Re: FOR PRESS RELEASE – ODM WASHINGTON DC MEETS PARTY LEADER

We must hold forte, and look to the future with confidence in one united Kenya, where we all have equal access to all opportunities, where we do not become more clever with our partners in a union supposedly equal.

Re:Up date on my sickness!

Hard to believe that I did not make it to church today due to the Doctors instruction of bed rest. This was the second time ever since I came to this country!

Just wanted to write and express my deepest appreciation to each one of you for your overwhelming get well messages. Since Wednesday, I have received e-mails and telephone calls from every corner; leave alone both hospital and home visitation that has surprised my children. The flowers and get well cards have truly humbled me.

Many keep on telling me how luck I am to be alive. I have been made aware that blood clots are a 1 minute killer! “Why me dear Lord!” has been the cry of my heart. Instead of the “why me Lord,” of whining and complaining, the current “Why me Lord!,” has been of appreciation. What good have I done to deserve another lease? The Lord knows. Mine is to do His daily bidings at whatever cost.

I am gaining my strength, but slowly. All keep on reminding me to rest. Apparently everyone seems to know my problem-always on the move.

This past week, our community-the Twin Cities,Minnesota, has been hit hard with so many tragedies. Much as I would have loved to accompany others in comforting them, my poor health would not allow.

My prayers and thoughts are with all those who are mourning. My thanks and deepest appreciation to all those who have ministered to me in one way or the other.

Let us keep on praying for another.

Re:Signs of His 2nd coming!

Are you concerned about what’s going on in the world around? Do you really care to know what’s happening? I have an answer for you!

Before Jesus left for His heavenly home, He told His disciples about the signs of His 2nd coming. The signs are recorded in Mathew 24:1-51; Mark 13:1-37; Luke 21:5-36

As you read those passages,note the following phrases/Scriptures!

Mathew 24:12 The love of most will grow cold.

Mathew 24:13 Whoever stands firm to the end will be saved.

Mathew 24:15 When you see all these things happening let whoever reads understand

Mathew 24:20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath.

Mark 12:37 What I say to you, I say to everyone: ‘Watch!'”

Luke 21:32 I tell you the truth,this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away

You and I, who since childhood have heard the sure word of God, need to let all those around us know what’s happening. But even more crucial,there is need to wake up for our salvation is nearer than many of us realize. Am I ready to receive the Lord of the universe? Are you? If not, why not?

Just a thought

Re: A look @ Moses again!

Writing to the Corinthian believers, the Apostle Paul said, “Now these things occurred as examples to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.” (1 Corinthians 10:6.)

Although I have written before on this man of God, I still feel that there is still much more that we can learn from his strenght/weakness!

1.Although Pharaoh planned to kill Moses as an infant,the good Lord worked out things in such away that Moses was brought up and protected by the same person who wanted to kill him.

2.Besides sparing his life,God made it possible for Moses to be brought up by his own mother who taught him the things of God.

3.Even though Moses understood the plan of God and knew without any doubt of God’s power to save his people, Moses not only took things into his own hands,but also went a head of God by killing an Egyptian as a way of revenge. In this way, Moses became an enemy to himself!

4.God in His great mercy undertook to train Moses further by assigning him the work of dealing with the sheep for another 40 years.

5.Moses faced opposition from his own brother and sister who questioned God’s wisdom in choosing Moses alone as a leader. They did not understand why God chose Moses and not them. They even made a big deal of his marriage to a foreigner. At one time, God punished them by allowing leprosy to fall on Miriam. When they cried for help, God did another interesting thing by asking His servant Moses to pray for Miriam!

6.Besides opposition from his siblings, Moses faced all kinds of opposition from the people he was leading. The good Lord who knows all His children better than they know themselves, from time to time punished those who were opposing His man servant. The book of Numbers tells us that at one time,the land opened and the trouble causers were swallowed alive!

7.Although Numbers 12:3 describes Moses as “the meekest man on earth.” he made another silly mistake by hitting the rock twice. Due to this
un-becoming behavior, Moses was not allowed into the earthly Canaan. Here is a lesson for all of us. God will never accept any excuse for sin. Blaming family members, fellow church members or any other will not do. Each one of us will have to give an account on his own.

8.God who knew Moses and how repentent he was,took him to a better place-where God dwells!

To learn more about this man of God, read the book of Exodus and Numbers.

Blessings.

LUO MPS IN UNITY AND SUPPORT WE CAN MAKE IT

Over the years since the dawn of independence Luo Nyanza has never experienced any tangible development support because they have never been in government Our MPs have also been able to convince their electorate that their poor development records is because they have been left out in the cold because they pursued a different political agenda to that of the government. I wonder which one?

Whenever any Luo MP supports or is in the government the majority are against him irrespective of the development agenda he/she pursues. We have been used since independence for other tribe¢s political and economic gains. Lets us take a look at the Kisii Nyanza; these are people who have prospered because they are united and support each other. They are proud of what they achieved during the last three regimes. They control the transport system in the whole of Nyanza and have settled and constructed palatial buildings in almost everywhere. These are people who stay together as brothers and sisters.

We Luos are proud of nothing because we don¢t respect the systems concept in any undertaking. Each and every one is a sub system which wholly makes up the system geared to development. Let us not look down upon the poor or the less educated because they form part and parcel of the system. Now to see any Luo MP whether He /She has been given any portfolio in the government is not easy. It¢s like you want to see the already Risen Jesus.

I apologize to all our Luo MPs to know that they were elected by all the registered constituents¢ poor/rich, healthy/sick, young and old people .Let us work together for the benefit of all.

Kenya: ‘Aged’ Officers to Go Home

THERE is anxiety in the Kenya Police and the military over fear that senior officers past retirement age may be forced to go home.

In the Police Force, some of those who might be affected include Mr Lawrence Mwadime, a Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police I and principal assistant to the Police Commissioner, Maj Gen Hussein Ali.

The Director of Criminal Investigations Department, Mr Simeon Karanja Gatiba, who is a Senior Deputy Commissioner II, is reported to have attained the retirement age too.

Nyanza Provincial Police Officer (PPO), Mr Anthony Kibuchi, whose rank is Deputy Commissioner of Police, is also set for retirement.

Central Province PPO, Mr Philip Ndwiga, is expected to retire in two months’ time.

The Deputy Director of Investigations at the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission (KACC), Dr Parmeneas Mutonyi, is among those to leave. Mutonyi is a former Deputy Commissioner of Police.

His deputy, Mr Peter Mwangi, will quit the anti-graft body after allegedly attaining the retirement age.

The Nairobi area PPO, Mr Njue Njagi, also falls in this bracket while Mr Julius Ndegwa, the deputy PPO Nairobi area, is set to retire next month.

Others are Mr Sammy Githui, the director of Operations at CID headquarters and a Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ms Elizabeth Mugweru, in the same department.

At Vigilance House, the Kenya Police Headquarters, the Officer in Charge of Inspections and whose title is Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr Stanley Kinuthia, is among those expected to go home.

Several Officers Commanding Police Divisions (OCPDs) across the country are reported to be facing retirement after attaining the mandatory age. They include Mr Julius Muthuri, the Embakasi OCPD and his Siaya counterpart, Mr Humphrey Wanzala.

In the military, Deputy Vice Chief of General Staff, Lt Julius Karangi, is set for retirement next year while Maj Gen Jones Muthui, the Deputy Army Commander, is set for retirement by December.

A group of experienced senior officers are alleged to be earmarked for retirement by next year. Majority of the officers are in middle level positions.

They include Brigadier Philip Chebe, Lt Col Bosco Odhiambo, Lt Col Dickson Muhandik, and Col Vincent Anami.

In the Kenya Air Force, Colonel Seth Shava, who served as Laikipia Air base Commander and has remained a colonel for nine years, is due for retirement.

Shava is respected as one of the most experienced fighter pilots in the Kenya Air Force.

Impeccable sources said the person who was named as deputy commander of KAF was his junior by six years.

Declaring our independence

Obama for America

Dear Readers,

Make a matching donationSince we announced our decision not to accept taxpayer funds for the general election, tens of thousands of people like you have come forward to declare their independence from a broken system.

This decision frees us to build a movement of millions of people giving whatever they can afford to a campaign that is truly reforming the way our political process works.

It also frees us to take our campaign for change to parts of the country where Democratic presidential candidates haven’t spent too much time in the past.

Our first television ad of the general election season goes on the air today.

Sure, we’re on the air in places like Ohio and Florida, the typical battleground states. But we’re also on the air in North Dakota, Montana, and Alaska — places that have emerged as competitive because of the unprecedented grassroots energy supporting our campaign.

These ads are supporting a 50-state ground operation that is being built right now by staff, volunteers, and thousands of Obama Organizing Fellows.

But we have our work cut out for us, and we need to grow this movement. Right now, you can declare your independence and help us run a campaign that is funded by the people and for the people.

If you make your first donation today, a fellow supporter is standing by to match your gift and double your impact. You can even choose to exchange a note with them and share why you are supporting this campaign.

Add your voice to our movement by making a matching donation now:

https://donate.barackobama.com/match

Choosing not to accept these taxpayer funds was not an easy decision. I remain committed to fundamental campaign finance reform, and as president I will work to fix this broken system.

But we’re facing opponents who have become masters at gaming the broken system as it stands today — collecting money from Washington lobbyists, special interest PACs, and relying on so-called 527 groups that can take unlimited contributions to peddle lies and smears.

We have chosen to do things differently. You can see for yourself what kind of people own our campaign — each of these folks have made a donation in the last 24 hours:

Sandra from Tennessee:

“I’m on disability and can’t afford to give much but I figure the $10 is worth it. This is the first time in a long time that even the ones who can’t afford it are giving, and are excited about a candidate and excited about the process.”

Monica from South Carolina:

“The way that this primary and now this general election campaign have been funded truly gives the power to the citizens that are voting. This administration will owe the American people, not lobbyists and special interests groups.”

Mauve from Iowa:

“THIS is true public financing. Getting average Americans from all backgrounds and tax brackets to care enough and to believe enough and to hope enough to give what they can.”

Tim from Texas:

“Today, for the first time in my life, I contributed to a political campaign. I did so because I have always believed that true power rests with the people, if only those people could be organized. We have the power to take back our country from the special interest groups. There are more of us and when we act together, we are the force that can dictate the direction our country will take.”

Join Sandra, Monica, Mauve, and Tim in declaring your independence. Make a matching donation today:

https://donate.barackobama.com/match

Our fellow Americans are counting on us, and the stakes couldn’t be higher — we can’t afford another term of George Bush’s disastrous policies.

We have a responsibility to win this election and deliver for them.

But with Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs declaring that they will spend hundreds of millions to tear us down, it’s up to us to stand up for the change we need.

More than 50,000 people declared their independence since our announcement. Support our campaign for change and declare your independence today to help reach our new July 4th goal of 75,000 donors.

https://donate.barackobama.com/match

Thank you for everything,

Barack

The visiting Kenya PM, Raila Odinga security detail whisked away meddlesome USA-ODM masqueraders

By Rose Wanja
Washington DC-USA

A group of self proclaim ODM-diaspora secretariat residing in Washington DC metropolitan together with few sorted members of their club from other States in the USA, were recently whisked away by the combined Kenyan and USA security agents detail of the visiting Kenya Prime Minister, Hon Raila Odinga.

This ugly incident occurred when the Kenyan PM, Raila was speaking to US Government officials and members of the Centre for Strategic International Studies at full packed the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington DC.

The said group who has been bullying a veteran Kenyan lady prominent politician and a long time lieutenant of the Odinga’s Family through mad smearing propaganda in the Internet, found themselves desperately waiting in vain at cold night chilly weather at heavily guarded Hotel gate hoping to be allowed in to see the PM and present their bulky resumes to the PM for jobs and or government appointments.

“We have freely been mingling with Jakom, we fought for him, we demonstrated, we fund-raised for him but tonight it is Ogego that is sitting next to Jakom yawa, awouro” says their leader

The boisterous and arrogant group was dismissed by the PM, aide as self seekers, who are merely scheming for their own selfish gain. And are regarded as cartel of fraudulent agents of the former PM aide Mr David Arunga who was sacked soon after the general election because of campaign funds scam.

The Kenya PM, who has been invited by the US government and is on a three-day official visit. So far has met with Secretary of State, Ms Condoleeza Rice and top Congress figures, World Bank officials and the business community.

BUSINESS PEOPLE IN WESTER KENYA ARE UP IN ARMS AGAINST THE CLOSING DOWN OF NAKURU-KISUMU RAILWAY LINE BY THE RVR

By Leo Odera Omolo

BUSINESS people and traders in Western Kenya are up in arms against the proposed plan to close down the railway line between Nakuru and Kisumu towns, saying it seriously hurt the region economically.

The effect of the closure would be felt in far field as Uganda , Rwanda , Burundi , DRC and Southern Sudan ..

The Rift Valley Railways {RVR} a South African multinational company , which a few years ago signed an agreement with the Kenyan government which enabled it took over the management of the railways services previously managed by the Kenya railways Corporation announced last week that that it was closing down the 100 year old railways line, which was built in 1900

Members of the business community in the region have, however, expressed concern over the decision by RVR to close down the Nakuru-Kismu railways line, arguing it would impact negatively on their operations and hurt the users of the line economically.

The rail line in question is regarded as the economic mainstay of Western Kenyan regions. Used in the transportation of tea, coffee, maize and sugar which are grown. and produced in the region in abundance.

Stakeholders have voiced concern that the closure of the Nakuru-Kisumu line had a far-reaching implications on economic activities in the regions and also on the land-locked neighbouring countries of Uganda , Rwanda and Burundi as well as the DRC and Southern Sudan . Business people in the northern Tanzanian towns of Musom, Tarime, Mwanza and Shinyanga are also known to depend on their regular supplies via Kisumu port , located on the eastern tip of Lake Victoria .

The railway line is so vital in the transportation of farm products such as tea, coffes, maize and sugar from the region to the market outlets in Mombasa , Nairobi and other towns.

Players in the sugar industry sub-sector of Kenya ’s economy hve also complained bitterly about the planned closure of the Nakuru-Kisumu rail line,

The announcement by the RVR came last week in the wake of bitter complaints by the Mumias sugar company, one of the largest sugar producing companies in Western Kenya that it was contemplating to stop using the RVR to transport sugar to the market due to frequent delays and unpredictability.

The Mumias sugar Chief Executive dr. Evans Kidero had expressed concern that it takes up to right days to move his company’s sugar to the market in Nairobi and other parts of the country. H added that the delays had caused crisis in the market system of sugar products in the country..

The RVR made an impromptu announcement saying it would immediately close Nakuru-Kisumu railway line, citing increased cases of vandalism.

The stakeholders in the sugar industry says the closure of the rail line, which has been in active use ever since its construction in 1902 will greatly hamper transportation of sugar from factories in Western Kenya to the capital, Nairobi and onward to the coastal port city of Mombasa and other smaller towns in Central and Eastern Provinces of Kenya..

As the result of the latest development, members of the business community in the cut off regions, clearing and forwarding agents and importers at the Kenyan port City of Mombasa have appealed to the government to immediately revoke the contract it entered with the RVR, a South African company which took over the management of the Kenyan Railways Corporation. They want the railway to revert to its former status quo.

A spokesman for the Kenya International Freight Forwarders and Warehousing association Mr. Peter Otieno was recently widely quoted in the local press as saying that the closure of Nakuru-Kisumu railway line would create unnecessary delays in delivery of cargo between Mombasa and Kisumu and Mombasa and inflates extra freight costs.

The same media had quoted the representative of the Ugandan business community mr George Kidima that the closure of the line “portends serious effect on the economies of not only Kenya and Uganda, but all the land-locked countries in East and central Africa whose exports and imports passes through Kenya to the sea outlet.”

The sales, Marketing and Customer relations of RVR Mr. Russel Carmichail was also quoted as having assured the traders who will be affected by the closure of the line would be assisted to transport their goods to the final destinations. But, he, however, did not elaborate how this will be effected.

The railways services in Kenya has been limping for a long time. It may take along time for it to regain its lost glory as the choice of the mode of passenger and cargo as it used to be up to the late 1970s.

During its hey-days, which lasted up to the early 1980s, Kenya Railways Corporation was the choice company for transport of freight. But now the glory is lost and the bulk of cargo are hauled by heavy trucks that are fast destroying what is left of Kenya road network, due to inadequate capacity and stagnated technology, continued overstaffing, coupled with a break down in system and declining capital investment led to unnecessary high operating cost, losses, negative cash lows and inability to sustain operations.

And owing to declining cargo traffic, Kenya Railways corporation had reduced its staff by more than 50 per cent 15 years ago and further drastic reduction of staff before it handed over the railways services to the RVR a few years ago.

Railways transport in Kenya now needs complete turn around in term of new technology and capacity. This are some of the reasons why the government had seen it fit to off-loaded its operation and ventured into a contract with RVR. ,which in turns appears as if it is incapable of turning it around..

Re: On the campaign trail!

When it comes to politics,there are certainly some familiarities all over the world! Although not a fan of politics, I am always keen on comparing notes.

One of the areas that has been of great interest, has been on the campaign trail. By listening and analyzing the candidates, and their die hard supporters,you will find out that they are always looking for something negative concerning their opponent.

But there is one candidate-Obama, who has impressed me. He has remained cool in responding to some of the attacks. In watching him, I have noted that he knows very well the game of politics. He picks his wars very carefully! Why so?

You see, out there are very learned people; people with very able analytical skills;people who seem to read motive to any little statement made. So, when one candidate attacks another one over and over again,you start hearing the press calling for discussion on policy matters and not on personal level.

Senate Obama’s approach in some ways reminds me of how the man of Galilee daily handled the many attacks aimed at him. If you can,please spend some time studying Mathew, Mark, Luke, & John. In your study, watch out the following:

1.Every time He was asked a question, His answer was, “How do you read?.”
2.Every time He was asked a question with hidden agenda, His answer was, “Do you believe what you are saying or did you hear it from someone else?”
3.Some attacks, He remained silent,never uttering a word! This kind of response puzzled even His accusers
4.No amount of accusation side tracked Him from that which brought Him to this world-to seek and save the lost.

Yes,even in the campaign trail,there is something spiritual to be learned! Senate Obama appears to have majored in the art and science of dealing with his opponents. It’s possible that he learned some of this from the gospels. What about you and I? Have we learned anything from the Nazarene?

Just a thought.

RE: sympathy to poor Kenyans

as per education is concern, I have realized that it is only meant for the rich families who are finically stable but not the poor peasant like I myself who managed to get B.(plain)with 66 point but being left by cut point. but the other students who sat the same examination the following year (20006)went to university with even 64 points. I am really disturbed in mind of what to do. let me asked you one question are we living in the same Kenya or there are other people are so special than the others?.If at all the government wanted to lower points so that they could help the poor Kenyan in education prosperity why could they start by giving chance for the old suffering students before promoting the less fit students who sat examination just yesterday. and for that kenya will never be developed if this kind corruption is still going on in the country. what surprised me a lot the fact the student from rich family are prospering but the poor ones remains extinct. please for those are concerned may you do something to cater for the poor students

Re: Appreciation from KCDN; The report

National Healing and Reconciliation with a bias to the Kenyan Child

A Report; KCDN Embakasi Peace Run
Held on 15th June 2008 at Jacaranda Grounds Embakasi

Prepared by;
Odhiambo T Oketch,
CEO KCDN

20th June 2008

1] Introduction;

Komarocks Community Development Network has been involved in the humanitarian crisis that recently engulfed our country following in the post election conflicts of 2007.

Our involvement helped in the evacuation of 9 families of 26 persons from Naivasha to Nairobi, setting up of 22 families in small businesses in Nairobi for sustenance, taking 19 children from the IDP families to school, they have since ressettled, and setting up of 9 youth groups into car washing business in Komarock.

This support has strectched our involvement with children to 189 across 10 schools in Embakasi Division. At full capacity, we want to reach out to 50 schools in Embakasi before we go national.

We are a Community Based Organisation, registered with the Ministry of Culture, with the Department of Social Services, Nairobi Province.

2] KCDN Embakasi Peace Run;

Having seen the effects of men at war first hand, our focus at KCDN turned to the plight of  children at times of conflict. We thought of a better way to bring this forth to the attention of the world, and we came up with the idea of a Peace Run.

Since athletics is a unifying game, we decided to host KCDN Embakasi Peace Run, the theme of which we settled on; Natioanal Healing and Reconciliation with a bias to the Kenyan Child.

We hence fixed the inaugural event to take place on 3st May 2008, to coincide with our  celebration of our third anniversary, but postponed it to 15th June 2008 on account of the Presidential visit to Embakasi on the same date.

3] Objectives of the Peace Run;

-To effectively support the ongoing efforts at National healing and Reconciliation.

-To promote unity and love.

-To create a forum from where leaders can come together to preach peace.

-To create a forum that is unifying to all in that atmosphere of sportsmanship.

-To focus firmly on the plight of the child whenevr there is conflict.

-To focus firmly on the need to have a society that does not cowtow to tribalism.

-To focus firmly on the need to have a society that is not divided on the basis of Religion, Colour, Creed and Ethnic affiliation.

-To introduce the general public to the various educational needs of children from less privileged families.

-To create a forum from where many people from various backgrounds can freely interact without fear of being captives to their tribal, religious and ethnic interests.

4] Guest List;

We were privilaged to have Mr Steven Karinga as our Chief Guest for occasion. Mr Karinga is the Deputy Commissioner for Sports. Through him, KCDN gave 11 bundles of used clothes and shoes to Pst Fred Barasa of Kayole Chapel Church to be used by those in need.

The second guest was Madam Sarah Kiwanuka, Chairlady Athletics Kenya, Nairobi Province. Through her, KCDN gave a donation of Exercise Books, Story Books and Text Books to Tumaini Primary School. The books were received by Madam Jane Ligare, the Head Teacher, Tumaini Primary School.

The other guests who graced the occasion were;

1] mr Charles MacAluodo, Chairman, Peace Building, Reconciliation and Conflict Management Committee, Nairobi East District.

2] Mr Irshad Sumra, an Embakasi Politician, who even donated his pick-up vehicle to help KCDN with logistics.

3] Mr Jack Were, Chairman Athletics Kenya Nairobi West District.

4] Mr Paul Kariuki, Chairman Athletics Kenya Nairobi East District.
5] Mr John Mwithiga, National Athletics Coach.

6] Mr George Kariuki, the IAAF Walk Judge LII, National Walk Coach, Athletics Kenya Nairobi Executive Member.

7] Joyce Odhiambo, former national record holder 100m.

8] Ruth Waithera, former African record holder 400m.

9] kenneth ‘Valdez’ Ochieng, former international boxer.

10] Jane Ligare, Head Teacher, Tumaini Primary School.

5] Attendance;

We were privilaged to host a total of 21 Athletics Clubs, 10 Primary Schools, and 6 Secondary Schools, besides the general public.

6] Races;

We had a total of 7 races;

1] 15 km men seniors

2] 15 km women seniors

3] 8 km men juniors

4] 6 km women juniors

5] 3 km men masters 40+

6] 3 km women masters 40+

7] 2 km children

7] Achievements;

We were able to bring together a big crowd very eager to listen to the peace gospel. The speakers, Mr Karinga, Madam Kiwanuka, Mr Mac Aluodo, Mr Sumra, and myself, were able to articulate the virtues of peace in the society. We inferred to how sports is unifying and made a strong case for the young people to come together just like athletes do.

We extolled the virtues of peace, national healing and reconciliation. We put the case of the child in times of conflict.

8] Challenges;

We had a successful event. In the process of planning and hosting such an event, obviously KCDN had to make some simple mistakes. We learned in the process, and we are optimistic that the second edition of KCDN Embakasi Peace Run will be a better version. We will start early and put everything in place before we announce the dates.

9] Security;

We want to thank the OCPD Kayole Police Station, who was with us besides assigning his officers all along the routes and at the venue. We salute the DTO, who was also with us, and all his officers for doing a good job.

10] Donations;

We thank Text Book Centre Ltd, Phoenix Publishers Ltd and East African Educational Publishers for all the books that we were able to donate. We thank the many people who gave us used items, more so Caroline Otieno from Arusha Tanzania, for the clothes that we gave out to Kayole Chapel Church.

We thank the MD SGS Kenya Ltd, Jairus K’Onyiego, Rodgers Orero and Mr Otiende Amolo of Rachier and Amolo Advocates for the financial support that made us host a successful event.

Lastly we thank Erdemann Company Kenya Ltd for giving us the water that we used on the field and at our feeding points. Erdemann are the makers of Ha-Ha water.

We thank you most sincerely, and in due course, we will formalize this.

11] Lessons learnt;

We learnt that Kenyans love each other, and we need more of these interacting events to indicate the need for love and unity.  We realized that a lot need to be done to awaken the subconscious minds of Kenyans from the ravages of tribalism and regional marginalization.

We realized that there is a lot going for us as Kenyans which we need to focus on, and we will have an everlasting peace, national healing and reconciliation.

12]Appreciation;

Lastly, our sincere appreciation to all the many Kenyans who came and joined us. We want to thank all those who wanted to support us but due to time constraints could not do this. We tell them that this will be an annual event, and we are determined to put up the case of the Kenyan Child in the midst of Peace, National Healing and Reconciliation.

Our sincere thanks to SGS Kenya Ltd, Jairus K’Onyiego, Rogders Orero and Otiende Amolo, without whose financial support, many things would not have been put in place.

Lastly, I must say thanks to our staff at The Network; Dorcus Amondi, Caleb Onyango, Florence Kanywa, Alphonce Opinya, Jerry Okonjo, Chadwick and Nicholas. Without you, this event would not have taken place.

GLCSE: Travelling from USA to Kenya any soon? then you need to read this…

ALL,

Are you traveling from the US to Kenya any time soon? If yes then read on.

I run a community libraries back home, somewhere in Rangwe, Homa-Bay district. The community libraries are part of a charity project, Griffin Leadership Center of Service and Excellence (GLCSE). This charity focuses on empowering the less-fortunate, particularly the orphans and widows, by way of education through regular feeding programs, buying school uniforms, availing necessary study material other than what the schools provide, organizing holiday tuition camps for the youth in the project, among many others.

Now to my request to those traveling to Kenya: I rely on persons and friends like you to travel with a suitcase of text books from me. I will foot any bills needed by the customs in case my luggage may come as an excess to the ones you have for your safari. But if you may just accept to deliver the package as a gesture to support good cause, then that will be very kind and helpful of you. After you reach Kenya, I will organize for a staff from Griffin Center to meet you and pick up the luggage. I need to also mention that, other than offering delivery services, you may also contribute to this project by donating books or whatever material that may be useful for school.

Meanwhile, I am very grateful to those people who have responded to this post in its initial appearance in Jaluo.com site. There is always room to do more, and I do believe that we can pull it together in so many ways to develop the educational standards in those areas that are still lagging behind. GLCSE is a major project and more is coming up that I will be sharing with everyone in jaluo.com. Education is the key to unlocking the potential of every life and the earlier we invest upon the upcoming generation the better. This way, we will empower generations upon generations. You too can join in a worthy cause!

I will most appreciate your help in this wonderful effort.

NB: The center is named after the late director and founder of Starehe Boys’ Center, Dr. Geoffrey William Griffin. He is one great man in the living history who mentored me to the person I am today.

I look forward to reading/hearing from you.

Many thanks to Jaluo site owners for accepting to expose this item to its audience.

Re: The cost of not listening!

In a scale of 1-10,how do you rate your listening skills? By the way, do you know that much of our sufferings come as a result of not listening? How so?

Let me start by telling you how my silliness/stubbornness of not listening almost caused my life yesterday!

1. I did not listen to my wife when she told me to lie down and lift my leg up. I thought I knew better than a trained nurse. Later on, I came to understand how dangerous it was.

2.Instead of staying booth, I decided to go to the bank-a very stupid decision indeed!

3. I defied the Doctors order and drove myself to the hospital!

Oh I regretted when I was made to understand how dangerous my decisions had been!

But do we have any Biblical examples?

1.Adam and Eve chose to listen to the serpent instead of God. That is how we got into this mess!
2.Abraham, a friend of God listened to his wife, Sarah, instead of God. Yes, Ishmael was born, but with what outcome?
3.Egypt was destroyed because Pharaoh chose not to listen to God’s warnings!

What about our time?

1.Do you listen?
2.Husbands hardly listen to their wives.
3.Some wives would rather listen to someone else other than their husbands.
4.Some employees have been fired for not listening!
5.A lot of kids in many homes and schools have hard time listening

But the saddest of all, is:

That the good Lord has given us warning after warning in His sure word.
We know exactly what awaits this world.We even know the cost of not listening. But in spite of all that, we still don’t listen. God have mercy!By the time things make sense to us,it’s forever too late!

And the big question is: For how long should we continue with our stubbornness!

I really feel bad that I would have contributed to my own death. To avoid such silly mistake from happening again, I have re-told my mind to discipline itself and learn to listen. How about you my friend?

Blessings
