom,he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault…

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith, it’s impossible to please God!

In our next search, we’ll want to hear some testimonies of those who have succeeded.

But, until then, be blessed!

If you ask those who have either succeeded or failed in life, they will tell you openly that one of the major factors, if not the major factor was obedience. As a matter of fact, Biblical archives contain stories that clearly support this notion. Any time the Lord of the universe called someone and stated how He planned to bless that individual and his or her family, God ended attaching obedience to it: Interestingly, whenever God rejected an individual, He did so based on disobedience. Some examples will suffice:

In Genesis 3:10 God asked Adam, “Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

Genesis Chapter 39 tells us that the good Lord was with Joseph and not only blessed him but also Pharaoh .The secret was total obedience to that which he had been taught.

In 1 Samuel 15, Saul was rejected as a king of Israel because of disobedience.

Daniel Chapters 1,3 and 6 tell us that Daniel,Shadrack, Meshack and Abdenego, succeeded in a foreign land because they chose to obey the living God rather than human beings.

The book of Jonah tells us that Jonah got himself into serious trouble for choosing to disobey God

In Mathew 7:21 Jesus made obedience as the condition for all those who will make it to the kingdom

In John 14:15 Jesus said,”If you love me, you will obey what I command

You and I have read the Bible enough to know what is right before God. God has no doubt stated clearly what He wants us to do. Today, take a few minutes and ask yourself these question?

1. Is there anything that I know is wrong and yet I continue to do it?
2. Am I doing things according to what the sure word of God is telling me or am I doing it to please my pastor, parents, spouse, or friends!
3.If there are instructions that God gave to be followed as long as we are a live, what makes you think that you can change them?
4.If indeed our success depends on not only knowing but also doing, “thus said the Lord,” what makes you think that you can get away with that?.

What’s more important to you? To listen to God or to listen either to your own imagination or to others?

Well, have a blessed obedient day! Will you?

Just a thought.

Re: Baraza La Maendeleo, A Idea For Prosperity.

Dear All,

I have an idea I have called  ‘a gathering for prosperity’ or Baraza La Maendeleo, and some of my friends asked for a proposal. So here below I have written it in a simple form. I share this idea at no cost with everyone I know, wherever they are, and ask that if you find this idea useful, that you in turn share it with others. Better still, you can start, or if existing, continue your Baraza La Maendeleo, but proceed with more meaning and purpose.

Indeed the idea of saving money in a merry-go-round fashion among friends is not  new. However, I have not seen it done with the suggestions I have made. Still, being in the  Independence Day spirit, I allow you to use my suggestions for free, without even remembering where they came from, provided you begin to save and invest.

To my East African community members in Tallahassee, look out for my invitation for our inauguration of our Baraza La Maendeleo.

Thanks
Dan Oronje.
Tallahasee, FL.

—————————

Preamble:

Many immigrants are finding themselves drifting further and further away from the real hope they had when they first landed in these United States, in pursuit of the American dream.

Calling:

In order to achieve real peace, happiness and prosperity, and successfully upgrade our survival status in these United States of America, a call is made to all men  and women within and without their community to congregate frequently in a Baraza La Maendeleo or A Gathering For Prosperity.

Purpose:

Other than the very much needed socialization, we must candidly talk as we educate ourselves in topics that we have traditionally avoided discussing with one another, including investment. Investment for this purpose will solely mean using money with intent to make/receive more money in return.

Process:

Two or more like-minded persons shall gather in a Baraza La Maendeleo, each with  a minimum of $10.00 contribution for the purpose of investing. At the toss of a  coin, a decision will be made as to who would be given the total of the money harvested for the day also called Mavuno. If more than two people are involved, a drawing with numbers 1, 2, 3, etc., will be made and followed to determine the sequence of the beneficiaries. The lucky individual will be mandated to invest the harvested money or Mavuno and report to the next Baraza La Maendeleo, for grilling or praise.

Agenda Format:

In the next Baraza La Maendeleo:

i) A report will be given by the previous beneficiary of Mavuno, to inform the attendees how he or she invested it.

ii) Attendees will criticize (positively or negatively), on whether the previous  beneficiary of Mavuno invested or whether he or she merely used the money for upkeep.

iii) If attendees criticize negatively, they must in turn give ideas on how the previous Mavuno could have been invested. This is to educate or help or challenge one another to master the discipline needed to use money to maker more money.

iv) Date and venue for the next gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo will be agreed upon.

v) Discussion or presentation of today’s topic will be made. (See suggested topics for Baraza La Maendeleo below).

Note: The process of Baraza La Maendeleo must be repeated each session in order to use time efficiently, so as to effectively achieve the goal and purpose of this idea.

Commandments:

1. Baraza La Maendeleo will have no leadership structure. (I think the reason why most partnerships, corporations and organizations collapse is not only due to mistrust or lack of leadership, but also due to fights against leadership or ambition to assume leadership).

2. Participants must send their share of Mavuno to each gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo, even when they would be absent.

3. Participants may be represented by their proxy to any gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo, 4. Once the number of participants reaches 12, the participants reserve the right of admission for any new member.

5. Each Baraza La Maendeleo shall not discriminate against ethnic, race, religion, nationality, creed, political affiliation, etc., against any new members.

6. Once a participant of a Baraza La Maendeleo, one may only cease participation  with the number of months’ notice corresponding to the number of participants in that Baraza La Maendeleo.

7. No money will be held by the Baraza La Maendeleo since there is no treasurer.  See commandment # 1.

8. Each attendee of a gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo will be punctual and use time wisely, recognizing that effective management of time and not necessarily investment is the main key to progress.

9. Socialize. Yes, socialize any which way your Baraza La Maendeleo agrees is appropriate.

10. No participant of a gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo is allowed to be disrespectful or disorderly. No gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo should allow any participant to leave the gathering while drunk.

11. Make sure your expenditure for socialization in any gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo is less not more than Mavuno.

12. No gathering of Baraza La Maedeleo should be constituted by persons 20 years  old or younger.

Suggested topics of discussion:

During a gathering of Baraza La Maendeleo, it is commanded that a topic is discussed.

This topic should be picked at the previous gathering. Suggested topics that are  in line with the purpose of this idea include, but not limited to:

– How to come to the USA legally,
– Ho to stay in the USA legally,
– How to write your will,
– How to buy a car,
– How to avoid foreclosure,
– How to eliminate credit debt,
– How to buy a house,
– How to select the best type of loan (Specify whether Student, Auto, Home, Business)
– How to select the best college for yourself or child,
– How to keep taxes low,
– How to stay healthy,
– How to live with your wife or husband in happiness,

– How to best raise a teenage daughter in USA
– How to best raise a teenage son in USA,
– How to buy stock,
– How to propose to a lady or gentleman,
– How to start a business
– How to plan, save and enjoy a vacation,
– How to start a corporation,
– How to improve your home.
– How to sell your home,
– How to buy other property,
– How to buy life, home, medical or legal insurance,
– How to run for office in these United States of America,

———Any many others.

Conclusion:

Turn your next social gathering into a meeting of purpose — that which will allow you to learn, prosper and teach your friend not only to survive in these United States of America, but also give them independence from living hand to mouth, which I still do.

May we all prosper and realize the American Dream.

Thanks.

Mr. Ochogo,

This idea qualifies for my statement of ‘How Good Can A Good Thing
Be,’ which Judith Onyango, Nyakwar Odanga would say “go ahead! translate it”
– ‘Gima Ber To Ber Nade?’

My 10th great grandfather Ragem, also gives it a ‘thumbs up’ in his own way.
Hopefully it will help us refocus lest we forget to do the
needful, especially when the fire in politics are as hot as the none
luminous flame, or as we  risk being contended that thinks are getting
better just because we are now in a ‘coalition.’

Thanks for prodding our minds and particularly, for sharing. I have tried
to say the same in my own way in the past. Be encouraged, simple ides are
what builds greater accomplishments.

Judy, Sam, K ´Onyiego & the rest,

I would advice we people to look very deeply into the FUTURE, Please can any one among you tell us what the FUTURE holds for Kenyans, or ODM, be it the year 2012 or after that?. The more a group of people or tribe lacks in actual competitive experience, the more it needs to make use of history for its instruction just as Judy wrote from the 1960s and Tom Mboya Oginga Odinga, Argwengs Kodhek, mbai   adventures etc. I will add this:   although history is no substitute for ACTUAL EXPERIENCE, it can be SOLID FOUNDATION for quickly and EFFECTIVELY learning from that EXPERIENCE.

Having said that I will be very simple this time and please do understand me now clearly: Who on earth will sell government properties to his tribesmen, imaginary comapnies, swindle money etc knowing very well that   by 2012 Hon. Raila might be the president?. Can any person wise in this group answer that?. On my simple mind I do think that these people have already calculated very well what plan and what they will do in 2012 so that Hon. Raila type of people will not get the presidency, neither the Prime ministry post under a new constitution. Because they know that if they allow that he will reverse all what they are doing today, remember 2012 is not too far away. So what option do we have now, the option is…….. some might not see the dawn of the 2012 election or they already know who will be the president after Kibaki. Let us not be the sleeping lots all the time. How many years have nyanza politicians been just making noise of corruption, lack of development, Kenya need this and that, do not grab land etc?. I think since Odinga parted ways with Kenyatta, do not forget that an average luo person life expecatncy is below 40 years,   so how many generations are going to pass before change comes?.   Guys please crack your heads hard and tell us where we are heading to?……. What ODM does not know is this: Kenyan is doing well and Kenyan is again receiving donors aid, and there is peace in Kenya to day becuase of the ODM politicians reconciliation motto. BUT what the ODM politicians have failed to do completely is this: THEY HAVE FAILED TO TAKE THAT OPPORTUNITY TO GAIN MORE INFLUENCE AND POWER. Without ODM`S reconciliation Kibaki would have ended nowhere even if he was still the president, Kenya would have been worse than Zimbabwe today. Dos the ODM leadership know that and what are they doing about it…?

Paul, Sam and Jairus,

In reference to Dr. Paul Nyandotos  Quote

“although history is no substitute for ACTUAL EXPERIENCE, it can be SOLID FOUNDATION for quickly and EFFECTIVELY learning from that EXPERIENCE”.

Yes, we have learned from experience that Kikuyu are trigger happy to assassinate those who politically oppose their political leadership advancement.   We have learned also that they are gluttons and do not understand a gentlemans dialogue, they have been exposed that they thrive from Kenyans hard earned sweat, and they rob with violence.   They kill their fellow human beings like animals who have been assembled for the slaughter house.   They have no morals and do not care for virtues.

We have decided to put a stop to that by teaming with the friends and allys of the world to defeat their selfish EGOCENTRIC.   We have learned that without curtailing their schemed plan, Kenyans will never be at peace with each other and the rest of other tribes will never see the inside of development  as well as  will never eradicate poverty from their community, region or localities  in their midst. We found out that this is the time.
That is why we cannot slow down.

America and Koffi Anan has helped us to slow these thieves from their hard stance.   Has helped us atleast to start negotiations from a point of Grand Coalition Gov. between the two PNU and ODM in a 50/50 i.e.half half Government Ministerial share.   Has given the PNU the Kikuyus a second chance, which they through Kibaki have thrown to the window.   Now it is time not to burgain with them any more, because they have taken Kenyans  for fools. They have to face the brunt of events that will follow.  We have to remain and stay on top of every game, until the next election. What I am saying is, the Kikuyu will see nothing like leadership in Kenya, now and in the future.   They will have to learn the hard way. They have also to vomit all that they stole from Kenyans. They want to play stupid, we will play smart.

From Tom Mboya up till Kipkalias Kones, enough is enough. This is the more reason why Kenyans will stop at nothing but bring Kimunya to his size, and if Kibaki wont comply, he too will follow suit.   Kenyans will start to breath a sigh of Peace Development and tranquility. That is why, some of us, will think of nothing else day in day out until the GEMA Mafia and their Kikuyu sympathizers will say Yes…… “we  must cooperate with the rest of Kenyans”.   But for Kimunya, it is too late.   Kimunyas case is over.   We are looking at Kibaki to act on Kimunya.   It is exactly why Kenyans and the world will never slow down.    GEMA Mafia and  some of the Kikuyus  are origins of the jungle and can only understand iron fist and fisticuffs. We must get the jungle out of them.   I am fired up!!!!!!

Let them not make a mistake or even  try  any stupid  assassination on any  one of them,
be it Raila or Ruto, Balala, Orengo or Dalmas or any of the ODMs, the whole Kikuyu will burn into ashes.

Good day people, I love you all – the fire must stay burning!!!!!

I would rather die than resign: That was Finance Minister Amos Kimunya’s answer to those who have been clamouring for his resignation.

The embattled minister came out fighting and accused Prime Minister Raila Odinga of being part of a wider scheme to bring him down.

Kimunya said if he had to resign, then Raila, Attorney General Amos Wako, Lands Minister James Orengo and anti-corruption commission director Aaron Ringera must also step aside to allow for investigation.

Kimunya, who has been in the eye of the storm over the Grand Regency Hotel sale, dug in and refused to step down saying: “I would rather die than resign.”
Finance minister Amos Kimunya and Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta at Miharati Stadium in Kipipiri constituency, on Sunday. The minister, who has been elusive since Parliament passed a Motion of no confidence in him on Wednesday, retreated to his Kipipiri constituency to launch a fight back at a rally at Miharati Stadium, less than three kilometres from his rural home.

The minister said he was a wrong target. Said he: “Instead of teaming up with me to catch the thief, they are targeting the wrong person.”

Bribes

Kimunya claimed that the PM was fully briefed prior to the transaction, but “ducked and set Orengo and Wako to implicate him” in the alleged scam.

The battle over the sale of the hotel promised to turn murky as the Finance minister sensationally claimed that Orengo blew the whistle after “his bid to solicit a Sh3 million bribe from a legal firm involved in the sale was turned down.”

“Orengo went public after he was denied a bribe of Sh3 million he demanded from a Mr Adan, one of the lawyers involved,” Kimunya said.

He challenged Orengo to deny ever making the bribe demand.

Kimunya’s claims drew quick fire from Raila, Wako, Orengo and lawyer Ahmed Adan who dismissed the allegations.

“Prime Minister Raila Odinga categorically denies and condemns Minister Kimunya’s allegations,” said a statement from the PM’s spokesman Salim Lone.

Mr Lone said: “The PM took up the issue of corruption allegations on Grand Regency forcefully when they surfaced in April and immediately addressed a letter seeking answers from KACC on a host of issues mentioned in the media.”

The statement added: “The PM was subsequently reassured, at least in part, when Mr Kimunya publicly dismissed talk of the Grand Regency sale and when news of the sale broke. The Cabinet committee on Finance that he chairs set up a team that produced a factual report on allegations of corruption within a day.”

Lone said Raila would issue a comprehensive statement today.

Reached for comment, Wako said on the telephone: “The Attorney General cannot be used in the manner in which the minister is claiming. My job is to safeguard the interest of all Kenyans. I deny completely, in the strongest possible terms, his allegations.”

Wako said a Central Bank of Kenya board of governors’ meeting had resolved that the AG be involved in the sale transaction, which he said he was not.

“The issue Kimunya should be telling the public is why Treasury and CBK bypassed the AG’s office after it had been resolved to involve it. That is what should be a big part of the investigation,” Wako said.

Adan said in a press conference he called after Kimunya’s allegations: “Orengo is a close friend, a polished lawyer I have worked shoulder to shoulder with. Kimunya’s allegations are falsehoods, baseless and the bribe theory totally unfounded.”

Raila refused defend him

Kimunya said: “Raila was very much briefed of all the transactions as regards Grand Regency. I suspected all was not well when he failed to come to Parliament to defend me on the very crucial day I was being discussed.”

The minister said he had personally been to the PM’s office where he briefed him and pleaded with him to prevail upon Parliament to defer the censor Motion until the following day.

But despite an assurance, the PM did not live up to his word.

In Parliament on Wednesday, Vice-President Kalonzo Musyoka unsuccessfully tried to convince Parliament to defer the censure Motion, saying Raila had requested so.

The hard-hitting Kimunya said: “I got an assurance from the PM that he had even talked with the Chief Whips and asked them to have the matter discussed the following day. But while in Parliament, I did not see Raila whom I expected to defend me,” said Kimunya.

The Finance minister said Orengo was informed of the deal on April 23.

He dismissed the team that was formed by the PM to investigate him, saying: “They have no moral standing to investigate me. If I am guilty, they too are. If the CBK official made a mistake and they are under me, Lands officials also did the same and Orengo should carry the burden too.”

He went on: “I am being crucified for what I never did. I will also quit my Kipipiri parliamentary seat if I am found guilty of any wrongdoing. There is no way Kipipiri people will be represented by a thief.”

Hire foreign investigator

He asked President Kibaki to summon foreign investigators to investigate the Grand Regency saga, saying he had no confidence in Kenyan sleuths.

“I am asking the President to invite internationally-recognised investigators to investigate the whole saga,” said Kimunya.

He claimed that a few days before the matter was raised in public by the Lands minister, the PM was first briefed and allegedly gave Orengo the go ahead.

“Orengo was at the Treasury to brief the PM. I was also at the Treasury. Why didn’t he brief me, too, or even ask for details of what he had found out before rushing to the Press?” asked Kimunya.

Reached on the telephone, Orengo reacted angrily, saying he had instructed his lawyers to sue the minister for defamation.

“Kimunya’s strategy of fighting back is backward and primitive. He should not try to pull along other people to sink along with him. Let him not trivialise an important national issue,” said the Lands minister.

Orengo added: “I have struggled for this country for a very long time. I cannot betray the cause and comrades we fought with while Kimunya was nowhere in the political radar.”

Its politics

On the composition of team headed by the AG to investigate the saga, Kimunya said it was “suspect”.

“If the same people who have been complaining that we (PNU) shortchanged them are the ones to investigate me, then I am sorry, they cannot be fair no matter what,” said Kimunya.

The Finance minister said he had acted in good faith and wondered why the AG had disowned him too.

“The AG has failed since 1993 to repossess the hotel on behalf of the Government. I, the CBK and the KACC teamed up and salvaged the hotel. How can he now turn and say I am wrong. Is he sincere?” he asked.

He said he was being fought because of his firm stand against corruption at the Treasury.

Said he: “I am being targeted because I am against corruption. Our rivals (ODM) went out during the campaigns and promised contractors that if they took over power, their pending bills would be cleared. I have said No until they show me justification. That is why I am being fought.”

He said he was as clean as snow and even invoked Jesus’ name, saying: “I am clean. Even if Jesus comes today, he will find me innocent. Even Jesus was crucified for sins he never committed.”

He took a swipe at leaders from Central Province, who had disowned him, saying: “They are rejoicing when I am in hot soup. But what will they do when the truth comes out?”

He was apparently referring to leaders, led by Justice and Constitutional Affairs minister Martha Karua, who have demanded accountability from Kimunya over the saga.

Kimunya said he was not given enough time to defend himself in Parliament when the matter came up for debate.

“The speed at which the matter was rushed proved that it was a pre-determined Motion. I was meant to be censored no matter what happened,” said the bitter minister.

  Folks,

Let everyone say,   “Kimunya be taken to Guatanamo” that is,  if Guatanamo is functioning.

Right now, he is too powerful  he can  endanger people in Kenya.

He should not be put to a Kenyan jail.  Guatanamo would be  more preferrable, while he Kimunya awaits charges to be preferred against him.   This man is extremely dangerous. He is a dare devil trying to prove he is too powerful no Kenyan can do any thing to him or challenge him.

This Kimunya is dummy.   He forgets the Grand Regency sale was  negotiated and completed before election.   In other words, this money was for their campaign.

They forced themselves to cling to power so to cover up using money stolen from Grand Regency, and when they were actually busted, they want to drag ODM Raila and Orengo into it. Remember, at the time they were soliciting for the money they were in a hurry to finance their election.   Regency sale transaction was already up for grabs well before election in Dec. 2007.   How can any fool believe his statement of dragging Raila and Orengo into his mess?

Kimunya charges for urgent quit notice are based on:
1) he used his public office to transact public property in a personal private manner without public consent.
2) he denied more than once when he was questioned earlier that the hotel was not sold and it was later proved that it was sold
3) He defied protocol ethics, legal order requirement proceedure for which he swore allegiance to observe and protect public property in a manner stipulated by law
4) he refused and boasted to public that he will not step aside or vacate public office
5) he continues boastfully, to occupy public office even  after  he has voted no confidence and the house demonstrated they have no more faith in him
6) he treated and continues to treat public matter as his personal private matter
7) he was trying to arm-twist fellow Members from exposing Grand Regency Saga to wait a little longer because he wanted block and to destroy evidence as well as manipulate members through scare and manipulative threats
8) from his statement, his behaviour and attitude  anyone can underscore Kenyan Leaders are under duress, he is the power-house using Kibaki as his press button, and using threats as a tool to silence anyone opposing his acts.
9) this is the reason why Orengo cried for dear life and requested for security protection
10) from Grand Regency Saga, it is evident that Corruption is the in-thing – Kimunya and team must advance in the highest level without obstruction or resistance
11) this is the more reason why ODM is not awarded 50/50 share of Government in the Cabinet
12) this is the more reason why Kibaki want to continue to have a complete power and restrict Raila’s to actively perform Prime Minister’s  responsibilies  so Raila may remain    under Kibaki’s wing and control.

In all this, Kibaki does not want to honour the Grand Coalition Government and would be more than happy he brings it down to unmanagiable level, so he can continue to suppress the DEMANDS of Kenyans and pursue a dictatorship Government.

Kimunya is an animal in the jungle, the best suitable place for him is Guatanamo cell incase the place exists, while  this matter is given indepth investigation – otherwise, many lives are going to be endangered.   Remember, he is a wounded lion.

Subject:   Kimunya: I’d rather die than resign – How about Guatanamo, is it functioning?

– – – – – – – – – – –

When the Hon James Orengo lifted the lead on the sale of Grand Regency Hotel, Kimunya’s first response was that this was a deal signed between President Kibaki and President Gaddaffi of Libya.

This was truly telling as Kimunya immediately removed the hang man’s noose from his neck, and firmly placed it on the Presidents neck.

Several days down the line, his storyline is changing. First, he denied the involvement of the President and that of Libya. Then, he is now bringing in the name of the Prime Minister. Can this be true?

If this is indeed true, why did he not come out with all the facts at the first instance when he mentioned President Kibaki? Could this have been an after thought to malign and besmirch the name of the Prime Minister?

Be that as it may, this thing stinks, and Kimunya should resign immediately.

He is saying that no one has come up with anything tangible that can compell him to resign. I wonder what type of skin this guy has, for there are several issues with all his 10 fingers of corruption on;
1] He did not advertise the Hotel for sale as is by law required.
2] He did not invite competitive bids from any interested parties.
3] He transacted this sale behind the backs of the Legal Advisor to the Government
4] He did not bring this issue before the cabinet.
5] He pretended to grant amnesty to one Kamlesh Pattni.
6] He undervalued the Hotel
7] ……….

Secondly, his other dealings with De La Rue, Safaricom, Telkom, Kenren, Anglo Leasing payments, etc are all wanting. If these are not as serious for Kimunya, then nothing will ever be.

For the sake of his family, his wife, his daughter, his father, his mother, and his friends, he should resign now.

PRESS RELEASE

PRESS STATEMENT FROM BISHOP DR WASHINGTON OGONYO NGEDE
July 5, 2008
The Grand Regency saga is headed to again divide the healing country should President Kibaki fail to read the moods of Kenyans over the matter and take appropriate action to save the country.

Kenyans are very much hurt with remarks by Trade Minister Uhuru Kenyatta over the Grand Regency issue when he tries to defend his cabinet colleague Amos Kimunya over an issue the public can easily see that there was a mistake.

Such sentiments by Uhuru, are destructive to the nation and to prevent further harm to this country, President Kibaki should move fast and dismiss Kimunya if Kenyans are to believe the government’s war on corruption in the country.

The Grand Regency sale and other graft related matters are of great national concern and Kenyans will not allow anybody irrespective of his/her status in the society to hoodwink them on such issues.

It is on that note therefore that we as Religious leaders, tell Minister Uhuru Kenyatta to realize that Kenyans are very much awake on the goings-on in the country and are not ready to be swayed or coaxed into believing the unbelievable matter.

Uhuru should stop behaving like ayouth winger to his cabinet colleague Amos Kimunya over the Grand Regency matter by trying to give unnecessary defence to the Finance Minister while anybody would clear see that Kimunya had an hand in this dubious sale of this great property.

Being a deputy Prime Minister, Uhuru should take the interest of Kenyans as apriority instead of giving comments that either clearly expose him as a youth winger or selfish individual, a move that discredit him as a national leader.

Once one is mentioned on such issues, the honorable thing to do is to step aside so as to facilitate investigation and we believe Uhuru Kenyatta knows this and Kenyans are now wondering why he has to defend Kimunya in this sensitive matter that almost everybody sees has a mistake.

Kenyans have spoken against the sale of the Grand regency hotel to foreigners, leave alone the manner in which the transactions were done, and there is no way the same Kenyans can allow just some few individuals to mess up the country for their own gain as majority and common citizens suffer.

The reactions from Kenyans including those of their political and religious leaders against the sale and the manner in which the whole issue was conducted, are enough for the Kimunya to move out of the Finance Ministry because it is clear Kenyans can no longer trust him to oversee their resources.

Uhuru must carefully weigh his statements especially those touching on the grand coalition government as he ,like any other Kenyans, knows the circumstances that led to birth of such a government. Kenyans wish will always carry the day and therefore the matter is not “a protect me or defend me issue” but of national concern.

We therefore ask President Kibaki to read the moods of Kenyans over the Grand Regency matter and dismiss Kimunya to avoid further debate on the issue which is headed to again divide the healing country.

God Bless Kenya.

CHAIRMAN POWER OF JESUS AROUND THE WORLD CHURCH AND COUNCIL OF NYANZA CHURCH LEADERS.

Very true Joram, The number of incompetent people in office in Kenya is just too scary. It’s time most of these people went home, Kimunya should do the most honourable thing of resigning just to pave way for investigations. If he is as smart as we all think, maybe he should name all the Big Dogs involved in all the scandals and join the “grand opposition” , this will also boost his political career and put him back on cause. Woud ragem, this scandal has shed some light to many kenyans, that it is them against the politicians and not against each other. Speaking to people on the ground, even the staunch PNU supporters are disgusted at Kimunya and co conduct. Maybe, just maybe this scandal is uniting the people of Kenya.

All this noise about Hon. Kimunya is another ploy by the PM and his cronies to take hold of one of the most powerful ministries. They are not done wrecking the country in their quest for more power and its now clear that the two factions (ODM n PNU) will never work together. Some of the loudest critics of the G.R sale are angry because they were left out(read Orengo). Had they been offered a slice of the pie, we would be looking at an entirely different scenario. Lets quit the DOMO about G.R sale coz even if it had stayed in the hands of the government, it would only have helped a few rich slobs get richer. Kimunya has proven that he can survive the game that defines Kenyan politics coz any smart mwananchi will tell u its abt money, money, money. Kimunya has the potential to go places and didn,t become a finance minister by accident, so, come next general election, KIMUNYA FOR PRESIDENT

That does not make sense Karuku, Orengo is the Minister for Lands. Everyone knows that land is the basis of many development hence the ‘nyakua’ policy by Kenyatta, which was also continued by Moi in ‘fuata nyayo’ mascarade. Whereas Kenyans have been divided and cheated, this time we are united like Kiereri observes. Otherwise explain why Karua, Muite, Imanyara, Mungatana, Kilonzo, Githunguri and many others are supporting the allegations against Kimuya. You may continue wagging the dog to divert attention with your tribalistic reasoning when Kimunya & Co have been caught red handed.

However, I put it to you, the last election brought Kenyans to see the worst of us when we killed each other. From the signs I am seeing lately, that was the last time a Kenyan blindly and idly stood by when it was obvious Wanajiku was being raped, killed or robbed. On the other hand, I too admired Kimunya in his zest and youth as he performed his duties as Finance Minister. However, due to the allegations leveled against him, he needs to step aside as investigations go on. If he is found clean, he can be reinstated. If he is not found clean, Kibaki should have the courage to fire him altogether. Jomo Kenyatta or Moi men enough to fire. Is Kibaki only ‘Domo’? As for him gunning for the presidency next time, the race is wide open.

The devil employed every means possible to destroy the man of Galilee! Here are some of the cruelest means and people that he used:

1.When king Herode attempted but miserably failed to kill baby Jesus,he went a head and killed all the boys in Jerusalem and its vicinity that were 2 years and under-Mathew 2:16-18. God have mercy!

2. Under the influence of the devil, the religious leaders made Christ’s life on earth so miserable. They not only called Him names, but also followed Him daily trying to find something to accuse Him of.

3.His so called brothers became the agents of the devil by accusing Him of making Himself to be equal to God! They saw Him as an impostor!

HOW DID JESUS DEAL WITH ALL THESE!

1.A ware of His hostile environment,He spent more time communing with His Father.

2.Since He knew all men and read every evil mischief in their wicked hearts, He more often than not stayed away from cities and people that were after His life.

3.With the knowledge that He was here but for a short period of time, He used every opportunity to accomplish the mission that brought Him to this world-to save the lost!

DID JESUS PREPARE HIS DISCIPLES FOR HIS DEPARTURE?

Yes, and here is how:

Mathew 16:21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the ends of the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.

John 14:1-3 Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am

John 14:18 I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you.

John 15:18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first.

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart ! I have overcome the world.

Those who resisted His departure did so not because they were going to miss His teachings but because of the daily protection and meeting their daily needs!

All said,at the fullness of time, He left as He had always taught. The good news though, is that He left with a promise that He will come again!

When that time comes, will I be ready? Will you?

Just a thought!

– – – – – – – – – – –

It’s 3 Am Saturday morning, July 5,2008. In this wee hours of the night, it’s very quiet inside my house and outside. My dear wife and children are soundly a sleep and have no idea whatsoever that I am up and at the computer putting down some thoughts! The only noise I can hear is of the air condition, the tickling of a clock and the one that emanates from the  computer keys.

Before I went to bed last night @ 10:00 pm, I received very sad news of
a dear sister in Christ. The last time I saw her, she and her husband were celebrating their milestone graduation as nurses. Then,I remember remarking how fortunate they were as a young family to have attained that success so soon. Now they would relax, enjoy life and take care of their young family. That was just a month ago!

So the news of her battling with a chronic disease hit me so hard! In this situation, I went to bed crying and praying for this God fearing and very beautiful young family. Oh!, my heart, thoughts, and prayers are with this lovely family!

And so this morning, I woke up and found myself thinking about the apostle Paul. His life experience can be summed up in four points:

1.The apostle Paul was a very learned and eloquent person with a lot of friends and enemies!
2.The apostle Paul is one person who gave all his energy to whatever he was convinced was right.
3.Time came when the apostle Paul found himself lonely having been rejected and forsaken by those he once considered brothers and sister in Christ. The enemies not only turned against him and his work, but did everything possible to make his life on earth bitter to the very end.
4.Having lost basically everything, the apostle Paul held to his faith to the very end, thus writing a very classic fare well note.

Here it’s!

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time for my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course,I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing-2 Timothy 4:6-7.

Yes, Paul, I absolutely agree with you. Blessed are they who will remain faithful unto their death beds for heaven will be theirs. There is no question that in this world, daily struggles, sickness, and death will continue to torment us, but then the good news is that there is life beyond the grave for God’s faithful ones.

And with this classic farewell,I not only bring this farewell series to the end, but also dedicate it to the young family that find themselves in the way of the valley and to all God’s children who might be called to drink from this bitter cup, so suddenly.

I am sick and tired of hearing all these evil reports! I so badly want to go home where all these struggles will be the things of the past! Do you want to go home! If not, what’s holding you up! Have you too been deceived by the enemy to think that you are still young and therefore have plenty of time! Oh! How I wish and pray that we can wake up from our slumber!
I am willing to. How about you dear friend!

Just a thought!

TJ MBOYA: The historical gem of Rusinga Island; How the late Tom Mboya fought back but lost the battle against late Jomo Kenyatta and elites Kiambu Mafia

The historical gem of Rusinga Island

A bloodstained brief case sits on a slab at the Tom Mboya Mausoleum in Rusinga Island, a stark reminder of his murder 39 years ago.

This was the briefcase Mboya had when he was shot. The burial chamber, constructed in 1971, is the shape of the silver bullet believed to have ended the life of the former Cabinet minister.

The black flywhisk the youngest minister in the first Cabinet of 27 after independence carried to political functions is also displayed in the mausoleum.

Mboya’s briefcase which is popular with visitors.

“Go and fight like this man who fought for mankind’s cause who died because he fought whose battles are still known,” reads an inscription on the marble grave.

The national flag that draped the casket is also tacked in the mausoleum. Also on display is a certificate that made Mboya an honorary citizen of the Kansas City in the US in 1966.

“US ambassador Michael Rannerberger was here recently

Mboya’s Mausoleum in Rusinga Island has become a historical site. It was built two years after his death. Picture by Titus Munala

and was so impressed by the certificate that he donated a clock to be hanged next to it,” says Paul Ndiege, 28, the caretaker of the mausoleum. He adds that several tourists visit the site in Lwanda village, Kamsengre, Rusinga West location, annually.

“Visitors come here for many reasons … some, like scholars and authors, come for research on TJ’s life, while others just for social and historical reasons,” says Ndiege.

Ndiege says the dark green suitcase that the minister carried when he was assassinated on a Saturday afternoon on July 5, 1969, interests 99 per cent of visitors.

“Many are amazed that the bloodstained brief case is still intact – – it is the most photographed item in the mausoleum,” says Ndiege.

The condolence book signed on the day Mboya was buried in his father’s compound 39 years ago is also among the highly valued items.Tourist attraction

Also preserved for posterity is the black nameplate, a souvenir from the Chinese Government, that stood on the minister’s desk. Several flags of the countries he visited and whose leaders paid him a courtesy call are hoisted in the burial chamber.

“People also have a lot of interest on the Bible with the holy water on top, which Mboya was given as a souvenir when on honeymoon in Israel in 1962,” says Ndiege.

The manicured mausoleum, which the Government recently expressed interest to take over as a museum, could pass as a pre-independence library.

Books and laminated newspaper cuttings on the struggles for independence and the role Mboya played are at the entrance.

“Several researchers travel from several corners of the world to dig information on pre-independence – most of which are on books written on Mboya,” says Ndiege.

How Mboya fought back but lost the battle
By Peter Orengo

In this second installation on the life and times of Tom Mboya, we revisits the intrigues in the first post-colonial Cabinet that primed the former minister for an early grave.

A serious ethnic power game and a premature Kenyatta succession battle erupted towards the close of the 1960s, providing a fertile ground anyone could use to hatch an assassination plot, The Standard can reveal.

This played out beneath the popularity and growing stature of Thomas Joseph Mboya, who was shot dead by a lone gunman on July 5, 1969, 39 years tomorrow. The killing bore all the hallmarks of a political assassination.

On June 4 1964, Kenyatta received a letter from the Office of the President minister Mbiyu Koinange about an East Africa Federation meeting that the minister did not attend in Kampala, Uganda.

Koinange was responding to an earlier letter by Mboya, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs.

President Kenyatta (front row, fourth from right) with some of the members of the first post-colonial Cabinet.

In the two-paragraph letter, Koinange pledged and reiterated his personal loyalty to Kenyatta and questioned Mboya’s intention in questioning his absence from the meeting.

Koinange wrote: “Sir, you know of my loyalty to you personally, to our Kanu party; of my long loyalty to Kenya and latterly my loyalty for our new independence Council of Ministers.

“I frankly feel there is no need for me to reply to Mr Mboya’s letter. It is unfortunate, ill-timed, egoistic and, if I may say so, an irresponsible letter skilfully designed by one of my colleagues to endanger the good working spirit among us.

Mboya responded 10 days later: “It is with reluctance that I feel I must write in response to Mr Koinange’s letter to you dated June 4 on the subject of the working party meeting held recently in Kampala, which he failed to attend.

He went ahead and derided Koinange: “We waited for Mr Koinange for more than three hours, but he made no effort to send a message about his ‘illness.’

“With regard to Mr Koinange’s loyalty and his attitude to federation, this is really his own problem and has nothing to do with me, or the letter I wrote you.

Mboya went on to say Koinange should contact him for discussion instead of ‘reporting’ the matter to Kenyatta.

Two years later, the two leaders traded accusations, this time corresponding between themselves, on protocol and consultation. A December 16 1967 letter by Koinange reads in part: “His Excellency the President, Mzee Jomo Kenyatta, appointed the Hon Joseph Murumbi, the Vice-President, to preside over meetings of the Foreign Affairs Committee.

Protocol wars

“It is out of place for you to have suggested that our colleague, the Minister for Finance, the Hon JS Gichuru, should ‘arrange for a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee members to be held in (his) Conference Room … And that he should ‘convene a meeting of all ministers under (his) chairmanship’. This definitely interferes with the appointment made by the President and should, therefore, be void.

Mboya’s reply was strong and full of innuendos: “I must confess that I am a bit at a loss as regards the comments that you made. I never intended to suggest that he (Gichuru) should take over the management of the Foreign Affairs Committee… All I said was that he should facilitate the convening of such a meeting so that these matters (ministers’ conditions of service) can be resolved.

Mboya said his personal feeling and duty were to communicate to his colleague’s ideas he came across in his travels outside or inside Kenya.

To him, this did not mean interfering with the portfolio of another minister.

“I regret that you should have read anything in my letter which should in any way mean that I thought that Mr Murumbi was no longer responsible for his duties. He added: “Interpretations which you somehow manage to read into the letters! Perhaps the best thing in communicating with fellow ministers is not through letters, but by discussing problems together.

The Odinga factor

While the Mboya-Koinage wars were raging on, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga’s Kenya People’s Union (KPU) was plotting how to cut down his popularity. This came in the form of a Motion in July 1967 by Mr Oduya Oprong to censure Mboya for allegedly being a CIA agent.

Oprong, born in 1936 and a former Assistant minister and MP for Amagoro, was among politicians who joined Odinga to press for the release of Kenyatta and others from detention before independence.

The Motion was overwhelmingly defeated, and Mboya wrote two letters, one to the Press and another to Kanu members. Mboya termed the evidence tabled in the House as “a discredited attempt at reviving forgeries of 1959″, which he had fought in 1960.

He said it was a poor attempt by the opposition (KPU) to use a book, CIA and American Labour, which merely quoted from another document to smear him.

He said: “This is a case of one being declared guilty by association. The fact that some American trade unionists may be proved to have been associated with the CIA does not lead to the conclusion that anyone or an organisation from Africa who had any contact with American trade unions is a CIA agent.

Mboya wondered why the Motion was tabled weeks after a Chinese paper attacked his character. To him, this was a campaign designed to sow seeds of suspicion and confusion among MPs and Kenyans.

He called on everyone to be vigilant, since ‘masters’ behind these activities do not give up easily. He also added that “during Kenya’s struggle for independence, we had to seek many friends and assistance from countries around the world.

Mboya probably made things worse for himself by the clinical and ruthless methods to consign his nemesis, Odinga, to political oblivion. Mboya played a key part in watering down the Independence Constitution to concentrate powers in the presidency.

The manoeuvres did not stop with the Constitution. For instance, Mboya proposed a new Kanu structure in which the party would have eight vice-presidents, one from each of the country’s eight province.

This amendment sailed through and effectively wiped out the power base of Odinga, then the party vice-president. Jaramogi resigned. But Mboya’s craftiness did not end there.

Rogue tactics

He led the first-ever delegation of Luo elders, businessmen and intellectuals to visit Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi. A memorandum was presented to the president assuring him of their loyalty to his leadership.

“There are too many careless and reckless statements abroad and here, branding all Luos supporters of KPU and hence anti-Government. What you see here, your Excellency, are the true leaders of the Luo, Mboya said.

Another constitutional amendment, this time in Parliament, requiring that any candidate who changed political parties seek fresh mandate from the people, swiftly sailed through.

Many people believed that Mboya was being groomed by Kenyatta as a potential successor, a possibility that worried the ruling elite. When Mboya suggested in Parliament that a number of Kikuyu politicians, including members of Kenyatta’s extended family, were enriching themselves at the expense of other Kenyans, the situation became highly charged.

On July 5 1969, Mboya was slain and the assassin was Kikuyu. This pushed animosity between the Kikuyu and Luo to a new high.

Allegations linking the assassin to prominent Government officials were dismissed, and in the ensuing political turmoil, Kenyatta banned the opposition party, KPU, and arrested Odinga, the leader.

KENYA COMMUNITY ABROAD (KCA) ASKS KIMUNYA TO STEP ASIDE

PRESS RELEASE: KIMUNYA STEP ASIDE
Friday, July 4th 2008

Following the passing of a vote of no confidence by Parliament on Finance Minister Mr. Amos Kimunya and the recommendations of the probe committee appointed by the Prime Minister on the sale of the Grand Regency hotel, there appears to be wrongdoing by the minister. Therefore, KCA calls upon the Finance Minister to step aside to pave way for independent investigations into the sale of the hotel. KCA also calls for the stepping aside of Central Bank Governor Professor Njuguna Ndungu and the Head of National Security Intelligence Services Mr. Gichangi as recommended by the probe committee. KCA is aware that unfettered corruption over the years has been responsible for the slow pace of economic development into which the country seems irredeemably stuck.

If it is established that indeed the sale of The Grand Regency by the Central Bank of Kenya, under the patronage of the Finance Minster is a case of corruption, then we urge President Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila to come out strongly and take necessary actions that to the eyes of all Kenyan citizens will satisfactorily demonstrate that they are serious about dealing with corruption, and having a “clean cabinet” KCA would also like to take this opportunity to express dismay over the government`s seemingly insatiable appetite for disposing government investments to foreigners when hundreds of billions of shillings are being refunded to enthusiastic Kenyan investors as witnessed in the recent Initial Public Offerings. We urge the managers of privatization of government investments to always give Kenyan citizens priority to buy such interests because they were primarily built with their taxes in the first instance. KCA looks forward to the speedy passage and enactment of the Kenya Freedom of Information Bill 2007 “to enable the public to access information in possession of public authorities” to continually hold the government accountable.

Jared Oluoch,
Secretary,
The Kenyan Community Abroad (KCA).

Let Us Clean our Kenya House first

The Grand Coalition Government has left a very serious power vacuum in which looters have their hands on Kenya’s
(1)   Land
(2)   Infrastructures
(3)   Natural Resources
(4)   Treasury
(5)   Other Public properties

The bloated cabinet Ministers  drawing huge monthly  salaries as “figure heads”  seem not to have no clues about the facts surrounding the grand scale corruption that went on prior to December 27, 2007 elections and the turmoil that followed. It looks like the Coalition government was put together without  “RULES OF ENGAGEMENT”. If there were rules of engagement, nobody  would conduct government business unilaterally like sale of Grand Regency by Amos Kimunya. There must be an oversight body drawn from both ODM and PNU conducting business on behalf of the Coalition Government  which is suppose to represent Kenyan citizens.

There has be frequent reference to the “government” by PNU coalition partner. This reference seems to imply that PNU is the “government”. That means, ODM is merely a subsidiary under the that government. How then can ODM claim to be equal partner in this GRAND COALITION GOVERNMENT? There is no coalition if the left hand does no what the right is doing! The means there is a very dangerous power vacuum and poor Kenyans are paying a very hefty prize because they are being leeched dry by the escalating prices and unemployment.

Sales of properties belonging to Kenya must be approved by both PNU and ODM Members if GRAND COALITION GOVERNMENT is worth the paper it is written on. Additionally, there must be an Oversight Committee monitoring legality of every transaction.

Things like —>
http://www.bdafrica.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=8541&Itemid=5813
must not be allowed unless corruption continuing  or the persons in charge have no powers (figure heads), asleep at the wheels or is part of the continued corruption! This must stop because poor Kenyans are the victims of what is going on.

Kenya is pristine real estate with vast natural resources. If this real estate can be properly managed , may be the slums in Kenya, particularly, Kibera and Mathare can be replaced with better housing for the poor Kenyans living there. May be good roads, water and sewage treatments and employment can be achieved.

Dear Wanakazi,

I was just laughing to myself yesterday, our politicians have done it again, they have successfully turned public focus from themselves (to pay or not to  pay tax) and effectively put up a sacrificial lamb (Kimunya) – not that he is innocent, for the public to focus on, by the time we all come back to the issue of tax, the urgency of the matter will have dwindled.

They must have all known about the GR deal a long time ago….why raise it now??

Anyway, let me settle back and enjoy the show as we go along.

Am trying to understand your point of view and am totally lost.

Mr Kimunya deliberately engaged the MPs in an argument that they cannot obviously win meanwhile diverting attention from the biggest irrationality innate in the budget he read to the house. The man proposed not to cut government costs AT ALL and intends to spend 85 shillings of every 100 shillings of our tax on the governments recurrent costs. This means that he has left only 15 shillings of tax for every 100 shillings for development expenditure.

WHAT FURTHER FUELED THE POST ELECTION VIOLENCE, inequalities among the Kenyan people.  Today the economic growth is being projected at 3-4% which is almost half of last year’s. Inflation which stands at 31% has really put many Kenyans  between a rock and a hard place in terms of consumer power. There are expectations that millions will go back to living below the poverty line because of this.

Therefore even though we tax the MP’s, how will that money trickle down to us if 85% of ever 100 shillings of tax goes to recurring gvt costs. It only means that 15% percent of it is what you and I can look forward to. In any case majority of the MPs making the most noise about Kimunya support the tax proposal, HE should table the bill for approval.!!!!!!

Instead What we need is a budget that is development conscious to safeguard us from the rising cost of living not a useless debate that we will not benefit from.

Vicky,

You actually captured my point of view in your argument, we as Kenyans are wasting too much energy debating on taxation, on GR and Anglo leasing scandals and all other issues when the real plight of the common wananchi still festers on.

We need people to stop and take a step back and refuse to join in the political antics of our honourable members of parliament and challenge them to instead focus on nation building and be team players with the rest of us (which will, I firmly believe, result in a budget that as you say is development concious and an improvement of our living conditions and of course, narrow the gap between the rich and the poor – dare I hope).

That is why I took a step back and observed wryly that we are doing what we always do, lose focus on the pertinent issues as kenyans and focus on what, even though it matters, is the news of the day.

Listen Mercy,

There Is No Magic Silver Bullet to evade charge against Kimunya, unless Amos Kimunya is put behind bars. You can cry, you can waggle all you can and say all you want but his ass is on fire.   Kimunya is the SPORTLIGHT no turning sideways.  He has holed all Kenyans money, and caused many to loose dear life.  You speak for him like he is the only one who has valuable life with wife and daughter and parents – others are animals, they are good for slaughter and assassinations, they have no right for living on Kenyan soild and when they are killed in cold blooded by Mungiki thugs and those possing as police sent to kill, excecution style. Give me a break………..Kenyans have no other angle to start, other than from Kimunya’s point onwards. Do you think you are smart?  Do you want to change focus so you can do your filth of assassination or cause some to dissappear? Are you not even ashamed of Kimunya’s unearthed deal.  What is your take? First things first.

We know Kibaki is trying to cool the temperature and he does not want to sack Kimunya. Whether he likes it or not Kimunya is going.  Unless he is going to live in Mass, even in Moon Kenyans and sympathizers will go there and get him.  He must be accountable for high level of economic crime of public embezzlement.

Is Kimunya bigger than Saddam Hussein?????????????????

Dont Change Focus.  Kenyans are not stupid.  Have you been sent?  Go back and tell your senders, its too late.  We will go down with you all into the deepest hole you choose.  Get that straight.  You have been laying balanced diet on your dining table having all the goodies stolen from Kenyans from Revenues, Donor money, Development Funds, Taxes et all – while the rest of Kenyans bearly can survive, where are you taking us. You think Kenyans are DUMMIES?

I advice you to focus with us on Kimunya, dont get us worked up.

Good Day.

Sam and K’onyiego,

I seem to understand Nyandoto’s sentiment and he is as frustrated as any Kenyan in the majority  today, or some of us, so frustrated that I feel like the Jirongo’s and other Mps who on Monday are going match to evict Kimunya from enjoying public utility in the Government Finance Ministry.  I have the same energy something within me tells me I can walk from USA to go join the Jirongo’s and akina Ababus in evicting Kimunya from office.  I did not sleep last night and this morning I have red eyes with severe headache from not sleeping.  I was dreaming I was running harder than I can imagine spiting fire while Police were in hot pursuit behind me lashing me hard with their bantons. I was running because I did not want them to pin me down so they can ground and silense me.  I was using all the muscles on my neck telling them off.  My friend, from experience, it is all fresh in my memory and I can imagine what Kenyan feel today in the peak of when the truth and facts have been unearthed and are lying on the table.

While Nyandoto respects ethics of his job and under humanitarian – to condemn an act of inhumanity or to punish someone from wrongdoing does not mean tit for tat, or an eye for an eye or hate.  It means correctional measures that such acts are punishable by law.  That they cannot escape the arm of the law when followed to the later.  That is why they swear allegiance to respectfully and dilligently serve and protect public utility and resources that which are entrusted them by virtue of their representation, as public servants. Simply Nyandoto cannot fanthom why a Criminal Thug is given a roll-over red carpet, to a point he goes back to the office and brags (see attatched).  In his hands he has killed so many from Goldenberg Saga till now, and he is still eyeing to assassinate more so to silence them or people to fear him while he continues to loot and steal.  We still dont know what happen, why the proprietor (businessman of Asian origin) of the Grand Regency died in his room the day the Grand Regency transfer was going to be completed.  Nobody seems to talk about it.

However, it is a tricky affair in that (in the Grand Coalition Government) Rt. Hon. PM Raila has done his part as the head and the Boss of Ministers.  He coordinated working committee offices involved to go through their documentations and investigate under Wako Team. More information were revealed that were still unknown to the public which were found unscrupulous – evidential proof convicting Kimunya of thieving under Economic Criminal Charge by commission, which was now requiring authorization of the President Kibaki to endorse.  Raila found himself confronted with unforseeable circumstances, a condition Kibaki refused to comply to attend scheduled meeting which was to take place the next day at 10.00a.m. reasons that the information findings of report was received and dispatched to public by media before the siting of Full Cabinet Meeting.

This is total hoodwinking.  Kibaki has refused to do his part as he promised. From the activities on the ground, their attitude portrays team players. It is evident Kibaki is  working in cohort with Kimunya – the more reason why Kibaki refused to cede and accept he was defeated by Raila and ODM so they can take and control key positions in the Ministry, knowing very well that they stole.  This is evidential proof enough to Kenyans and the Republic as well as the World that there is no purpose for Grand Coalition Government, because a section of PNU cannot be trusted, that their activities are found to be wanting, that their intentions are to continue to frustrate and corrupt the Republic of Kenya through Economic Flight and by thieving robbery with violence – stealing from the country and its people their humble survival livelihood by design and by croocked means.  These people are ready to kill by execution style and are instiling fear to the general public and its citizenry.  A situation if not put to a stop, many lives will be lost and a civil war is most likely to errupt.

For this reason, I appeal to everyone in Diaspora (UK, Sweden, Finland and elsewhere in the World) to start contacting their Senators and Congress leaders, to go for demonstration On Tuesday to submit their resolutions. Let us also receive support from Kenyan Friends and Sympathizers as well as African Union to intervene so this characters do not disappear with Kenyans money as well as have their accounts frozen all over the world.

Keep busy people and lets team up to put these people behind bars.

Please watch the videos………

Raila and ODM should stay the course and take leadership of the Government because
they won the election.

By copy of this email, I share the stories and Exhibits herein with my Senator Ben Cardin and Senator Feingold to do the needful and that I will contact them soon for the same.  For those who have no contacts for their leaders, Senators or Congressmen and Congresswomen, let me know so I can connect them.

Mercy Katini,
You need heads up.
There are lots of money from revenue and tax collections Kimunya is holding for distribution for KIKUYUS ONLY (this money collected from levy, NSSF etc needs to be located) something Kenyans dont know about, but must be told, that their money in Kimunya’s custody and its whereabout is questionable.
What does it matter when Parliamentarians job calling require such allowances at their convenience discharge for service in effective participation?
Yes Kimunya must go to jail because he stole from innocent unsuspecting Kenyan Public.
Gear-up!!!!!! and thank you.

Mr Kimunya is too corrupt and arrogant for public office, says civil activist

Good People,
I have closely followed Government Ministers for a long time. However, so far, none has been as arrogant as Kimunya-not even my professional colleague Dr Murungaru was as arrogant!!!
First he claimed Raila was as good as a fishmonger!
Then he went ahead to say MPs are a bunch of ignorant-ass-niggers!
And he finally declared Kenyans to be incapable of thinking of anything aside from useless rumour mongering inspired by taking one too many cheap low molecular weight fluidy substances with a high tendency of rendering them sightless!!!
As if that is not enough, he asserts that it’s in the interest of this nation that he does not relinquish his docket at the Treasury! Essentially he was saying, I’m your last chance you fools!!! Show me a man more conceited and I’ll show you the devil incarnate!
Now have a look at aman who claims to be our last chance:
· Goes to Parliament to claim the Govt still owns GR when it has been sold;
· Puts the photo and signature of one man and the ID of another as a single entity in the list of directors!
· Claims GR has been bought by the Libyan Govt when the Company buying it is a Kenyan-Registered Limited Liability company!
· Gets 30 minutes on national Radio and TV to defend himself and tells us about his wife, daughter, family and friends!
And now about his record:
· Has worked in the SERIOUS FRAUD office in the UK;
· Sat in the Board that appointed Justice Aaron Ringera;
· Crafted the Economic Crimes Act;
· Head hunted and Appointed the Governor of Central Bank;
· Sat on the Privatization act for 3 Years!
Do you know of a better qualification for a man to commit fraud against the republic???
If Kimunya is fired for nothing else, it should be because he is STUPID!!!

Folks,

This is truely painful. Looking back in history of Kenya, Luos have been used as ladders for Kikuyus suprimacy, then executed
or terminated and many have disappeared or had mysterious road accidents. accidents that are truely questionable. Luo Community have lost
prime lives and shed blood for dear Justice and Democracy. I have been told, that cadets or policemen who were used to do such shoddy jobs were then given money and tickets to find assylum overseas and many came here to USA, UK and elsewhere as refugees. Some took tracks with neighbouring tag numbers, await for their kill at some spot on the road, or trail them then fake the accident. Some of these emissary killers are on the loose, and are enjoying peaceful lives in foreign countries oversea but are still the cartel of Kibaki, Moi, Saitoti, Biwot, Michuki, Kimunya, Martha Karua, Uhuru Kenyatta, just to mention a few. Some of the cartels or Killer agents have since gone back to
Kenya and are living comfortably, teaming up with the same.
Since Tom Mboya was assassinated in 1963, it is exactly 45 years. He did nothing bad to Kenyans. All he did was to utilize the brain power God gave him to dedicate his life for Kenya and he was a truely generous and committed man to Democratization cause.
Down the line in history today, Luos are still
a sacrificial lamb for Kikuyus to stay in power, even to a point they have channelled Kenyan resources from revenue collection, rent, fees, taxes, levi, NSSF etc as well as the discharge of public utilities to themselves and to their personal accounts an independent usage at their disposal.

It was clear, Raila and ODM won the election. Kibaki and Team stole the votes, refused to cede and remained in power. Thanks to God for America to have heeded to our cry, stepped in and helped salvage the situation in conjuction with Koffi Annan. The Grand Coalition Government was formed. Kibaki refused to share 50/50 and to distribute the Cabinet evenly. Raila is trying to tone and play the lame duck for dear lives of Kenyans. Kenyans, as they speak are ready to spill the beans to go to civil war, because these people the Kibaki and Kimunya’s wont bulge. The Kibaki’s and Kimunya’s have trained Mungiki Gang in Uganda and elsewhere, ready to combat with unarmed Kenyans. Today, Kimunya have been exposed and a Vote of No Confidence was prefered upon him, but he still refused to resign, bow down or leave office but remained defiant to Kenyans demand. Kibaki have technically refused to sack Kimunya.

Kenyans, Friends, Sympathizers, Foes and Allys, If I take the road to humbly speak for the majority voices to request for the Super Powers of the World Headed by USA; to come together and help Kenyans at this juncture, (tomorrow will be too late) to forcefully remove the Kibaki’s and the Kimunya’s from leadership as well as Moi’s and Biwot’s and be put behind bars – so that proper investigations of their past and present may take place, and that they can be held accountable and responsible for all the lives terminated and be charged according to law, so Kenyans can enjoy peace and tranquility, and be able to have the much needed Justice, Human Rights and Democracy together with the completion of the Constitution, will I have asked too much? To see whats going on in Kenya and Kimunya bragging and displaying tuff headed after he has been caught red-handedly and exposed to the public and the world, I am bemused.

With the fallen HEROS of Kenyans, may we plead again to the Super Powers headed by USA to jointly support this worthy cause of removing Kibaki, Kimunya and Team and support Raila and ODM to Rule Kenya until the next election in four years time? This can be the only gift to the family of the fallen heros in Kenya.

I salute America today the 4th of July in celebrating their Independence. May God Bless America, May God make America the Pillar of the World and May He God continue to make America strong and powerful by giving and annointing focused leaders who will remain servants of the people and who will shape America to shine and be respected all over the world. America a Community of Nations, America a country God favoured to be the light of the world. A light on top of the mountain shines the city.

God Bless America, God Bless you all and Kenyans will overcome, it can be done and it will be done.

I love you comrades, I love America, I love you all.

Sam,

While I appreciate your comments, there is one point I dispute

Quote
“I must sound a warning, however, that if we acted in haste and seemed like we were eager to walk out of this coalition, the PNU will be the side to build a case against us. Because when all is said and done, we are playing to the audience in Kenya on the one hand, and the international community, on the other. So while we keep the pressure on the actors on the ground, let’s be mindful of the pace of events.”

Any Politics must be timely with  corresponding speed.   If you slack you will slake and will get  consumed and be destroyed.   For this Kimunya  case at hand, and in this circumstance, the story is overdue.   It is about time for action.

Kenyan political wrangle story started way back from Tom Mboya (read on here under) –
it is an ongoing strategy by the Gema Mafia.   We now know from reliable evidence
that many of our young generation have been bought by the Kikuyu to sing a different
song without knowing they have been crafted on the scheme of Gema Mafia designed
plan.   Some of our young got drunk with the money dished out to them in pretense
they should team for  new young  leadership. These are their listed strategy
we knew about before election. They  have the youth  financed or sponsored for
leadership yet they are clueless of the past history and have not engraved to study
the wisdom of the older generation group, so they can journey in a fortified security
details knowing where we are coming and where we are going  as well as  what hurdles
are on the way.   They cannot go it alone without blessings  from the older folks.   The
young therefore will be an easy catch.    Here is where our young will unknowingly fit with
and become victims of the GEMA Mafia machination and game plan.   They will be
used to destroy their older generation folks and term them old fashioned.

Having said that, I urge you to love and care for your older folks, dont be in a hurry for
leadership, step by step reinforce your knowledge and understanding and join the
older folks as interns, pick it from there.   Share your thoughts and trade in with those of
your own  , be open to them, otherwise you will destroy your community.   Dont became Judases, avoid it if you can.

Many will not want to hear my story and will dismiss it immediately, but many will
take a moment to digest what I shared with you today to recline to a fortified strategy,
and yet there are those who have eaten, have a bone stuck on their neck will have to execute their mission come rain come sunshine -  will, with an instant, start to throw tantrums at me a turbulent I am familiar with – a case in point is Kabila some rumours
say was compromised to kill his father so the young can take leadership.   Again its all
playing in the masters tune. The mission still unaccomplished.

Ladies and Gentlement, young and old, money is not everything. Dont get drunk. Stay
sober and learn from past experiences. Wisdom is calling give it your ears and you
will be blessed even to your generation to come.

Wish you all the best and God Bless you.

Also, now there is an additional way as well. Find / select login (near bottom of 3rd column).. Do the registration procedure. After system reply, as “a contributor” you should be able to log in and choose “write a post”:.

If you choose that second kind of interaction, here are some formatting instructions. They are to permit a moderator to find new submissions.

Choose your post’s title. Place it at the BOTTOM of article’s body, along with time/date, your name as sender of the material.
Given that there is a text line for title, leave it blank.
A moderator will find articles having an automatic sequence number at top, title at end of body, then evaluate those items for publication decision.
